This stove is beyond great. it is by far the easiest stove and most reliable I have used in quite some time.
Took this stove to MT.Rainier and it worked all the way to the summit and back without a flaw. boiled water above 10.000 feet in still under 2-3 minutes.
Do not waste your time with other stoves ( well you can) We also took a MSR wisperlight and a primus. The primus died and the Wisper light took a long time. The Jet Boil out preformed them all

Amazing speed and how quick you can boil a cup of water.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
you can boil 2 cups of water in any temperature weather in under 2 minutes. this is compact and light weight. i wouldnt even think to step foot on a trail without this in my bag. if you dont have one already you should.

This product is everything that has already been said. The only thing I didnt like was the lid arrangment you need to be very carful, steam easily gets you when you take it off. Thats the only thing keeping it from a five star rating. Great product. See ya in the Outdoors:)
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I recently used it on a 3 day backpacking trip in the North cascades, and it was the only cooking system used for 3 people, with 4 meals a day per person, hot drinks at night, gallons of drinking water sanitation, and warming personal care water.
This was all done with one 230G fuel can, to which we only used about 50% of it. I brought along a second 100G can (it easily fit in the cup so why not) and I thought I would have to utilize it, but was pleasantly surprised when I didn't.
The cooking system is incredibly easy to clean, assembles very easy, lights perfectly (makes an awesome sound), cooks FAST, and just amazes people in general.
The only thing that can be a slight drawback is the fact it only boils two cups at a time. Now, you CAN boil double that, but you MUST keep an eye on it to ensure it does not come to a rolling boil, and you must regulate the heat accordingly to keep it just on the edge. If you don't, it will boil over and cause a safety issue when trying to secure the heat source. The 2 Cup line and warning is clearly displayed inside the cup.
Overall, it's highly recommended, and will work great in just about any situation. Especially with all the awesome attachments and gadgets that go along with it.
Awesome... Using it to boil water for Coffee

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is a great stove - easy clean up and boils faster than anything else I've ever used. I've had my jetboil for 5 years now and used it often. After the first couple uses the auto-ignite completely failed, but this is easily fixed with a match or bic. The only real complaint I have is that the plastic cover on the bottom of the cup is nearly impossible to remove. I wonder if improvements have been made on newer models. I have almost gone without food b/c I couldn't remove the darn thing. I usually have to pry it off with my knife which has left it pretty tore up. Otherwise, it serves its purpose wonderfully.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I was very impressed by this product. It was easy to use, and there isn't a faster way to a hot meal.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I'm surprised at the high rating for this device. I bought one several years ago, but after a few uses, I went back to the far better combination of a simple canister stove (like Pocket Rocket), small pot (like something from GSI), and any cheap insulated mug.
The whole integrated JetBoil thing is just too complicated. The lid gets soft when exposed to a lot of steam, and can be hard to lift off while cooking. The neoprene jacket gets wet and stays wet, gets food on it, and lights on fire. The whole thing is no lighter than separate stove+pot+mug.
The pot is tall, and not the best for eating out of. The pot is too big for a simple cup of coffee, it will cool quickly.
The whole way the pot locks on to the stove seems simple enough, until the whole thing is boiling hot with a liter of soup. You can't just lift the pot on/off the stove while cooking. Other people can't just put their pot on your stove, everything has to be JetBoil-compatible.
Using the small canisters makes for a tall, unstable system.
As mentioned, if you have the gas on too long before you light the stove, the flame burst can light the neoprene on fire. My neoprene sleeve is damaged from this.
The thing basically works, but it is heavier, more expensive, and more limited than a few simple, separate components.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is a great stove. It made our trip. Bought for a Shasta assault. When we got to evening camp at 10500' we had missed out water stop and had a dehydrated team member. That evening I had to melt about 10 liters of water, not to mention cook dinner. Can't say how impressed I was. Compact, powerful, easy to handle bare handed. While at full throttle the flame did not even come close to damaging the tubes of my water filter that were hanging down the sides! One canister of fuel was more than enough. Thought it was going to be a little unstable but that was not an issue.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I reviewed this system previously and wanted to provide an update. I finally used up my first canister. I had been marking the canister after each use. After a whole year of using this stove I ended up with 26 boils from the small Jetboil fuel canister. Most of the use was between 8,000-12,000ft. I use it only for boiling water and then eat out of a meal pouch or ziploc bag. This stove is great for that! No clean-up except for licking the spoon clean.

Got jetboil because tired of waiting 10 minutes to boil water with liquid stove. Got jetboil and loved it. Boils water extremenly fast and is very light wait. Recomend getting stabalizer because very top heavy. other than that, great stove for backpacking. Best stove ever by far.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I used this on a two-nighter on the Colorado front range at about 9,000 feet. Worked great - made hot water, soup, and noodles in it. It's super fast, easy to set up and break down, easy to clean. Lights on the first igniter push pretty much all the time.
The ONLY con is its instability - you've gotta make sure it's upright, and it can be a little top-heavy. But it's not hard to find or make a four-inch flat spot.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I brought this on my first backpacking trip this weekend. It was excellent. It is compact, which is good because I have a small pack. It heats water to boiling SUPER FAST, much faster than the others I was with who used a different system. It is light weight. And it is easy to use. Just turn the knob for gas and hit the switch for spark and you are going.
One of the people I was with had an older one of these and he loved his too. But the spark switch didn't work, we just used a bic to create a spark, which was no problem.
Really great.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The speed at which this stove boils water is great. Oftentimes, I'm able to prepare two meals before my friends get the water heated for their first. For the price, I think this is a great investment. Buy it, and you won't be disappointed.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I absolutely love this stove. It is lightweight, I can pack all components into the cup for solo/minimal trips (even the fuel cannister), and is very easy to use. It works well at high altitude. Every time I go camping with someone, they always end up buying this stove after the trip because they like it so much. My only issue with it is that it only boils 2 cups of water with each use, so for more than 2 people, we usually have to boil a few batches of water...but this really isn't a big deal because it boils water so fast! The larger pot that goes with it works well to cook food like soup, seems to heat pretty evenly. Am looking at buying the pan to go along with the stove so we can have pancakes on our backcountry trips. Also, the utensils that jet boil makes work well, they telescope, so you eat your dehydrated food right out of the bag and not get your hands messy. I would highly recommend this stove to any type of camper/hiker/backpacker!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I can pretty much say what Brother Breeze wrote below. This stove performed perfectly. I've read some reviews where some customers said it was unstable, maybe so, but if you clip on the support to the bottom of the canister, it's stable as hell, no problem, and the attachment fits inside the container. My buddy, upon seeing how fast this thing boils water (under 3 minutes), proclaimed "that's the baddest freaking stove I've ever seen. I gotta get one.". I will never go into the woods or backcountry without it.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This system works great. Boils water extremely rapidly and fits well in my backpacking gear. Highly recommended.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Most everything I could say about this stove has already been said, and then some. I have had my Jetboil for two seasons now and I wouldn't trade it for any other stove on the market. It has been solidly dependable and easy to use. It is lightning fast in so many ways. Without fail, when camping with friends, I have usually finished eating AND cleaning before many of my fellow hikers have even taken a first bite. I always get the same comments, "Really? Your finished already? I've GOT to get one of those!" It unpacks and sets up quickly. It cooks quickly and evenly. It cleans up quickly, and I can have a BIG cup of fresh, hot coffee every morning, which is something I look forward to in the woods!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This stove surpassed all expectations and then some. Once the stove was ignited using the push of a button, I placed it on the ground. My buddy and I were both apprehensive about whether the Jetboil would live up to its reputation. Before I had finished my sentence I heard a strange sound coming from the stove; I believed it to be a leak with the seal at the time. As I peeled off the lid I realized that the water was already boiling. My buddy couldn't believe what he saw, as he himself had just finished a three and a half minute boil with his MSR Pocket Rocket (which is also a great stove). I had barely set it down when the water began to boil. While I do admit that these may not be typical results, my experience was exceptional.
The setup and take down was elementary; in addition, the ability to store the stove and fuel cell in the presiding container is extremely beneficial. I have not tried this stove at altitude as I hear there are many issues with the cold fuel cells and stove pressure, but regardless, I don't think I have been this impressed in a while.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This product defies the laws of Physics!
Pros:
-Lights easy
-holds plenty of water
-boils water quickly!!!
Cons:
-Very unstable. A strong breeze could blow it over
-Hard to clean
If I can get a hot meal quickly, the good definately outweighs the bad for this product. It also sounded like a jet when lit, but that didn't bother me.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I really want to like this stove more than I do. I give it a 4 star rating because every time it has failed me, there has been something that isn't entirely JetBoil's fault.
The first time it failed on me, I was sailing on a cold fall day (40 degrees, 20+ kts of wind and wet on deck) on a boat whose main propane system was out of commission. The stove refused to light. I learned later that the gap in the piezo ignitor was too big. By bending it down, I was able to get a stronger spark and make the lighting more consistent. This didn't help me at the time though. I tried using a butane grill ignitor, but the flame was too small to get the stove lit.
The second time was a winter hike that ended up being a good deal colder than expected. Despite the "4 season" claim on the fuel, it utterly refused to light. Admittedly it was about 0F, which is probably too cold for any liquefied gas stove, but I had kept the brand new fuel bottle inside my jacket, so I was disappointed. Fortunately it was only a day hike, so there were no really unpleasant consequences.
Basically, I think this system is great in mild weather. Any time I have tried to use it at a time when a really hot drink is needed, it has failed to light for one reason or another. I don't hold this completely against the stove since the conditions were poor, but I wouldn't trust this system in bad weather. That said, within its limitations, it is an innovative system that is very packable. I would recommend it to a friend, but only with the reservations above.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I like the Jetboil for it's simplicity and compactness. It boils 2 cups of water in about 3 minutes and it is relatively easy to light. My only problem has been getting the cup off of the stove base. It seems to have gotten a little easier as i have "broken it in" more but i broke the ignitor trying to get the cup off once. luckily I was car camping that time so I was able to drive to town and pick up the maintenance kit.
My only suggestion and it is one i live by now, bring a spare maintenance kit with. They are around 15 bucks but worth it if you happen to need it.

