I wear this sandal every day. I actually do dance in them, but I have to put duct tape on the bottom to help them slide across the floor. If I don't, I hear them squeal as they try to grip the floor. I went to try on some Birkenstocks last January. I like their brand too, but the Keens were so comfortable when I put them back on. When the Birks would get to smell it was hard to clean them. With the Keen Newport H2s, I can just throw them into the washer.
I'm here today to buy a 2nd pair because I like the Bison color. Otherwise I think I could wear my current pair 24/7 forever.

I had been looking at these sandles for a number of years. I'm glad I bought them. They are more comfortable then what I thought they were.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
First, let me say that aside from bringing these on every backpacking trip I have been on involving river crossings, these are also my daily school shoes because of the comfort of being "open aired" and having a moderately intense rubber toe. The shoe fits well. Watch out for the "keen tan" though. I'm also known to where these guys to moderately fancy restaurants throughout the summer time.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Keens still do rock. They are incredibly comfortable, provide all-important toe protection, and are impervious to water. They win "best all around!" There are "specialty" sandals that are stickier on wet boulders, or keep scree out better, or are better on a wet boat deck, bit the Keens are OK at those things, and beat the hell out of the others for walking comfort, protection, and I have run a mile or two in them with NO blisters! If I have room for only one pair of sandals for a week of mixed duty in the mountains, it is my Keen H2's! Third pair. Other two went 100k miles ( auto metaphor). Buy them.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Ok, this is my first pair of sport sandals I've ever bought (bought on 5-23-09), I've only ever had flip flops for home or kicking around town. I was looking for something to bring in my pack for a "at camp" shoe to wear and something that was waterproof and lightweight. The Keens were not the first on my list, after hours on the net looking, I broke it down to either Teva spoilers which have a good traction looking sole and are very light weight or the Chacos because of the rave reviews or the new balance 920. When I got to REI and started looking the funny part was, all of the sandals on display just happen to be my size (8.5) except the Tevas, I tried on both 8.5 and 9 in the Teva spoilers and the strap on the top just hurt me, so then I looked at the Chacos, all I did was lift the one off the display shelf and it felt like a brick, it was just too heavy for what I was looking for, I did try it on anyway and it did feel pretty good. The new balance 920 were very comfortable, but they are a shoe, I wanted something to fit more compressed in my pack. So I start putting them all on, one at a time, walking around, the Keen h2 was the last one I tried on because honestly, I just didn't like the way they looked, but you know it turned out to be the most comfortable one I tried on, I went back to a few others, then came back to the keen h2 again, still the most comfortable, I was a little leary of the sole because I wanted something with more of a grit to it, and it looked sort of flat but I took the chance and bought them. I wore them the rest of the day and night, still comfortable and my foot is a wide and pretty flat, I felt the arch cause minor pain for a second, but haven't felt it but that once. Ok, so the next weekend I give them the test, I went to the San Gabriel River East Fork to the "Bridge to Nowhere" and even a couple miles past through the narrows, all together up and back it's 14 miles, with lots of river wading, rock hopping, scrambling, sand and gravel and all kinds of goodies. Before I even made it up there I went to a local fast food establishment, they had the wet floor sign up at the door as the lady was mopping, right when I walked in I almost hit the floor, the keens were so slippery on the wet ceramic tile, I mean more than usual, I felt like I was in the ice capades, be careful of that. During the hike, the keens were very comfortable the whole way through, they handled great through the river then out to the trail, a few rocks were slippery on the soles but on most of the rocks they gripped well when wet, on the trail they did really well too climbing up and down rocks, the sole had more of a grip than I gave them credit for before I bought them. A few times I got a pebble inside my foot but it's a sandal with openings, in the 14 miles I took them off about 4 times, and a few times times I just walked through the river and it seemed to lodge whatever pebble out, except once, I tried to kick really hard back and forth and more pebbles came in, good try anyway. On my other trail shoes or sneakers in general, the toe area tapers off a bit, and on the keens the "toe box" doesn't really taper, it's pretty blunt on the main "toe" and the one thing I did enough times to get to me was graze my ankle bone with the toe box, maybe I just need to learn how to walk better but it's something to keep in mind and I've never done that before with any shoe. As far as smell goes, I haven't noticed anything bad yet. I'm now contemplating just taking them as the main hike and camp shoe instead of having something extra in my pack, although I don't know how well they would do with 25lbs. on my back, but I'm considering! I didn't notice any "fast drying" that some have said, they weren't completely dry in 10 or 20 minutes or anything, they weren't sopping wet either though. You can check out the video on vimeo (San Gabriel River East Fork to the bridge to nowhere and beyond)to get a better idea of the terrain I tested them out in. All in all the keens held up well in both water and trail so far they get a "thumbs up".

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I bought a pair of these, a half size larger than my usual 9 to get the right length, and after about three hours my big toes are throbbing. What I finally realized is that there wasn't enough VERTICAL room inside the semi-rigid rubber toe box and that was constantly pressing down on the top of my toes. Took 'em back, tried a 10 and even a 10.5 - same problem. There's a lot to like about this model which is why I still gave 2 stars, but that doesn't matter if I can't get a good fit.
Traded the Keens for the similar Ahnu model which feels much better, so those are going to Mexico with me instead.

