We've come a long way since 23 outdoor enthusiasts who shared a love for the outdoors formed REI as a co-op. Today, we are the nation's largest consumer co-op with more than 3.5 million active members and 10,000-plus employees. We credit our continued success and trusted reputation to our dedicated employees who work each day to share their interests, friendly expertise and passion for the outdoors with people of all levels of experience and ability.
Throughout our 70-year history, we've remained true to our heritage. REI employees enthusiastically make a difference in our communities by cultivating connections, connecting people to the outdoors and inspiring others to be environmental stewards.
We work together to make REI a unique, rewarding and fun place to work. Our employees live by a set of rock-solid core values - authenticity, quality, service, respect, integrity and balance. These values define our beliefs, shape our culture, and guide our business decisions.
From our stores to distribution centers to headquarters, we offer a welcoming and inclusive workplace that embraces individuals' differences. Every employee shares in the co-op's long-term vision, and we foster an environment where employees are rewarded for their contributions and entrepreneurial spirit.
We strive to recruit and retain a talented workforce that is representative of our communities where we have a presence. Through our annual employee engagement survey, we seek to better understand what we do well and identify improvements to keep REI as a great place to work.

REI products are manufactured around the world, and the individuals who make our products are an extension of our brand. We care about their well-being, and hold ourselves and our vendors that make REI-brand products to high standards. Further, we also work with our industry peers across the outdoor industry in fair labor practices.
REI's stewardship report highlights our social and environmental efforts, including successes and opportunities against measurable goals. Our third report highlights momentum on many fronts, as well as identifies areas where we have more work to do. By measuring our efforts we hold ourselves accountable for making continuous progress. We believe that by being transparent we can continue to learn and make progress in our efforts.
We invite you to read the full report, share our brochure with others and give us your feedback.