It won awards for a reason. Oatmeal, chilli, dehydrated camp food, noodles and coffee grounds never stood a chance. If your going to be cooking for one (or even two) people on an extended trip, this is your stove.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This was awesome on a 4 day trip into the Sawtooth mountains. Everyone else had brought canisters to boil water in and such and we ended up just using this instead.
I would recommend the stabilizer feet though. Hard to balance on anything without them.
DON'T PUT ANYTHING IN THE CUP BUT WATER. Don't try to cook in the cup. The smell and taste just won't come out.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is a great little stove, packs into a compact package, makes great coffee, boils water in no time at all, and is generally easy to operate. My only complaint is that the first time the water boiled over and got on the lighter element, it has been difficult to light ever since. I should take it apart and see if it can be fixed, but for 4 days in the mountains I had to light it with matches.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
With a family of six, we were looking for a portable stove to take camping and backpacking. We purchased a single JetBoil system with the anticipation of buying a second if it worked out. We were able to cook hot dogs and chili in ten minutes with a single stove for our first meal. Clean up is a breeze. This is a great stove, and you can be sure a second one will be added to our gear!
The PCS container held just enough chili for all

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Well I still think this is over priced. That's why I gave it a 4 star instead of 5. That said last night the dividend check came,[$]... and this bad boy is mine. I've used one before ... that's why I wanted it ... but the price was just ... a bit much for what it was. Guess it's good that I had the will power to wait. Got it for "free to me" (excellent price) and REI's stock is the new version not the version that's being recalled (see Jetboil's webpage). It's everything positive people are saying. I did get the stabilizer feet and adaptor so you can use it with regular pots. But as it is ... it's fine. I'd highly reccmd it to a friend with the concern about the price.[...] I rather doubt you'd be sorry.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This has been one of my best purchases. Only minor problem I ever encountered was storing the gas canister inside the cup before letting the cup completely dry out. Left a small amount of rust from the fuel canister at the bottom of the cup but was easily cleaned up when I got home. Make sure to take a plastic baggie to store the fuel canister if you will be using this on the ground. I prefer to use the hanging kit combined with my hammock to keep it off the ground.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
almost perfect needs to use different kinds of fuel. A bit unstable with small gas canisters. Boils fast but not as fast as they say. Works almost flawless. I would recommend to a friend.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
High altitude cold weather tip!!!
I have been using this stove for 3 years now after switching from an MSR Pocket Rocket. I use it mainly for boiling water for dehydrated food and making coffee with the french press you can buy for it. If this is what you only use it for, there isn't really anything that works better.
One main note. ALL isobutane canister stoves do not like to perform well at high altitude in the cold.
One trick I have found is that I throw the canister of fuel wraped inside a sock in the foot of my sleeping bag overnight. I pull it out just before I need to use it and it is a night and day difference from using a cold canister fuel.
It still uses quite a bit more fuel at altitude, but I have found that I only need to carry one more canitser of fuel than normal for a 3 day backpack trip above 7,000 feet.
Happy backpacking and Go Aggies!!!!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
X2 on the igniter issues. First time out on a kayak trip to the Everglades. The igniter worked intermittently. Second time out, saw it was sparking from the middle of the insulator. Luckily replacements are available off the shelf. Granted, the piezo is not the only way to the stove, but it was a strong selling feature and one should be able to expect it to survive one trip. Also ditto on the cold weather performance. It slows WAY down and this was in the Glades.
Bottom line: great stove when it works right. plan to buy extra igniter kits.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is as close to a perfect product as you can get. As a hiker who wants a kitchen that's lightweight and works fast - this is it. Can boil water in 2-3 minutes flat. Great for hot cocoa, tea, coffee, hot cereal and those ready to eat meal pouches. Simple to use and enjoy.

I have an MSR Dragon fly that has been extremely reliable for me for years but White Gas is heavy and messy. The Jet Boil was advertised as a great year round quick boiling stove which may be the case but certainly not in cold weather.