Just wore these on a hike up to Hanging Lake in Glenwood Canyon, CO. They were amazing. I could wade into the rapid mountain stream and climb on rocks in it with confidence. My feet dried quickly and I got no blisters. Back on the trail, I had plenty of traction for the steep, rocky parts. They're comfy, and they perform.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I bought the H2 to replace my stylish-but-not-as-functional leather Newports. I loved the look and feel of the Newports, but despite the advertised "Anti-Odor" treatment on the leather-soles, the sandals always reeked; and my feet smelled worse for the wear! In total contrast, the nylon-strapped, synthetic-soled H2's COMPLETELY eliminate foot odor in the sandal and (through good ventilation, a better sole, and an updated anti-microbial treatment) actually reduce the funk of my actual feet! The only thing Keen could have done better was to add "wide" versions of their sizes. I'm actually a 9.5W, which means I go 9.5 in Keen and 10.5 in tennis shoes. 9.5 is the right length, but 10.5 is the right width. Length is more important in the case of active footwear--and sandals "give" as they're broken in--but a 9.5W or 10W would push this great sandal to a full 5-stars!
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I needed a new general sandal and wanted something that would be durable and quick drying. I stopped buying Birkenstocks due to poor quality. I was planning on using theses in the BWCA. I usually wear a 12. My foot measures 11 1/2. I had to purchase a 13. It started to tear, at the heal, after two days. I did not even put them to a full test. Another owner stated that he had problems with the seams. He had pictures showing the same type of tear, but on a different location of the shoe. I am hoping that I am wrong, since I had hopes that this sandal might work. I might give the sandal one more chance. There were a few good reviews out there.
At this time I would not recommend.
Three strikes and KEEN is out!

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
It takes both hands and 20 seconds to put one socked foot into these sandals because the opening for my average foot is too narrow. My 5-year old H20s do not have this problem. This appears to be a model design change, and for the worse. Removing a pebble would be a hassle. The several other Keen sandals I have do not have this problem and are marvelous.[...]A sandal can be marvelous, but if if it is work to get it on or off... Barefoot is easier once you work for technique. Perhaps product designers cannot stop fiddling with perfection.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Excellent for my wider un-attractive feet that are not unlike those of a clydesdale. These things have also had the stitching come undone on the side like the previous reviewer. I also agree that washing them in cold is a good idea every so often to avoid the funk. I've never worn a more comfortable sandal.Worked at a marina and was in the water launching boats and back in to my desk all the time; no other shoe could have done so well IMHO. The extra rubber on the toe has saved me much trouble as well. Short of that stitching coming un-done; these have been perfect
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
to get rid of the smell i put my keens (leather and nylon) in the dishwasher or the washing machine (both can be hot - no prob for the materials), dry 'em (no dryer!) and use them straight away or rub some teatreeoil on the footbed as a special treatment.
the nice side effect is, that the footbed comes back to zero and you start with a shoe which has a neutral footbed - it only takes a short time to break in and feel like you know from before. i own my keens four years now and that's the way they go when the smell comes back.
so don't worry about your feet - it's feet + rubber which causes the odour.
happy trails - jan

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I have five pairs. 'Nuf sed? I will say this: My leather pair - which I've had for six years now - are stinking awful, and I don't have a smelly-feet problem in any other shoes. Know what though? That's shoes. You can wear these most days in the temperate zone; on few will you so much as need socks (which work great with them). They are good for everything. Haven't tried backpacking in them, but I think I could; and they go to every trailhead with me, even in dead of winter. (Why waste time on another pair of socks and laces at the switchover?) Someone else said it here: Best knocking-around shoes I ever owned. I have them in both 11 and 10.5 sizes (wear 10.5 in other shoes); can't even remember which are which, they all fit so well. I will echo two other things I've heard here: they are not as cool as one would expect from a sandal, nor do they shed small stones as well. Quibbles. Nothing is perfect. But these are as close as shoes can come.

My go-to footwear for nonwinter months. The Good- Comfort: Tremendous fit and comfort; great arch support.- Utility: I use mine for knocking about town, serious hiking, wading and swimming.- Traction and Support: I took my Keens and hiking boots with me during a 10-day trip to Acadia and ended up not wearing the boots a single time. I used my Keens to climb the 5 highest peaks, many of which required significant scrambling on rocks. Traction, support and comfort were great. The Not-So-Good- Smell: These suckers can get more a little ripe, i.e., they start to reek. Not that big an issue: when needed, per Keen's instructions, tossing 'em in the washer (cold water) does an acceptable job of ridding them of the, um, aroma.- Durability: The stitching beneath the ankles on both sides of each sandal has failed on all 3 pairs of Keens that I've owned (see below pics of the failed seams on my right sandal). The first time this happened, I had them restitched ([$] at a shoe repair shop. Now, however, I just take them back to REI for a trade. Since the same failure has occurred with 3 different pairs, think it's safe to say this is a design or production deficiency. BUT I haven't found a competing product that offers comparable fit, comfort and utility. So, I will keep using them (and returning to REI when they fail).

