Comments about Quantum Engineering Stern Wheels Cart:
I was looking for a functional inexpensive cart for occasional use. I paddle with the Charlotte Kayak Club and the group members are helpful but we all arrive to a planned paddle at the same time. The cart helps me get unloaded quickly without help. It's not a perfect fit but it works well.

Comments about Quantum Engineering Stern Wheels Cart:
This cart was just what I was looking for. I don't consider myself a weakling but lugging my 12' kayak from parking lot to launch point was difficult. The cart is easy to attach and makes transporting the kayak a breeze. Even going uphill is no problem. It fits behind my seat ( a space I didn't use for anything else) so I don't lose any leg room or storage space. The only problem I could see would be using over very rough or rocky terrain.

Comments about Quantum Engineering Stern Wheels Cart:
This little cart attaches easily on the stern end of my 12 foot Pungo and works beautifully. Pick up the front bow loop and roll the boat and cart down a gravel path for 1/3 mile with no problem. Slips into the dry well without taking the wheels off. Dirt and mud hoses off easily. Unless you need to cross loose sand or really rough terrain this one should work well. Simple design. Logical to attach. Put the hook over the back of the cockpit to cinch the straps down. My boat is 49 pounds empty and with day supplies probably 65 pounds-this little scooter is perfect. Would not consider a bigger or more expensive style.

Comments about Quantum Engineering Stern Wheels Cart:
I generally do not paddle in areas requiring fat tires. This is exactly what I thought it would be, light and easy to attach and handle. I wanted to be able to strap it on while the boat was in the water, walk the kayak to my car, put one end on the cheater bar, unsnap the fasteners, and then lift a dirt free kayak on to the rack. A quick trip back to the river and a quick dunk and the cart is dirt free. It does everything I want and dries fast.

Comments about Quantum Engineering Stern Wheels Cart:
Works well and easy to attach, however since it attaches all the way in the back, it makes for a longer turning radius than some other carts, making it difficult to turn tight corners in a garage or storage area.

Comments about Quantum Engineering Stern Wheels Cart:
We haven't tried it on sand yet but I hooked up my 17.5' Tsunami and carted it all over the yard. The ground is rocky and uneven and transport was solid.
Fits in bulked as one piece.
Pneumatic tires would have been nice but would definitely require removal for stowage.
High quality and looks durable.

Comments about Quantum Engineering Stern Wheels Cart:
I needed a simple solution for toting my 73 pound kayak (a Perception Prodigy 2 14.5') down to the river when I take it solo and this cart has performed excellently so far. I have pulled it over muddy and gravel terrain and even up and down shallow steps without a problem. The longest distance has been about 50 yards and the ground is usually pretty even. I would not suggest running with it or pulling it behind a bike.
For day trips the fact that the cart does not fold for storage into the dry well is not an issue but if I did need to stow it then it will fit behind the rear seat.
The design is intuitive and easy to apply. Takes about the same amount of time as it does for me to put on the cockpit cover.
Bottom line - perfect for my recreational applications.

Comments about Quantum Engineering Stern Wheels Cart:
It cost less than most kayak carts and has been quite workable and (so far, at least) durable. I've used it on 7 or 8 occasions now - twice on an 800-ft concrete and gravel path ending in a small sandy beach, and the other times on a gravel parking lot with concrete-plank boat ramp.
It's small enough to fit in my (Current Designs Caribou-S) forward hatch with no disassembly.
It bogs somewhat in soft sand, but less than I expected. If your kayak is especially heavy or you have to go a long distance in soft sand, you should probably get a cart with pneumatic wheels, but for shorter distances and kayak weights similar to mine (about 50 pounds) this works OK.
The worst thing about it is the way the hard wheels transmit every bump straight into my arm as I'm carrying the other end of the kayak. This is especially fun on those concrete-plank boat ramps, where the cart wheels drop into each gap with a nice "thunk"!
But the low price and the convenience of just sticking it in my hatch and going more than make up for that.

Comments about Quantum Engineering Stern Wheels Cart:
First thing a little research taught me: every cart is a trade-off, none are without some disadvantage. I was looking for light and quick to attach, and I got it with this one. It's designed for kayaks, but works on my Wenonah solo canoe, the hook catching the thwart just as securely as a kayak cockpit. The deep, narrow design means attachment will be near the end of the boat, which means the fulcrum will never be as effective as a cart that strapped on near the middle. I can live with that, as the strap-on design is secure enough for most places I'll be going. My biggest gripe is the small wheels which will limit use on deep sand or soft dirt. Overall, if this cart stands up to normal wear it will be well worth the money.