This the best stove I have ever used. Taken with me on a trek to the Auli-Kuari Pass in the Himalayas, it worked like a charm. In rainy weather, keep it off of the ground and under tree cover by using the Jetboil Hanging Kit---also good in windy weather to keep it stable. Simply awesome to start but never drink hot liquids without the rubber cover...ouch!!!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This stove is just what the touring motorcyclist could want. It is quick to assemble, quick to light and most of all quick to boil!
My riding buds brought their white gas stoves but I was boiling water by the time they had their stoves lit and was eating by the time they had water boiling. Their stoves didn't get used again that trip.!
This stove will do hard boil to low simmer something I couldn't get my previous stove to do.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Got this for Search and Rescue training and there is nothing sweeter than crawling, very cold and tired into my sleeping bag, then with a turn and a click having hot water ready in just over 2 minutes. this stove is sweet. However, you really can't control the temperature. You either have hot, boiling water, or hot boiling water a little bit faster. I love it. I use it. You should too.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I bought my stove several years ago when it was still rather new on the market. I use it to boil water for freeze dried meals, and for hot drinks. Occasionally I'll cook Ramen noodles in the cup. I love how efficient it is, especially with space. Very attractive package when its all closed up.
TIP: I wrap a paper towel around the bottom of my fuel canister before putting it away, this contains any potential rust. Then I slip my plastic fork in (generic polycarbonate, full size), forked end along side the fuel. The stove slides down with the fork handle poking through the center holes. Then the lid goes on with the last two inches of fork handle poking out the drinking hole.
I keep a few tea bags in the bottom mug section. I love how everything is neatly packaged and clean. Quick and simple to use, 2 cup mark in the main cup, the plastic mug is also marked for measuring. I'm no chef, I just want hot water and this is the way to get it.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The Jetboil is simply the best backpacking stove that I have ever used. It boils water extremely fast and uses very little fuel. I also recommend getting the stabilizer so it doesn't fall over. The only thing to be careful of are the flames shooting out the side of the stove. You could never, ever use this thing inside of a tent.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The best backpacking stove on the market in my opinion. I'm giving it five stars relative to other products even though I note one con. I have trouble at times disconnecting the mug from the base.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The JetBoil system works excellent. The speed of boil is outstanding and the stove lights very easily. The stability of the stove is dependent upon the size of canister you place it on, I used a 100g canister and it was very stable. The only potential drawback, which in my opinion is not a drawback at all is when you seperate the mug from the base to pour your hot liquid you have to grasp the neoprene outer covering and squeeze firmly to disconnect the mug from the base without chance of spillage. My solution was to simply pick up the entire stove (It weighs nothing) and pour out the liquid. Overall a fantastic stove! Would by another one in a heart beat.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I bought one of these because a friend had one and it seemed to work well. It really does!! It's primary purpose is heating water for noodles, rehydrating food or warming soups. My guess is that a tomatoe based /greasy soup may stain the pot/bowl. I have not tried it on anything that was harder to cook. Though not "tipsy" or unstable, when full of water it is a tall column of water on a base that is slightly smaller so you need to be a little carefull that it is level and you dont knock it over. This is the only reason I do not give it 5 stars.
It is amazingly powerfull for its size and I would recommend it highly.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This stove is extremely easy to set up, light, and boil water. It withstood fairly high winds. It boils water in about a minute which is priceless when you are hungry and cold. I used it for a week hike down the Oregon coast and it was a lifesaver. I've had bulky stoves before, but never again. It wasn't the cheapest but well worth the extra cash. Just messing around, I tried to cook eggs w/ it, but it was obviously waaay too hot of a stove (not temp control), and it burned the heck out of them...so thats a no go. Its nice to have the fuel fit inside the cup. One small fuel lasted me all week (2-3 meals a day).

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
i love how everything packs into its self with this thing, boils water like lightning! there is something a friend of mine told me when i was looking at stoves, "He who has a JetBoil eats first"
BE SURE to dry it well! cause if you toss your fuel in first with the stove on top you'll get a nice rust ring in it and it's a real pain to get it clean after that.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is a good stove in hot Summer heat BUT!!!!! On a recent trip to Wyo/Mont. Absorka/Beartooth range where the AM temps were in the 20's to 30's I was experiencing my Jetboil PCS with the winter fuel blend, to take almost 10 minutes to boil 2 cups of water, far from the advertised 2min. 42 sec.. As a result, I was only able to boil water for about 3 liters of water instead of the advertised 11 per 100gr fuel can. Needleless to say I was glad I brought extra fuel cans, but at [$] a pop per fuel can, this stove is expensive to run in cool weather, compared to white gas stoves. This stove is best used as a (1 season) summer stove, and if you stretch it to 3 season use, plan on extra boil time x 2-3, and getting 3-4 liters per fuel can not 11!!!!!Not recommended for winter use, unless you have lots of money, fuel, and patience!!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Boils water fast! I like to keep my meals simple and clean, so most of the time it is freeze dried and instant meals. My wife and I went camping and found that 1L of water to be quite adequate for 1 freeze dried meal (2 serving) and a hot beverage (for each of us). The first day of use the piezo lighter gave up on me, which was disappointing, but a minor setback considering how efficient it works. Then after coming home, I checked the Jetboil’s FAQ and found that if you bend the piezo wire closer to the burner it should fix the problem. Works perfectly now!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This product really is that good. Even at high altitudes (>10000 ft.) I was able to get my JetBoil PCS to boil water even faster than the company's claim of 2 minutes (1-minute, 48-seconds).
The system is small, lightweight, and all parts nest within the cup/pot - including a fuel canister and coffee press!
The aluminum cup/pot is insulated with neoprene, easy to clean, and takes up very little room for as many uses as it offers.
The stove is easy to light, wind resistant, and very, very efficient so you will need to carry less fuel than you would with most traditional stoves.
Here is a recipe which I created just for the JetBoil PCS system:
Dirt Road Chicken Chili
1 15.5 oz Can Kidney Beans, Drained
1 .85 oz. Envelope Instant Tomato Cup-of-Soup
1 - 2 TBSP Chili Powder or Chili Seasoning (To Taste)
1 7 oz. Pouch Premium Chunk Chicken Breast
1 Cup Water
Salt To Taste
Place drained kidney beans, chili powder & instant tomato soup into a 1-quart Ziploc bag or other storage container for transport.
Add kidney bean mixture and chicken into JetBoil cooking cup, then fill to 2-Cup line with water. Bring to a boil then simmer on low for 8 minutes. Salt to taste. Enjoy!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I bought this after a friend had one during a past kayaking trip down the colorado river. He was finished eating by the time I was ready to eat! One problem I had after my purchase, the igniter broke after the 3 time lighting it... on the river, used matches and called jetboil after my return. No questions asked, they sent a new igniter with instructions. Still using it with no plans to change, it is a bit hard to clean if you dont pay attention and burn what your cooking.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Bought this stove before camping in Zion, Grand Canyon. Purchased 1 tank of fuel based on reports about how efficient this stove was. Trip was 2 people camping for 4 days. Cooked first meal on Monday night and ran out of fuel before we got enough really hot water for oatmeal Wednesday morning. Had a wind shield up to help things along every time we boiled water. Igniter failure but the backup matches worked. Time to dig out the Coleman Multifuel again.