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I love these sandals! Super comfortable, versatile footwear.Use: I wear these for casual daily wear as well as for some fairly rigorous hiking, e.g.: 10- to 12- mile day hikes w/light pack (climbed five highest peaks in Acadia National Park, regularly do the Billy Goat Trail in Great Falls, MD, etc.). I also swim in them: they stay on just fine in the water and it is no problem to continue hiking in them when they are wet.Two Problems/Issues: i) Stitching. The stitching on the ankle gussets fails, i.e., it unravels. I've experienced this same problem with all three pairs I've purchased over the past four year, so I would argue that this is a design deficiency rather than a defect. It cost me[$]to have a cobbler re-stitch them, however, at this price point (±$100), the stitching should not fail.ii) Odor. They can develop a ripe odor. The solution is to toss them in the washer (cold water) or give them a good rinse. Not really that big a deal.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I own four pair including 2 Newport H2O (magenta & blue), 1 Newport (green), and 1 bicycling (black with SPD cleats) and they are by far the most comfortable shoes or sandals that I have ever worn, and my toes love the extra wiggle room. I have found them to be well made and haven't had any problems with workmanship. I wear them nearly everywhere, at work and at play, week days and on weekends, hiking and camping, even on a 7-day bike ride through California. I am commonly on my feet all day and my feet are never sore at the end of the day, unlike when I wear other shoes. My only complaint is that my feet sweat a lot (my problem, not the sandals) and after a few weeks of wearing them without socks the sandals begin to smell. When that happens, I just throw them in the washer and they are just like new again. I raved about them so much my sweetie decided to buy a pair and try them out. She loved them so much she now owns a total of five pairs of Keen sandals (including a bicycling pair). I will probably buy another pair when they go on sale.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Anti-Odor foot bed has [to me] a strong and unpleasant chemical odor. Apparently this is a change as my first 2 pair did not have this 'feature'. The smell would not go away and became so bad that I could smell it whenever I opened my closet or whenever I wore them. Finally, I had to get rid of them...& found I liked the Merrill's better.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I often put in/take out my kayak from steep rocky shoresides, lined with cacti, that made other footwear shift quite a bit and worried my toes. These fit very tightly, which I would consider uncomfortable in casual footwear. If that is your use, then order 1/2 size larger. For river/lake usage w/o socks, they are great! The "camo" color is actually a pleasant, bright green, btw. Happy Paddling!

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I absolutely love these sandals. I bought them for a vacation where I was in the water, hiking, and climbing. They performed well in all aspects. The width of the sandal and the low profile helped me to feel stable while on slippery granite. The rubber toe was great for wading in the water to protect my toes and they worked well for scrambling over boulders. The nylon and neoprene took about 24 hours to dry, but they were quite comfortable even when wet. I loved them so much that my wife went to REI when we returned from our vacation to buy a pair of her own. If there was anything negative to say it was that little pebbles would, on occasion, slip into the sandals, but they were fairly easy to remove.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I have owned these shoes for well over two years. They have been all across Europe, spending considerable time in both salt and fresh water. I've worn them in the desert, in the mountains, and around town. I wouldn't recommend wearing any type of heavy pack with them as they provide scant ankle support, but they are comfortable for an entire day of hiking and then some. They have also held up quite well, only now am I beginning to see issues where the upper connects to the sole. They do have a tendency to emit odors after constant wear especially when put away wet. To rectify simply wash them with a mild detergent and air dry. I'm confident my pair would have lasted well into a third or even fourth year if I hadn't lost one on the continental divide. Oh well, at least I get some new Keens...

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I do love my KEEN NEWPORT H2 sandals, it's a bloody shame the sole of the left one started falling apart after 30 days of use (kayaking and pyramid climbing in the Yucatan).Style wise they are awesome, very comfortable, amphibious, and toe protective. Unfortunately it looks like the glue they use to secure the insole to the sole of the sandal has issues and fails. I would guess a production defect, not necessarily a design flaw. The downsides are they they may fall apart, and for an amphibious sandal they seem to absorb water and take hours to dry (wish they used a different webbing!).Unfortunately REI cannot replace my pair because they are no longer available (black colour). They did offer a refund, but that means I'm out my sandals [...] I'm off to get some SHOEGOO for an attempted repair.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
These are great sandals. Both my husband and I have them, and have used them hiking trails, fording rivers, and around the city. They've been very durable and are very comfortable. The only downside is that occasionally small rocks get stuck in the toes, although that is totally manageable.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I have had a pair for 2 years. After a year I conviced my wife to get a pair. Both of us are hard to fit. She has flat feet. I have a high arch. They work for both of us, but I'm more comfortable with a "Good Feet" arch support. We have worn them for moderate hiking, travel across the US, incluing Hawaii's beaches and cities, and the Diamond Head trail, as well as in Alaska's woods (Wrangell-St. Elias NP in late Spring). The soles and straps are as good as new, but I caught hell from a fastideous boater when the soles scuffed the white deck. On mine the tensioning elastic is wearing smoothe and doesn't hold the setting for more than half an hour. This [$]. piece of material (apparently non replaceable) is quickly rendering a[$]. shoe useless. We always wear them to get through airport security as they are easy off and easy on. They are also great for long flights when feet tend to swell. No problem with smell, perhaps because we occasionally soak them in a baking soda solution. Keen, like most companies, probably uses its customers as testers (everything is Beta). So, maybe the next generation will correct the few deficiencies that we experience. I didn't check "stylish," but my wife wears hers for social occasions, including eating at one of Cincinnati's posh restaurants. Maitre d's tend not to look at feet.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Look good on, but lacks lateral support on uneven ground. foot moves around inside of sandal.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Well made and comfortable, but just about useless in sand or in loose small rocks/pebbles, which get stuck inside to extricate requires the shoe to be almost completely removed. Otherwise very good for wading through streams where sand/small pebbles aren't an issue.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Took these guys all over Europe last year and they were the only shoes I needed. Very comfortable and stylish. A major flaw... The neoprene absorbs bacteria and can cause a unholy stench if they are worn too much and too long (I normally do not have stinky feet). My wife and those poor Europeans with whom we shared a train with will testify to that fact. I remedy the smell back home by washing the shoes in the washer then freezing them for a week. I also think I would recommend the Venice, due to increased airflow. Otherwise a great shoe.

