Works great on our wood canoe!
We borrowed a set of wheels last year that didn't work nearly as well as this set! We place it just in front of the rear thwart and wrap the webbing around it to keep it from sliding. The large wheels were able to navigate from our vehicle to the water, and then over a portage. Easy to setup and folds up and stores easily. I'm VERY happy with this purchase!
Makes portgaging a kayak a breeze!
Bought this to ease the burden of portgaging my Current Design Sea Kayak on portgages to/from rivers and lakes. This is a brilliant design and works extremely well. The cart sets up very easily....in seconds....and works exceptionally well while portgaging. I’m kicking myself for not purchasing something like this years ago. It makes getting out with your kayak so simple now...no more lugging it down the portgage or trails to your favorite put-in spot. The straps are high quality...similar to my Yakima straps...I used to shrug and groan each time I wanted to try a new put-in that required portaging....not any more! In fact, this system encourages me to take my kayak out even more to explore new areas.
Worth every dime!
The cart is rad! It breaks down and it easily packable/carried to and fro in a nifty bag. The cart works bgreat with my yak. My daughter can easily set it up, position a large two person kayak, strap it down, and tow it anywhere. We have used it extensively while on road trips in Idaho, Colorado, and Washington. The tires are large enough to go Burlington with us wherever we put in. It's a sick little set up and priced fairly for the quality. Plus, I dig the yellow color. Check out the video on REI too. It shows you everything you'll need to know. Overall, we love it.
Fantastic little cart!
I have an 88lb tandem kayak, and when it's fully loaded with my fish finder, rods, etc... it's not something that my wife and I look forward to carrying long distances. We recently used it to move the kayak and all of our gear about 1/4 mile from parking lot to water, and it was fantastic. At one point, we stacked an inflatable on top, and it turned a three person job, into an easy one person job. If you are on the fence about buying one of these, just get it. The time an effort that it saves, is well worth the expense.
Holly roller
I’m really happy with this purchase. Knew what I wanted and got just what I was hoping for. Well built, light weight, nice design and folds nicely into its own carrying bag which snuggles neatly into my canoe out of the way, period. Makes long jaunts car to water and back a breeze. I can load in all the gear for a stress free walk to the water and back. My family is just as happy using it as am I. We own a 14’ MADD River Adventure.
completely worth the money
I have spinal injuries, and after carrying my 55 pound kayak on my shoulder a quarter-mile to and from the lake, I realized I needed to come up with a better transportation method. I was hesitant to buy this cart because of its cost, but it is worth every penny. Very easy to carry, very easy to set up, very easy to tote on the back of my kayak, and does exactly as it’s intended to do with ease. Highly recommend!
Easy as can be
I've only used it once to transport my 16" canoe over grass to the car and over asphalt to the boat launch. Worked as expected. With my ease of use I might of gotten by with the $40 alternative but this one should last me as long as I need. Best thing is I'm using the canoe again after dreading the carry.
Kayak Cart
Just picked this up today. Took only a few seconds to put the wheels on and snap everything into place. Kayak was easy on and straps fit perfectly. Rolled on the driveway great. Can't wait to get to the lake.
Makes moving the kayak easier
This is such an easy little car to put together and take apart. Easy to put our kayak on from the car and take down to the water. Through some other gear in the kayak including our inflatable paddle board. Sturdy but easy to attach to kayak and store while using.
Solid cart but it doesn't fit wide boats that well
This is a nice kayak/canoe cart and it appears to be well built. However, it doesn't fit every kayak/canoe so keep that in mind! This cart seems to be geared towards more narrow, v-shaped hulls. I have a Riot Mako 10.4 pedal drive kayak which is about 36" wide and mostly flat on the bottom and this cart doesn't fit it very well except for in the very front where the boat narrows. With the boat being wide, the loading method shown in the video will not work. Instead, you will need to lift up whatever end you want to put the cart under, place it where you want it while holding the boat up and then set your boat down evenly on the cart. It's a bit more time consuming than the video but if you're patient, you can make it work. The little kickstand actually helps with this method since you can kind of move it into position with your foot while the cart stays upright. Previously, I was using a scupper-hole kart (the ones with two posts that fit through the scupper holes) but my new boat's scupper holes are way larger making that old method a no-go. So this type of cart is my only real option short of rigging up something out of PVC. Since that is the case, I wanted to buy something that was a little more reliable than the cheap carts you find on other, bigger websites. This cart's build quality is far superior to those so to me, it's worth the money if it will fit your boat. I removed a single start from the rating only because it's not universally compatible but other than that, it's a solid product. One thing I will note is the straps are very long so in theory, this cart could be placed under a wide (3ft or more) boat but doing so would be cumbersome.