I have had the stove for the past 3 years. It is a great stove for boiling water. It also makes a great
cup of coffee when you use the coffee press.
I tried making a pasta side dish in the pot but the stove would not stay lit when I was trying to keep the water at simmer. If your planing on only eating dehydrated meals and oatmeal. Then this is a great stove for you.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The JetBoil is excellent for long distance motorcycle touring. Compact to fit in saddlebag. No potentially messy fuel. EASY setup. Fast operation. Ready availability of fuel. We don't have the size and weight restrictions of an ultra backpacker, but we are very limited on both. A quality product that's right at home on my BMW R1100RT!
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Heats water super fast. Very efficient. But bring your matches. The electronic ignition failed after the first use.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Wow... really happy with this purchase. Have made all different kinds of soups, tea and coffee in it. A couple friends went out and bought the system after seeing how easy mine came to a boil and afterwards, clean up with water. Still, perhaps the only downside is the expense of accessories (the pot and pan are two thirds of the original cost) but I still buy them because I want to see what else this thing does!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Bought this thing and two of the group cooking systems at a scratch-and-dent sale at my local store. I wasn't sure about the concept but for the price, I couldn't help but try it... and I am sure glad I did. I dont use the group pots that much as they aren't as clever about being able to fit everything inside, but the individual is perfect for almost everything. I cook, eat, boil water and make coffee out of it. It hauls tail to a boil, and if you don't press the lid down all the way and keep close eye on it, the boil-over isn't really a problem. Because of the insulation, you get alot more boil-for-your-buck out of each canister. Each one lasts generally about a week or so for just myself, 2 meals plus tea/coffee a day. The ignitor seems to give some people grief but at only 10 bucks or so to replace, it really isn't that big a deal for otherwise a near-perfect stove.
I have dragonflys, whisperlites, XGKs and other stoves and this is by far my favorite for most types of trips.

hot water in a hurry . easy to use, very powerful. just watch your fingers if you have to remove the lid when hot.overall a great addition to my gear..

Perfect for what it is intended for...being lightweight and boiling water quickly.

What's there left to say that hasn't already been said about this stove?
I just took this over Donahue Pass on the John Muir Trail, and it performed wonderfully. Mainly I used it to just heat water for dehydrated food packets, but it boiled the water quickly (I'd estimate less than two minutes in most cases) One can of fuel lasted myself and two of my companions 4 days. In the future I'll be taking less fuel. (I took 6 cans in order to be prepared!)

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The pros: it heats quickly and is not very susceptible to the weather or wind. It's light weight and everything compacts nicely inside.
The cons: It boils over easily with the lid on. It feels too big for a one person meal but not quite the right size for cooking many things. I am always carrying a little skillet pan with me. I hate eating out of it so I bring a separate bowl.
For boiling water, there is nothing better. For cooking... I'm not so sure.
Oh, and the ignitor keeps failing, but that's no big deal.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I purchased this with the extended base, pot support, and the French Press. These are perfect additions to the unit.
This set up is best used to heat water, which it rapidly does, and to add that water to dehydrated food.
While I have a military style mess kit, the advent of easily obtainable freeze dried food, has caused me to not yet use it. I would suspect, the mess kit pot and fry pan would require a very level surface, as Jet Boil's pot support, provides little actual contact area.
I like the fact that the stove assembly, French Press, Pot Support, and fuel canister, all stow within the Jet Boil Cup.
For my use, with freeze dried food, it is perfect and light.
My old portable stove, was a white gas Primus...which can in no way compare!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I have been using the jetboil system on a monthly basis for about two years. I like everything about it except the shape of the container. It's tall and narrow design makes it difficult to get those last bits of food out of the bottom and even harder to get burned-on food residue scraped off.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is a great stove. It works really well, its easy to pack up, boils super fast, and its really easy to light. GREAT STOVE!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Jet Boil, THANK YOU. This is the most compact and versitile stove ever. I used it too cook everything. I had read a review where someone said it didnt do good with simmering.
Well it simmered just fine and boiled faster than i've ever seen. I am totally, 100%, pleased.
P.S.
the only thing that could make this better is if people bought it more so the price would go down some. EVEN THOUGH ITS NOT EXPENSIVE.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
All I need for backpacking is a water boiler and this stove does that very well. I love the push button convenience. I keep telling myself that I need to switch to a little alcohol stove to save a few ounces but I really don't want the hassle.
I used my stove about 35 days last season and had no trouble with it. It works in wind, rain, cold, and altitude. It will work with fuel from other vendors if necessary.
I have noticed a few minor issues.
Sometimes the igniter button requires more force than it should.
The stabilizer kit should come standard. The stove is not safe without it.
Removing the lid can be a bit dangerous.

Top heavy, even with added base falls over in snow. Lid is very difficult to remove, you have to hold on to the based in order to remove lid.

Thee of us used this on a five-day hike along the SNP section of the AT in early March. Functioned perfectly. Temp was below freezing at times. Very fast. Boiled water for all three of us, three meals a day on ONE can of fuel. We were the envy of other backpackers we met.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I have two of these stoves, the leg stabilizers, one fry pan, a 2 liter pot, two cups, and the utensils. I use freeze dried foods or "boil in the bag" types of foods. The cup system works very well for this. It boils water very quickly. I have had no problems with either stove. I use them in very wet to dry/cool conditions mostly. I cook some wild plants and foods and have not had any problems. The hanging system takes a little bit to get used to, the legs do work well for stabilizing the smaller diameter cannisters. Larger diameter cannisters are no problem and will give you a lot of usage and cook a lot of meals and hot drinks out of one container. This is a very economical system. I highly recommend Jetboil products.
REI's service and products are outstanding. I would recommend (and frequently do recommend) REI to other people.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Purchased this product and went to try it out on my first trek into the south sierra wilderness this year and was trully disappointed. I was only able to make one cup of coffee before the bottom spot weld broke while trying to get the black up of the bottom and the cup would no longer hold water. Though it boils water quickly it is very unstable and quite a pain to use. I had high hopes for this system but will be returning it and buying a different stove.

System is great for my 1-3 night trips in CO at a variety of altitudes. No issues to date, have had lighter systems but enjoy the fact everything is self contained. Haven't used the coffee press, friends have an like it. I simply throw in a coffee pod or two & let steep (easy to pack out.)

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I was initially feeling sticker shock with this purchase, but I treated myself to this purchase with my REI divided check 3 years ago. Ever since, this stove has been on every adventure and never leaves my vehicle. I cook with it, I heat water for warm drinks, and frequently make use of dehydrated meals for the ultimate travel convenience. I can't tell you how nice it is to have a nice warm drink or a cup of hot noodle soup after an early morning sunrise photos. The cup/cozy itself feels great on my cold hands, but the warmth in the body is pure luxury.
The Jetboil perfect alone just for emergencies backed in the car, but you will find it never gets packed away. too useful to put away.
The craftsmanship of this product is amazing, every component stacks, swivels, collapses to fit within the cup for storage. There is attention to every detail from the Jetboil unit (measuring cup, insulating cozy, molded cover that allows sipping, and even to the accessories. The stove heats water so fast it seems to drastically reduce the amount of fuel it consumes.
Although I don't recommend being clumsy, I have accidentally toppled this stove over. Thankfully I didn't get burned, but even better I didn't start a fire. The frame around the heating coil prevented the frames from any direct contact. I seriously recommend the three legged stand which can be packed right into the cup as well for added support, this would have been good to use on this occasion.
Jetboil thought of everything and then some.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
One of the fastest ways for the soloist hiker to boil water, this stove will get 2 cups of water to a rolling boil in less than 2 minutes. I've found that other stoves take about twice this long. Stove and fuel packs nicely into the cup during transport. The bottom cover cup can also be used as a measuring cup. Make sure you dry the cup out when you're done. Any moisture left in the cup can start to corrode the bottom of the fuel cannister, leaving a ring of rust in the bottom of the cup.