These sandals are great. I just got back from Cabo and used my Keens for a hike that included sand, and wet rocky terrain. The traction was amazing. I felt secure with every step. My only surprise with these sandals was that I expected them to be cooler, with the open design. All things considered, they did the job they were meant to do. Great Sandals!

I attended a party not long ago and found this shoe to be part of the "uniform" - most men were wearing keen's, shorts, and a casual button down shirt or polo. Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I loved these sandals when I first bought them. They were comfortable and looked great. To top it off they are very versatile: beach, trails, city, etc. They're great for travel because they can easily replace several pairs of shoes and sandals.
This brings me to some of the major flaws. After about two years of very light off and on use I've found two major problems:
1. The sandals stink and I can't get rid of the smell no matter what I do.
2. There's some neoprene that acts as a liner to prevent some of the hard plastic from rubbing against the foot. It's worn off and now my sandals cause painful blisters.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
These sandals are great for all around use, and super comfy. The only thing I don't really like is that the slots on the sides (a major component to the "breathable" quality will work against you on a trail hike with tiny rocks or plant nettles. Once the stubborn things get into your shoe, the only way to get them out is to remove the sandal... slightly awkward with a forty pound pack on your back.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I took these sandals with me kayaking and biking, and they have held up great. I use them almost everyday for 4 months and no signs of significant wear. Many people comment on the smell, but i take mine in the water quite frequently and let them dry in the sun and have no problems. The toe guard is great and very useful around aquatic equipment.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I absolutely love these sandals. The comfort and breathability of them just make me smile everytime I put them on. I have gone canoeing and whitewater rafting and tubing and fishing and light hiking in my H2s. The traction is optimal and fit feet very well. They tend to slide from toe to heel just slightly. Nothing too bad seeing how the padding counters the chance of major blistering. Wore em to six flags and would much rather have worn some closed toe shoes with socks. By far one of the best investments I have made in a while.

My daughter and I walk to the subdivision pool every night and these are great for the 1-mile round trip walk. Extremely comfortable and equally good when wet. Easy on/off. These have also become my casual everyday shoes. I normally wear 11 and my toes felt a little cramped; plus, it was a fight to put them on. 11.5 solved both issues. These are my first pair of Keens, but now I'm excited to try out the rest of their line.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Great sandal. I wanted something for wet wading when I fish. I can walk straight out of the river and into a restaurant in these, although the closed toe makes it tough to dump pebbles and the traction isn't great on mossy rocks. I wear them for everything in the summer now; shopping, concerts, movies, occasional day hikes. The top is breathable but they make the bottom of my feet stink like crazy, and I'm not really prone to foot odor so I carry a little can of Dr Scholls foot spray if I'm going somewhere anyone may be offended by malodorous foot funk. Still, my favorite sandal ever.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
make sure you wear them for some shorter intervals before making them an all day wearer.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I bought these for kayaking and general swimming and wading in the river. They are absolutely the best water shoes I have ever had. You get what you pay for. They fit snugly which is an advantage in the water - even great for water skiing - no worries about losing them. They are very durable with three layers of material - look closely at the picture - underneath is neoprene like layer that hugs your feet, stitched over that is a leather like layer that provides support, on the outside are canvas straps that provide durability.
Absolutely would recommend them for any water sport. They also work great for light hiking or when you are in and out of the water all day. However, because of all the layers they do NOT dry quickly - which is great on a hot day but not so great if you intend to do something else later besides staying outside. So I find myself having to pack a second set of dry shoes for extended plans.
Once you have the laces tightened where you like them - they slip on and off pretty easily. The trick is to pull the tongue forward after they are pulled over your heel.
As others have mention they can trap small debris but they also can shake it loose - especially in the water. Basically it's a compromise - you'll want either flip flops or hiking boots if you don't like the middle ground.

I had a pair for three years. Finally some wear on the sole and some in the straps.I wear them all year round in NJ ( to work as well ) except when there is a lot of snow on the ground or it's below 20 outside. Rain doesn't stop me either. Otherwise, wool socks and the keens. I have sweaty feet and these are the only things that work for me. I am absolutely amazed at how comfortable and durable they are. I had two pairs. I am buying a new pair of the H2's. I don't understand some of the other comments about how they are hot or don't fit. Not sure what they are talking about.