Add the coffee press accessory to this and you have a great coffee maker.
Friday nights I will pull into the parking lot of my local high school football team and in about 8 minutes have a thermos full of fresh made coffee to enjoy with the game.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This stove has incredible output. I mostly use it to boil, that's it. I think that's what this stove was designed for and it does it quickly. Everything fits inside the cup, stacks up, and takes up little room in your pack. Cleaning is simple and maintenance low.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I've had my Jetboil for about two years now. It has been very reliable. It boils a cup of water in no time which saves fuel and in turn saves me weight and money. It is kind of unstable but I bought the stabalizer and it fixed the problem, weighs nearly nothing and fits in the cup. I also bought the pot support and it worked out allright with a small frying pan or a pot. You lose the faster boiling time because of the lack of the flux ring but I hardly ever use it. I have noticed a increase in boiling times in colder weather but it is still faster than other canister stoves. The lid has developed some cracks but it still does its job. Besides a pop can/alcohol stove the Jetboil is the only stove I use.
Its not for everyone but if your cooking mainly involves boiling water it is the very best stove IMO.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Purchased last night and immediately took it home to inspect it. First observations indicate that it is well built and made from durable material. The kit is very compact as all the parts store inside the cup including a fuel canister. I then set it up and tried it. Had a hot meal in about 10 minutes using some dehydrated meal also purchased at REI. Great combo, will be keeping this in the disaster kit in my truck along with some dehydrated meals. BOTTOM LINE: this is a quality item, and I would not hesitate to recommend this to others!

Try to avoid cooking food in the cup because the bottom is hard to clean in the field. Boil water in it and then use a camp bowl to mix up your food.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I have been using this product for over 2 years now. It has served me well on dozens of backcountry trips. I have never had any problems with it and the stability is fine as long as you use it on a relatively flat surface. Highest altitude I have used it at is just above 10,000 ft. Boiled 2 cups of water from my nalgene in 45 seconds at that altitude. Snow takes a little longer, but it is still the fastest, lightest, most efficient stove I have ever seen or used.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Wow.. this is a cool stove. I keep this thing around for all sorts of uses. There is no doubt that this thing can really heat up water fast. I have taken this on the casual camping trip, to the boundary waters, hunting trips etc. I even keep this guy in the car with the coffee attachment for those days that I don't like the cruddy office coffee.
I will say that the push-button igniter eventually stopped working reliably - which is so stinking frustrating. But overall it has worked great.
I even one day took it too the office to show the guys.. Well that was the worst place to use it cause everyone and their brother was there to see this thing work. Well I don't know if I was just over zealous, under experienced or just plain foolish.. but that was the only time I have ever had an accident with the Jetboil - in front of 8 witnesses..
I think I want to get the Jetboil stove attachment next. The coffee french press has worked fantastic!!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Great little stove. Works well at altitude. Took it hiking for 3 weeks this summer with no problems. Use it while at ski areas in Colorado. Fire up this stove in the lodge and heat water for a freeze dried meal, way cheaper than buying at food court. Make Hot chocolate for the kids while snowshoeing. Easy to use, easy to clean and simple. You do have to be careful about stability. Definitaly would recomend

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Good little stove. I haven't used this above 9000 feet but I did use it in sub-freezing temps and some decent winds and it worked great. It melted snow and boiled the water in about 2 and 1/2 minutes inside my tent. I then proceeded to spill the water on my left hand resulting in a sweet burn. When asked how my stove performs I need only show my newest scar.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I hold all its parts inside it. It boils water super fast. It has has a built in insulated mug. If you only cook by boiling water what more do you want. It is a kind of unstable, but to me that is a small complaint.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Packs small. Great for boiling water.Fast. Pretty good in wind. One complaint and that's the adjustment knob would be so much nicer if it was wire and it stood out further. This baby boils fast. Once i turned my back for a second and it boiled over and at that point it's very hard to turn down unless you want to get burned. Not for the gourmet cooks, unless you buy the accessories and it's getting heavy and pricey buy then.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I have used many stoves over the years and aside from just starting a fire, this is the most compact and easy to use thing I have found. I have also used the Group system but find it difficult to avoid burning food. As for some of the reviews about parts breaking, as the scouts say, "always be prepared." This is GREAT for boiling water, hot drinks, freeze dried foods, hot dogs etc. but, ultralight hikers understand you cant expect to be able to make a quiche on the trail with this.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Compact, yet big enough for two people use.
The fastest boiling stove I've ever seen, in it's category (and I've seen a lot). Last time I used it, I was at 7500ft., exposed to wind in mid teens temperature and boiled a little over two cup (from melting SNOW), in 4min. and 53sec. I'm not like that all the time I was just checking it and was very impressed, that's why I'm writing this review.
Other then little issues with stability, didn't find any cons yet.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The Jet boil is quick easy and good all around, I actually really like it. However, if your planning on high altitude and freezing temps, forget about this stove as an option. Fuel canisters will be tapped very quickly, especially if boiling over 2 cups. Performance cliffs off at about 10,000 feet in cold... when used at 13K in snow, 1 jet boil fuel can gave us two full cup boils, and ran out. Need better fuel option.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I love this stove for boiling water and heating soups, but I bought the Pot stabilizing kit thinking I could use the ocasional fry pan on long trips when a freshly caught fish was added to the menu, but it's not meant to be. I found a single hot spot in the center of my pan to be troublesome. A "really good" fry pan would help, but still not good. Still, it's my stove of choice when boiling water is what I need most.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I use this for coffee, tea, rice, noodles, cocao, etc.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I have used the jet-boil system numerous times on summer and fall hikes in Northern Minnesota. It seems to work fine when the weather is above freezing. On my last winter hiking trip where temperatures were below zero the jet-boil left me stranded by not melting snow in reasonable time. Average melt time for 2 cups of water was about 30 minutes; I didn't have the patience to get the water to a boiling temperature. Again, great for warm weather trips, but shop around for a winter stove.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Recently used the product on the beach in VA. Winds had minimal effect. Cooked 2 decent meals for 2 people on 100g fuel can. Don't spend extra money on Jetboil brand fuel. MSR and Giga worked fine for less. Stability in sand not an issue, but I bought and use the fuel can stand accessory kit that you need for using the larger Jetboil pot. All in all, great stove, but you can easily get lured into buying the accessories if you are cooking for more than one person...gets expensive.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Very spiffy engineering. Works as advertised and best with the support stand. Hard to resist the cleverness. I feel guilty and silly every time I lug its one-half-pound-more-than-it-should-be carcass up a hill then find myself admiring it later as it boils my water. I love it. No, I hate it. A smaller, lighter trully "solo" version would be even more clevererer.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I got this back when they first came out (took a bullet with the price) but my other stoves now sit at home. Works great at high altitude (12,000' +) and it heats food faster than anything else I've used.
Yes it is a little unstable but I got the stabilizer kit and it works fine - the kit fits inside as well.
My only complaint is that sometimes it doesn't light with the igniter so I have to pull out matches or lighter.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I work in the oil and gas industry and spend a lot of time at a computer out in the field. Sometimes days at a time. I can use the jetboil to make coffee or tea in the cup, then make a bowl of soup in a pot on top of it. Since I'm in a vehicle, I'm not limited to what to what I pack in so I've tried all sort of meals and all were easy and good. Everyone should have one(or more) of these. The First thing I tried was making coffee with the press and that worked well. However the cup is permanently stained. No smell but stained none the less.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Just came back from summiting Guadalupe Mountain. Spent the night on the mountain but to our surprise right after dusk winds kicked up to 40 mph with gusts between 60-70 MPH. Without any problem at all the Jetboil lit after two clicks and stood lit without any problem. I really thought that it would go out with the wind gusts but it didn’t!

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is a good stove for boiling water. It can be used for backpacking if shared among 2-4 hikers with staggered eating times. It's too heavy and big to be worth carrying for one backpacker. I wouldn't use it for anything other than boiling water for coffee or to reconstitute freeze dried food. Boil in the bag cooking also works.
When used with the small 4 oz fuel canister for backpacking, it is unstable. I place rocks around the base to give it more stability.
I mostly use it as a second stove for car camping: boiling water for coffee or heating water for cooking and cleanup. I use the large 16 oz Primus container for car camping. That greatly increases the stabilty versus the 4 or 8 oz containers.
I have problems with the ignitor working above 4000 feet. I can see it spark but it doesn't reliably light.
On several occasions, I've see the flame flare up around and above the top of the pot. My guess is that liquid fuel got into the top of the tank during transport and sputters out during the first few seconds.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
While this is touted as the best backpacking stove out there, I would look into other options. The temperature is harrd to adjust.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I am a beginning backpacker and i bought this stove over the howls of protest from my more experienced friends who use pocket rockets. while the rocket is a great product, this is probably the best all-in-one unit i have ever used. fast boil times, compact storage. the only thing that i bring besides this is a spork and a cup. i would bring an alternate means of ignition, i have never fully trusted piezo electric elements although it has not failed yet. while it can be a little tipsy on the ground ( i would watch it closely) i can also use it where other stoves are useless, where the terrain is not friendly, i can hold the cup and cook or rest the unit on my thigh while holding it. bottom line, not good for groups but excellent as ( as the name states, a personal cooking system)
it is also a good idea to practice with it to get a good idea as to what you can or cannot do with it. Very satisfied with product.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I love this stove! I take it every where when I know I might want a quick cup of coffee somewhere and I'm not near a convienience store! It's a great all around stove. The only two things I don't like is that it's not non-stick coated on the inside and it only holds two cups at a time.
I find that it's better to just use it to boil water and not to cook food in it.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The lighter breaks easily and I have broken three of them. they are hard to replace. The stove is easily toppled and the fuel can must be warmed to perform as advertised. It does work well in very high wind when stoves that require priming are dangerous to light. this is, of course only if you have not broken the lighter. I like the coffee press. The lid for the pot does not fit when it gets cold and shrinks a little. I have never been able to cook anything solid in the Jet boil without burning a large part of it on the bottom. This is very difficult to clean. I find it is best used to make hot drinks and soups. I prefer product that are dependable and easily maintained in the backcountry
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I use this front country and back. It boils water in no time flat. Weight and space considerations are minimal. Wouldn't try to heat water for a meal any other way. In fact, I don't even use my large front country stove anymore because this is easier and faster.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is a great device the only drawback is the size of the burner for heating other pans the heat is not dispersed well on a large pot or even a frying pan
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Very fast boil time - better than advertised; fuel lasts well too. Very hard to light and keep lit in wind. Really no temp control - either on or off, though probably doesn't matter unless you plan to cook something other than water. Without stability kit, tips in wind or on surfaces not completely level.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The JetBoil is a great system, and is widely praised by some as the best personal cooking system. The only major flaw I see in the design is the ignition switch, which has gone out twice now. I have talked with other owners as well as a representative at [...] customer service and most Jet Boils are returned because of this issue.Just be well prepared by bringing extra matches. Also, I've found that it's best not to overfill the container as this may cause water to spill out and cause the ignitor switch to short out.The advantage of the JetBoil is speed, it's very fast and convenient. The container also allows for easy storage and packing.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I love the Jetboil. Great on Backpack adventures.
Boils water fast and efficient.
The most economical way to conserve fuel. Took me forever to burn through a can. Like the idea that you can throw other fuel canisters on there and it works like a dream.
Optional French press is a must!!
Also get the pot... it will become the only camp cookware you use.
2 thumbs up for the Jetboil.
I use it on every campout, it worked well up in the mountains and out on the coast!
Packs up well and is easy to use. Lights even in the worst weather.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The igniter did break on my first trip, Got a new one and works great just be Carefully not to drop it lots of hard bumps pack it in near your clothes for extra padding
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The jetboil excels at boiling water for dehydrated meals. I've also cooked a bunch of ramen packages in the cup. Just don't add the seasoning packet until the noodles are ready and the burner is off. If you don't it'll boil over the top and make a mess of things.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is great stove for backpacking and trying to keep it light. I use it for only heating up water for drinks or freeze dried food. I would not use it for cooking food itself inside for I think heat control would be difficult. I would get the fry pan and use that to cook from when you need to but watch it for the heat tends to concentrate in the center
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Great stove, very powerful. Boils water in about 1-2 minutes. However, my igniter somehow broke and stopped working during my first trip. It really sucked having to use matches everytime, but I would advise always having them as a backup. Went home and disassembled the stove and found that the outside of the igniter had cracked. Bought the maintanence kit and problem solved. Get the stabilizer and support kit as it will make you feel a lot safer when you're cooking.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
My buddies and I used this on a weekend backpacking trip through the Pemigewasset wilderness in the White Mtns, NH. It was fast, easy to pack, and overall great. Having everything pack into the canister is very convenient. I had no trouble lighting it, and I used the 4 season fuel mix, as it got pretty cold (about 38) during the night. The morning coffee in the mountains never tasted so good, and our dehydrated meals were a snap. If all you need is hot water fast, I definitely recommend this. I would use this year round, including on day hikes in the winter, when all I want is some hot chocolate out on the trail.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This cooking system is awesome. I like the flexability of the product. I added the java kit and it makes great coffee. You can add another cup for someone else. It is lightweight and sturdy. The fuel usage is very good.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Whether boiling water or cooking a simple meal in the cup, no other cooking system could be simpler.
But it would be a 5-star system if Jetboil could reduce the weight especially with the plastic molding around the stove.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Boils rapidly. I have used many brands of gas cannisters w/o difficulties. Nice coffee press and large pot or pan attachment.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I work on a hotshot crew during the fire season and I always pack my jet boil either in the crummy or in my spike bag. Boils water within minute/s and everything is contained within itself when your done so its easy to pack. Cost is a little bit more but after you use it you'll never regret spending the little extra cash.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Really nice little stove. Everything fits inside the pot so that makes it really easy to pack and then pull back out and use. Lightweight and fuel efficency are great, took it out the first time thinking that I might need two or three canisters, only had to use one. Spend the extra money on the stabilizing legs. Put a book of matches in the bottom in case you pack the stove wrong and screw up the piezo lighter.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is another permanent member in my rigs 'adventure' kit. Whenever I go into the back country I pack this and a couple days of freeze dried food and I know I'm good to go. What I've found is that this makes a fantastic gift for hard to shop for outdoorsmen.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Used this little gem for the first time this past weekend in the higher elevations (11,000+) of the eastern Sierras and could have not been happier. I was able to use the Jetboil and one canister the entire weekend; cooked approximately 12 - 2 cup meals and still have fuel left. I also purchased the french press kit as well as the pot support and stabilizer kit; all worked great and provided the added value I was looking for. Boiled water fast, was easy to clean and could be used as a coffee cup while protecting my hands from the hot metal; great product! I just wished I had thought of it.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I like this stove. I cook all my back country meals by boiling water and adding the water to the package. I reuse my freeze-dry dinner package to cook instant oatmeal and ramon noodles in. This is the perfect stove for my eating habits. The igniter did break on my first trip. No big deal to light with lighter/match.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I have been using this for a year now and it is GREAT. I love this stove. It boils water fast and it is easy to store everything together within the cooking cup. It lights fast with with built in igniter. I take it everywhere I go into the wild. The only thing I don't like is how the company charges a premium for all of the add-ons. Overall a great product that I would suggest to anyone.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This unit is a great little unit I used it up to 10.000' without a hitch, I have tried several other stoves but had bad wind interference, which does not affect this stove as bad. I can’t wait to try their new fry pan that goes with this stove. The only thing I would change is a wider flame to heat more evenly with the fry pans that I have