I've worn these hiking, shopping, all day at theme parks, in water, and easy mountain biking. They have always been very comfortable and able to handle the task at hand.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I normally wear a size 11.5. I got these in a size 12 and my toe was right up against the front, painfully so. I returned them and got a 13. Those are a little to big. They don't make a 12.5, which is obviously what I need. I think I would love these if they actually made all the sizes available and/or sized them in some reality that is somewhere close to the consensus one we all live in.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Great Sandal overall, very comfortable, strong, and keeps rocks out. Best Sandal design out there, but it's not great for hiking/river fords because the tread slips on rocks!

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Just got these today and they are definitely not a true 13 in size. I have been wearing a 13 comfortably in many shoe styles for several years and when I put the Keen on my big toe was right up against the front. Will be sending them back. If they fit properly I could see myself really liking them.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Keen is a hero to Bigfoot. It is rare to find size 15 in any shoe, let alone a shoe that fits well. (Please Keen, Bigfoot needs more styles! [...]I am on my 3rd pair of the H2 in about 5 years. I wear them in all weather. In the summer with bare feet they are comfortable, but a bit sweaty. In the winter with wool socks they get wet, but not cold in the Pacific NW rain. My Keens have been everywhere from Machu Picchu to the Taj Mahal and never let me down.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Bought for kayak fishing in the inter coastal waterways. Good grip in the water. Adjustable for tight fit. Super comfortable. Love these sandals! They are just so darn hot, my feet burn up in these sandals. My wife has threatened on numerous occasions to throw them out due to the smell.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
This is a follow up to an earlier post. A couple of years ago, I bought camo, or green, Keens. A few side straps came loose, but the sandals continued to protect toes and soles. I ordered the same size Keen in black from another vendor--They were too small, painfully. I ordered the same size in camo again from REI, and they are as comfortable as the last pair.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I walk a couple of our dogs over uneven ground, deer trails, and tall grass. The covered toes keep wet grass off my feet. I liked the Keens a lot. After a couple of years, they are still functional, but the second and third side straps pulled out of the soles, and flap lose, on both sandals. Pebbles do get inside them. If I am allowed to say, I ordered the same size Keen from another vendor, and those were too small for me.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
This is a very durable sandal that can go anywhere and take a pounding. I use it for fishing, as a camp shoe, very light hiking, and a comfortable shoe to wear in the warmer months. I have put them through a beating and they have held up great. The only con that I have experienced is that they don't breath real well so they can get to be pretty ripe. I spray mine with rubbing alcohol after each use and that keeps them from smelling up the house/car. They are rugged enough for hiking and comfortable enough to wear for lounging.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
The hard toe is great
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Pretty wonderful sandals, all in all, EXCEPT that they really smell BAD. The shoes have to be put outside after use, and the feet have to be thoroughly washed with soap and water. Seems like everything is leather, so i'm not sure what the problem is. I had to google this to see if it was just me. That's how i found this site. Wearing socks helps, but it's kind of a pain.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Great for canoeing/whitewater rafting. Protect your feet, dry quickly, and are comfortable. Very good buy!
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Looking for best fit, comfort and style. look no further: These sandals rocks!
If I have to come up with a shortcoming, it would be that after heavy use and combination of hiking and water, the sandals will start stinking a bit. No worries then, you can throw them in the washer and off you go!
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I have had a pair for over two years and they still hold up to days in and out of creeks, up and down mountains, and they still clean up at the end of the day for a nice dinner. I have put them in the wash several times and the come out clean, not destroyed. I took them to Costa Rica to hike in the mountains, swim, run on the beach, I have even done some indoor climbing in them. Plus the tan lines are awesome.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
The only thing to watch out for with these shoes is that the large holes created by the gaps in fabric allow pebbles, rocks, and other debris in. Other than that, these are great shoes for many occasions!
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
THese Keen's are great. I think the company really hit it home and secured themselves within the market for this type of sandal. The quick dry feature really works, and the comfort level resembles that of a sneaker. My fiance and I got these for our Hawaii honeymoon and can't wait to really try them out there in 2 months. They are soft and provide cushion enough even to run on water trails with. We especially like the 'toe bump' feature because the detriment with traditional sandals is that they never really protect your feet at all. I will buy a new pair of these every time!
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I bought these because I hate flip flops and thong sandals that feel like they slip off your feet all the time. Also, I live in the city and hated walking around getting gunk on my feet when wearing flip flops. These protect the feet well and yet still feel airy and breathable. I don't wear them at the beach so sand isn't an issue. These are more of an active sandal than a casual sandal, so people who want something easy, breezy for beach wear look elsewhere. These are best for water sports like kayaking and jet skiing, or walking the boardwalk when getting lunch or shopping.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I did an overnight Kayaking trip on Catalina Island with these shoes. The rest the members in my group where slipping all over the rocks in their flip-flops. There where plenty of stubbed toes in the group. My Keens protected my feet and gave me sure footing. Whenever I get near the water and rocks, my Keens go on my feet.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
this sandal combinds the worst features of a shoe and a sandal. They are just as hot as a shoe, yet beause they are open debris gets inside of the sandal and because they are not open enought, the debris just rounds a round inside the sandal till you clean them out. Sand is the worst to clean out and these are suppost to be water(beach)sandal!