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Best stove ever. Light, compact, fuel-efficient, lights every time. No, it's not easy to clean because there's a wetsuit material-type sleeve on the outside, but if you're not making fondue, who cares? And no it's not all that stable, but that's a function of its size. For boiling water for hot drinks and make-in-bag dinners, it's perfect.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is the best stove ever. No messy propane bottles, packs easily, heats very quickly. Can feed a family of four without food getting cold and eating in shifts. Wow!
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I looked along time before buying yet another stove but with my REI dividend why not now. Used it first time on a 7 day backpack, boiled lots of water, made coffee 2 times a day and still had gas left over in the tank (I used the next size tank that doesn't fit in the cup). I bought the coffee press and it works great, a must for coffee freaks like me.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Great one person cooking machine. It is all you need to take on the trail.
However, don't put the Jetboil Jetpower fuel canisters inside unless it is completely dry which in the Northwest is almost never. The canister rusts and stains the inside of the cup.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I love the jetboil system. It works great! It heats liquids in no time at all. It is very fuel efficent.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I generally prefer liquid fuel stoves to canister stoves (because of the better cold weather performance and ability to see how much fuel is left), but I bought one of these for a big wall trip since it could be hung from the portaledge. Very useful indeed. However, the container is pretty small and I had to cook twice - once for my partner and then once for myself. We eat alot.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I bought this for an overnight backpacking trip. Due to some sightseeing and using a rather relaxed pace, I was the last into camp. However, using Jetboil, I was the first to eat. This stove just rocks. Boils water really fast. Since all I eat is instant oatmeal and just add water packs, this is the perfect stove. The stabilizer base is a must have. Cleaning is easy. I loves how everything fits nice and neat inside the cooking container.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This system is a dream to use. Simple and fast. Boils 2 cups in <1.5 min (<1000' elev.) Very versatile system. Very compact, can be stored in the same space or pouch as a 1L Nalgene bottle. Fuel cell seems to last well beyond stated estimates!!
Have not had any issues with the ignition system as others. TIP!!-Keep the cardboard tube that comes with the packaging to keep in place over the ignighter when packed & stowed, this will help protect the ignighter which I expect has been damaged in transit for other folks as the stove parts can shift around when stored inside the pot. If you transport the fuel cell inside the pot in transit be sure to put it in the bottom and the burner assembly in after. Shorten the cardboard tube accordingly and the ignighter will be protected and the parts held securely inside the pot for transport.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
It's hard to get moving from your sleeping bag while winter backpacking in the mountains. I know that coffee will get me up...and hot oatmeal. I fish around in the foot of my sleeping bag and pull out the familiar Jetboil cannister. I light up the stove and realize where the name comes from. It sounds sweeter than a skillet on a stove. I rub my eyes in the minute it takes for the water to boil. Today will be a great day!
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Jetboil is great for quick food and drink preparation. The only downside that we have found is that there is poor temperature control when you need to cook something on low (simmer). But it brings things to a boil extremely quickly and you can simply turn off the gas and cover the food to cook for a few minutes on "low". Small and compact as well.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Can't find a better stove for backpacking!!
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I love my Jetboil, I use it on backpacking trips and road trips all the time. It's very efficeient and it packs up into the cup, which is wonderful to cut down on bulk.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I like the way everything packs inside of stove.
The only complaint I have is with the piezo ignition. I have to light my stove with a match.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Use this alot camping and on the trail as well.
If Cold weather is not an issue than buy it adn you'll love it!
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
We used the Jet Boil on an 11 day, fairly high altitude (7,500' to 12,000'), backpacking trek. They worked flawlessly. We had 9 people and brought a total of 4 canisters of fuel for 2 stoves for 10 nights of boiling water for cooking and cleaning. I was a little worried we may run out of fuel, but we had fuel left over. To be clear we only used them for dinner and sparingly. (We only had coffee a few days)
This stove heated water very fast and at our altitude the water was pretty cold.
I highly recommend this stove; so much so that I gave my old one away.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
this stove boils water like no other. as long as you're cooking something with lots of water like soup its fine but don't try frying anything, unless you want to destroy your pot. perfect for long hiking trips with freeze-dried food.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This cooking system makes boiling water fast and easy. It assembles quickly and works well with the available coffee press (though can be hard to clean coffee grounds out of the cup). The only problem I found with the Jetboil system is that it is a bit unstable on uneven surfaces or in windy weather.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This stove is amazing. It is much easier to use than the traditional gas stoves. It is very reliable, safe and has never let me down. It boils water very quickly, uses very little fuel and concentrates heat where it is needed. I took this stove to Isle Royale for a 2 week camping trip and used 1 can of fuel. Best investment in camping gear yet.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is by far the best way to cook when you are out on your own. The unit packs up easily in a back pack, dry bag, or keep it in the car for emergencies to heat up water or an emergency meal. I love using the dehydrated foods, then there is less to clean up, but this stove is a workhorse for cooking as well. I originally bought several fuel canisters only to realize I've only used one in the last year and a half. I thought I'd go through those real fast, but this stove heats up so quickly to a boil that it is efficient too. [...] I haven't seen anything come close and work as well in hot/cold/high altitude, and more.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
If you own anything other than this stove, go to your pack now and throw it away! I just recently completed a trip into the Sierras with a group of guys who had MSR "Whisper Lites" and they spent more time tearing them apart and cleaning them trying to get them to stay lit. This was in little to no wind no less!
Meanwhile, I was pouring hot, boiling water into my bag of freeze dried chicken & rice less than 2 minutes after I poured the cold water into the pot.
From the way all components (including the fuel canister) fit into the pot for easy packing right down to the push button electronic ignition, this stove/personal cooking system is NICE!
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This compact stove really delivers as promised. The highly efficient design allows you to boil water in a very short time. The stove has it's own ignitor and requires no pumping or priming. The best part is that when it's all done, it all packs into the included cup/pot. The only complaint that I have about this stove is that the temperature control could be a little better, but it's is very powerful. I'm not sure how I got along without it!
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
love being able to boil water quickly, but i wish we could re-use the canisters.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
It boils water unbelievably fast. It would be perfect if the ignitor was designed better. My ignitor cracked after five or six uses, and a second one cracked after just two uses. The first time I discovered it was cracked after taking it out of storage, so I assumed it got knocked around somehow and broke. But the second time was in camp, after it had worked beautifully. It seems to crack just from the heat of use. I'd give it 5 stars if not for the ignitor issue. If you pack some matches, you'll be fine.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Borrowed this from a friend for a camping trip and it made me want my own. Was really easy to start and water was boiling before we were ready with the food packets even. The only thing is that it has a 2 cup maximum though it does seem like more water could fit but perhaps it is a safety thing. Also, the first couple of times, we were confused as to how best to pour the boiling hot water but realized we should just tilt the whole unit to do it.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
We hiked into our campsite at the same time as another group. We had our dinner cooked and were almost done eating ours by the time they had set their old stove up, found the fuel, primed it, and were able to boil water. What a difference it made to two starving parents and one grumpy kid! Thanks Jet Boil! The canister tripod takes care of any stability issues. Makes any rock "level."