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I've had my Newports for about 6 years now. It's rugged with little sign of wear and tear. Fits great and is very comfortable. Grips well when hiking too. The only problem is when you get little pebbles or rocks caught in the shoes. It's very easy for rocks to get stuck under your foot. Then it's hard to shake them out without taking the Newports off or doing some fancy toe work.
Other than that, I would highly recommend these shoes for any adventure.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I got these specifically to do some heavy walking near beach areas - in and out of the water.
I had other sandals (Teva) that ended tearing the skin off my ankles after they got wet and I continued walking. This was due to the one-sided suspension system.
These are great in comparison. No stress points, even all the way around your foot. Love to wear these all weekend long.
I like the toe coverage, but it does make them kinda clunky looking, but I really don't care that much.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I waited several months before buying these. Don't wait like I did - get your Newport H2's today! I hardly wear my other sandals. These keep me comfy all day.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Bought these on sale about a month ago. I wear them every chance I get. Very comfortable and true to size. They work well in almost every casual situation. I probably would even take them on a short day hike. Highly recommended!!
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I have abused these for 3 years now and still look new! great for hiking in warm weather. The toe cap have saved me from stubbing my toe and getting poked by twigs or rocks many times. great for wading out in the water also. Only thing is that they take a little white to dry.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
These shoes are very comfortable. I have spent lots of time in the water with these shoes and find my only problem is that lots of rocks get into the shoes. It's a pain flushing the rocks from the shoes.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I've owned many brands of sandals and these are the best so far. A bit pricey.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Excellent rafting / water sports shoe that I trust to do light hiking too. I like the wide fit, great for my size 14s! When new they took some wearing in but soon loosened up and are now VERY comfortable. They are great for gripping slick rocks, the toe protection is a boon for watersports (Im thinking rafting) and whats more they just plain look good! My only issue is that once a stone gets in, its a pain to get out again!
Overall they are great, I love mine!

Wow this is a great hiker. I picked my pair up at a scratch and dent sale but nothing was wrong with them. They are the best pair of shoes i have ever had.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
This is a great pair of sandles, functional but still stylish enough to wear casually with jeans. They do run a bit small and they're made for short wide feet, so make sure you get the right pair. They're easy to wash and the toe protectors are key. I wear mine all the time and love them.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I bought a pair for myself and am very happy with them. They fit my active lifestyle here in Southern California. From the beach, to the trails and everything in-between, mostly at home and around town this pair is perfect for warm weather. They are comfortable and have great traction. Great right out of the box. I used them for the first time at Magic Mountain and they were perfect for a 12 hour day wet and dry. Make sure you buy them a 1/2 size bigger.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Keen's toe guard revolutionized my life. This cross-sport shoe replaced my Teva's for outdoor activity and my Birkenstocks for indoor casual dress. Like a sports-bra, I never have to change out of these shoes -- they take me onto the trails and back into the workplace. A quick rinse in the sink and they're good as new. How did I survive before they were invented?

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I love KEEN shoes and have 4 pairs because of comfort. However, I’m starting to have some reservations on their quality control. The last three pairs I’ve purchased have had quality issues [...]. One KEEN Arroyo Sandals had the side sole come unglued after six months of use and I was given free tube of Shoe Goo. The other 2 KEEN Newport H2’s, 2006 and 2007 editions had stitching unravel on the right shoe, left-rear quarter where the webbing meets the sole. Both were replaced, however the replacement is starting to show signs of unravel. This appears to be a person at the factory who is not doing the job correctly. There is no tracking, SKEW or quality control number so it can’t be traced back to any one person, station or factory. The KEEN website is not equipped to get this type of feedback. Two suggestions;1. Check the stitching carefully on the Newport H2’s2. KEEN Newport H2 seems to be ½ size smaller than the other KEEN shoes. Order ½ size larger than your other KEENS or better go [...] try them on.

Wore them throughout my trip to and around the Hawaiian Islands. Very comfortable and the tread's grip held even on slippery rocks :-)
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I really like the colors and different strap patterns this comes in. Very comfortable and durable. Good all-purpose shoe!
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
The hold up really well, except for the odor. They are hard to get smells out of. Don't over wear them.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
This shoe has been great for the times I've been hiking, camping, canoeing, etc., whether involving water or not. It's also been good for times I've found myself without other sport shoes for using while jumping rope or a little running.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Make sure you try them on before you buy them. I found they tend to be a half size smaller than they say they are. And also are just barely to tight in the outside of the toe's(though i have big toes, so probably not a problem for most)
Once you get past those problems however, its smooth sailing. Great fit, love how easy they are to adjust.Good in water, not so great with sand or small pebbles. Stuff gets stuck a lot.
Ideally, i would say get this for hot summer days, or small trips/walks to the beach. Along with basic daily outings and chores. DO NOT get these for anything beyond day hikes, or your feet are going to hate you.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I purchased these for a trip up the North Shore of Minnesota (Duluth, Two Harbors etc...). They were comfortable right out of the box and the were comfortable and well cushoned, but not mushy. I have enjoyed Keen shoes for the last year and glad that I switched from Merrell. Keen in my opinion makes a much better shoe.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I wear mine while working as an electrician building marina docks, walking on slick wet metal girders it has great traction. The toe box is a life saver, no stubbed toes. Also i now have the coolest sandal tan around.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
This is a nice sandal for casual activities. It has pretty decent support and are comfortable.
I do not think that they are good for the beach, as sand gets into the sole too easily. They are good for walking in streams if the bottom of the stream is firm (great protective toe cap), otherwise sticks, debris, etc., gets into the sole and you have to remove them to clean them out. They can make your feet sweaty and smell bad, but that's the nature of these types of sandals.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
My brother bought a pair of these about a year ago, and he wears them so much that I decided I had to get a pair as well. These work great for hiking wherever you have stream crossings since they have decent toe protection and dry quickly. They are also good for all around use at home on the weekends.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
These are great Sandals. I use these Sandals for everything to backpacking, hiking, trail walking, around the house and yard, to casual wear. I own 2 pair and [...] has these in kids sizes as well. My 3 year old loves them and is on his 2nd pair.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Like all Keens, these are very durable. And the toe guard was why I got them in the first place. Have had mine for about 2 years. My feet are a little wide at the toes, so these fit perfectly. I am not a European shoe kind of guy. It took about 2 years before they started to give off just a bit of odor but I have very moist feet, so I'm actually quite impressed. I can take them off with 1 hand and with a bit of practice, even put them on similarly. I just got a second pair at fantastic clearance price. They've gone with me to Europe, Asia, and all over the US, so they make great travel shoes/sandals for all day comfort.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
These are the most comfortable sandals I've ever had! Rugged enough for camping, going in-n-out of rivers/lakes and never having to change shoes. Comfortable wet or dry and wear all day in comfort. Would definitely get another pair.

These shoes on a Baja trip are great,it's all I need except my bare feet!Fishing, hiking, hanging out at night spots in Cabo, they do it all.A good way to cut your gear down.I,ve been buying them for years now and keep going back.Did wear one pair down riding my scooter, but I drag my feet alot.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
A while ago I spent a lot of time trying to find a pair of good-fitting sandals and finally gave up. Then on a vacation I needed to quickly find something for a day rafting that we planned at the last minute. I wanted something that would keep my toes safe, be okay in water and remain useful after I returned home (rather than sitting in the closet). I decided to give these another shot and bought them.
The reason why I didn't buy them the first time I tried them is that I couldn't get the darn things on my feet. When I tried them again on my vacation, I realized there's a trick to pulling the loops on the tongue and behind the ankle. Once on, they're pretty comfortable and they did fine in the water.
A couple minor gotchas: If I wear them anywhere with debris like twigs or gravel, a little piece always seems to find its way into the shoe and I can't shake it out without taking the shoe off my foot. They can get sweaty, but I think it's less severe than what I've experienced with other neoprene-lined sandals.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
i like wearing them if i know i'm going to be doing an activity that deals with rocky waterbeds, atv's, or any type of water activity. good to have around.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Good Shoe for stubbing ones toe! not so great on traction, but makes up for it with a myriad of uses! I think I wore them too much (with cycling socks of course since they make your soles sweat) and wore out the stitches in under 9 mos.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
My husband purchased these after I convinced him how utterly comfortable my Keens were. Now he wears them all the time. Great foot support, total comfort.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Great sandal all around EXCEPT for the fact that the toe cap tends to hold sand/pebbles in there and has to be cleared out from time to time. But that is the small price paid for the full toe cap that we love so much. Otherwise a perfect product!
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Great on the plane. Great in the rain. Great on a boat. They might even float?
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
When I go adventuring for the weekend, I take these and my Merrell Chameleon Stretchs and I don't need anything else for my feet. They provide long term comfort, they respond well to all weather and they look great. I cannot tell you how many people ask me what they are and where I got them. Keen appears to be onto something with this shoe, please keep the model the way it is. Only one issue the the enclosed toe and webbing separated on my first pair and was replaced hassle-free. i have had the replacement pair for 18 months with abusive use and they still look great. Wait until you see how quick they dry after getting wet. Extra points on the cool factor.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
They are great shoes. I love them...once they are on. A little tricky getting on, but getting easier with time. Definately a good buy.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Took a little bit to break them in so my feet felt comfortable. But once I did, I wore them constantly in India where I was on my feet most of the day. The best way to describe them is comfortable and sturdy. The nice thing is that these sandals do not keep foot odor like others. I was impressed how well it worked.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
My first time trying out Keen sandals. I love them. I got the blue color. They are exactly what I expected and I use them in a variety of occasions. Great for hikes. A bit bulky so beware, but they are lightweight so you may not care. I think the comfortable design leads to quick wear and tear, and that's ok considering you'll want to try something new if a couple of years.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
These sandals are great. I use them rafting the river and for casual wear. They hold up to everything and they protect my toes. I wish they breathed a little better.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
these are the best shoes i have ever owned. i bought them to wear on the plain when i flew to Great Britain. Before i left my back, knees and hips were killing me, I wore my keens 13 of the 17 days i was gone walked way more than i had in a very long time and before i got back i felt better tan i had in 2 years. these shoes have literally made my life better. I now own 4 pair of keens in various styles and am about to order number 5. If i can keep from it i will never wear or own another brand of shoes. I recommend these to everyone i meet and will continue to recommend them.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
The draw cord would be better if it were more durable and didn't loosen. It hasn't loosened much, but I can tell that it has. These have been great as I wade through rivers for fly fishing or rafting. My toes are thanking me because they don't get slaughtered like when I used to wear sandals. They do start to smell if you don't get in the water often enough.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
These have been the best shoes that I have ever owned. They are extremely versatile on trips. The only gripes I have about them is that they tend to make my feet sweat and there isn't very good ventilation. The other thing is that when you wade into water and get them wet, they take forever to dry all the way. This is very nice if it is a hot day, but if you get them wet right before nightfall, you are going to have some cold feet. Other than those two things, I love these shoes. The toe guard is my favorite part. It comes in real handy when you are scrambling over rocks or you are a frequent toe stubber like myself. I don't even tighten the draw string unless I am running or playing sports.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I’ve been a Keen customer for a few years – and although I think they REALLY need to do something about the arch support, I really enjoy their sandals and recommend them. Right out of the box they work – the toe box is comfortable, especially for those of us with wide feet and the rubber toe front is perfect for hiking/walking in unfamiliar areas. I know the bumper has saved my toes at least a hundred times. The color scheme is getting better. I still sport the traditional blue/black version, but I like the fact that I have choice. The non-marking soles are great – especially when you are invited onto someone’s yacht for the weekend (proper sailing boat.) Of course, after the first hour on a boat everyone seems to shed their footgear, but if you had marking soles to begin with – your stay would probably be short. As mentioned by all the reviewers, you can’t go wrong with these Sandals.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I've had these for about 18 months and they are still in great shape. I wear them regularly to wade in streams while I fish. These are also great for kayakers! If you are looking for a shoe that holds up well, even in wet conditions, this is the shoe for you. I've even worn these for an 8 mile hike with numerous stream crossings and they were great (wear socks during the dry portions of your hike though).
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
These shoes are great for any kind of hiking or wading through a stream. Pebbles and small sticks will tend to get in them and are hard to get out, but that is normal with any sandal. All around great sandal that provided protection to the toe.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I bought these shoes as a sort of hiking/bicycling cross, and to replace a truly ancient pair of Teva sandals. I have -very- wide feet, and the size 14 I picked up fits nearly perfectly, so I'm definitely happy with their sizing. As other reviewers have noted, sand and gravel does tend to get caught in this shoe more often than in other sandals, but I think it's worth the hassle given how much more versatile and robust these shoes are than most sandals.
The only problem I have noted with them so far is that the foot bed ridge, just behind my toes, isn't quite far enough back. It's not painful or blister-inducing, but if they offered replaceable foot beds or just moved it a few millimeters further from the toe, I'd have given these sandals a 5 star. As it stands, the ridge is annoying, but not so much I would hesitate to recommend these to a friend.
If you're not in the market for beach-combing sandals, and you're looking for something that breathes more than your hiking boots, these are the best option out there. No blisters, no hot spots, and no problems after 4 weeks of moderate use, and well worth the price.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Living in San Diego, sandals are a year-round workhorse shoe, so I've been through several pairs before trying these Keens. I was skeptical that a sandal could warrent a [$] price tag, but the value was apparent as soon as I put the H2's on. The sole and last feel more like a tennis shoe in terms of support and comfort. I was concerned that the closed toe would be too hot, but airflow throughout the shoe is surprisingly good. The sandal does fit true to size, although the upper is a little stiff at first. After a few times on and off it breaks in nicely.

Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I love Keens. They have provided some of the most comfortable shoes on mine and my family's shoe-rack. My dirty secret is that I rarely wear anything other than Keens (and Chakos, in the summer). I was excited to purchase a pair of these sandals. The beginnings were great -- they are comfortable, versatile, do not need substantial breaking in. After about 10 days, I started noticing an unpleasant odor and realized, to my endless embarrassment, that my feet are not breathing sufficiently. Washing the shoes helped, temporarily, but not for long. I thought that this was one of those moments of "it's not you, it's me," but then realized our kids had the same issue. And our neighbors. And the lady who took the pair back [...]mentioned that this seems to be a pervasive reason for their return. Maybe she was just nice...and it is just me, and my kids, and neighbors. But there it is.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Love these! I wore them on a multi day raft trip and they were superb! They do still make your feet a bit smelly, but the shoes themselves do not smell. I have several pairs of these as I like them so much!
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
I went through two pairs of these in three months. The Glue used did not hold up. If they were sticthed through they would be more durable. Very comfortable and good grip and fit. May try another pair if on sale but will not wear them in extreme conditions (boat bilges).
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
These sandals seem great all around. They are comfortable and fit well. My only complaint is that one of the sandals puts a bit of pressure on the big toe of one foot and could maybe contribute to a blister if used for longer distances; however, this will hopefully ameliorate after breaking them in.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
This is a great shoe for around the water or the campground shower. They dry fast and keep you moving.
They tend to have a narrow toe, so a half size bigger would be recommended. I wear a 13 but they don't make a half size for 13. The 14 is good, may feel a little long.
Like many sandals, they tend to smell after a while. Unlike the leather sandals, washing them helps with the smell.
Comments about Keen Keen Newport H2 Sandals - Men's:
Great everyday sandals. The toe guards are helpful, much better than regular sandals or flip-flops. Only flaw: Once sand or pebbles get inside the sandal, they won't come out on their own.