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
If boiling water for dehydrated meals, coffee, and tea is what you will mainly be doing, Jetboil is the clear choice. If you want to make pancakes, you had better be a fast flipper or those suckers are gonna fry! The alternate stove attachement makes the thing very stable.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is a great stove. Its very efficient. Brings snow to boil in about 3 minutes. Very little heat escapes out the sides of stove and puts all the heat to the bottome of the canister. You won't believe it.I would have given it 5 stars but the ignighter quit on me already after one season. Still easy to light with lighter or match.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I have to say that I love nearly everything about this stove. Compact, light weight, boils real fast and is very easy to light. I have a Whisperlite and I don’t think I’ll ever use it again.
I’ve used this stove under a variety of conditions and it has never failed. Granted, I now only carry freeze dried meals and Raman on my hikes so this stove fits the bill perfectly. If you are a coffee drinker I’d recommend the optional French press. During my last deployment I used the stove and French press every morning and brewed coffee for myself and my team. It was the ONLY good part of the day.
On day hikes I’ll also take the stove with me and let my seven year old light and heat the water for our meal (under close supervision of course). It’s that easy to use!
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Space is a big issue in motorcycle touring and this is the best stove I've found. It works both in motel rooms and camping and works extremely well for coffee for two and quick meals for one. Canisters seem easy to find on the road.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The stove is second to none for me. I used to have a Whisper stove, but all the pain of dealing with gas and warm ups lead me to buying JetBoil. Now I use it for every outdoor outing I have. I even use it in the hotels/motels to heat up a cup of tea. Easy to light, easy to clean, compacts down to a cup size and easy to store.
Somehow I got rust spots on the inside of the cup and REI happily exchanged it for me. I recommended this stove to at least 5 of my friends.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I really like the way the fuel, stabilizer legs, and the stove all pack into the container. It stays protected in the pack and nothing gets lost. It lights with a click of the button and boils water very quickly, hence the name. Because the control is below the container, you do have to be careful not to get burned if it boils over. I've used it in Rocky Mountain National Park, Glacier National Park and some shorter trips. So far it's been great.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The Jetboil is very good at what it says it can do, boil water. It is great for the early morning cup of coffee or hot cocco. I have alerady gone throught two automatic lighters, both of which have stoped workiing. This is not that big of a deal, I just use a match or lighter to get it going now, not work buying new auto lighters over and over again. If I lost mine I would buy another.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This stove is great! I bought it when it first came out and now I have 3 with every accessory available. I have yet to replace any parts. It boils quick. Not as quick as the new replicas of Jetboil, but it uses less fuel for the same amount of water boiled. It is also lighter. If you are just eating freeze dried foods it can't be beat. The downfalls are when it boils over it's hard to get down to the heating knobs to turn it down without getting burned. It also is hard to simmer. Get a shield on windy conditions and when it's cold out, carry the fuel cells inside your jacket to keep them warm and your fuel will burn better. This stove is very light and compact and should be carried on any trip where you have to boil water and save weight.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Fantastic stove for quick boiling/cooking.
Worth EVERY penny I paid for it. I used it twice this summer and now have an extra packed away in an emergency survival kit.
The fuel canister lasts a lot longer than I had planned, since the heating of the mug is so efficient. 2 cups of water boiled in under 2 minutes.
Cleanup is a snap and the base is actually quite sturdy. (but, don't tempt fate)
The temp control is not as refined as I would have thought, but, still useful. (not perfect, but, satisfactory)
It packs away so easily, plan on one and some extra meals for your winter survival kit if you travel by car much.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is an awesome tool for boiling water! Its effecient, lightweight, small, and fast. For dehydrated meals like Mountain House, its the best!
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This is the fastest way to bring water to a boil. When my piezo cracked, the company immediately sent me a replacement part. The propane can will leave rust on the bottom, so I store it above the heater element.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Excellent stove. It's lightweight and very compact. Works great for hiking and camping. Storage and clean-up couldn't be easier.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I purchased this product on my way to a campsite. I was first shocked at the cost, but after looking at the product in store I saw the advantages. The entire stove fits into its own cup. The stove lives up to all of the hype.
The only problem that I have had so far is that the stove was a little unstable when boiling water. This can be solved with one of the accessory packs that clips onto the bottom to act as a stabilizer.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
The jetboil is one of our favorite purchases. I thought it seemed pricey at first but, it's definately worth it. The water boils so fast and the set up, lighting and clean up are so easy. It's so nice to prepare your drink separately from the food on the stove. I highly recommend this product.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
JetBoil is so easy to setup, and is the FASTEST stove for boiling water bar none. Easy to clean, and easy to pack away.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I am so glad I bought this stove. So easy to use. It boils water incredibly fast. Fuel canisters go a long way. If your in an area where you can't set it down, you can easily hold it in your hand and use it no prob. After I bought mine, I used it on some trips and so far 2 of my friends have purchased this same stove.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This stove is great- perfect for quick boiling water and snow. And the gas canisters seem to last forever! You can buy new igniters as that seems to be the one part that can wear out. I like the coffee press attachment too for car camping.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I bought my Jetboil PCS a few months after it was released and have used it on all my trips since then. It's a wonderful stove, but not particularly versatile. As long as I am boiling water it performs great. It boils fast and has AMAZING fuel efficiency. I once had a Jetboil cannister last for one 5-day trip and two 3-day trips.
My favorite use for the Jetboil, and the reason that I will never give it up, is breakfast. I love the ability to have tea and instant oatmeal ready in less than five minutes from when I wake up. Just boil two cups of water, add one cup two the oatmeal, drop a tea bag in the remainder and enjoy a beautiful morning in the wilderness. Life doesn't get much better than that.
It has a few downsides, though. Simmering, even to cook something as simple as pasta, can be a difficult endeavor. The control knob doesn't allow for a wide range of temperatures , so it boils over easily. The first time it did this, the cup was attached to the stove base so I was unable to lift it to stop it from boiling over and I couldn't reach the control to turn it off. The Jetboil cup is really hard to clean if anything gets caked on the bottom.
I would highly recommend the Jetboil PCS to anyone whose cooking consists primarily of boiling water. For those who do more than boil, I would recommend it in addition to the Jetboil GCS upgrade. Those two together make, in my opinion, a perfect backpacking cooking system.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I have this one for years and love it.
Till the point I had to buy my wife a second one, becasue she went on a seperate trip.
I had to modify the plastic cup so it would be easier to remove. But other than that, No repairs, NO PROBLEMS!
Just the ticket for freezer bag cooking. Boil water in a flash, and eat like a king.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This gets a 5 because there is no 20.
It's like someone watched me cook, and designed a stove to fit me. This stove works really well, boiling water quickly while using very little fuel (since I never carry a spare cylinder any more, it's actually lighter than my previous Snow Peak or MSR setups.) The windscreen actually works. The pot keeps food warm, and is easy to handle. Very little fiddle-factor in the setup or take-down.
The cup that protects the base of the pot also has markings that let it double as a measuring cup (thank you! thank you! thank you!), and it also holds a package of oatmeal - hot breakfast is now a reality without carrying extra gear.
Everything stores compactly and securely. Whoever did the design on this actually thought everything out (unlike the MSR Pocket Rocket/Titan kettle which lacks a quarter inch of storing the stove and fuel canister in the pot.)
My piezo is still working - but I carry a lighter just in case.
You definitely need to add the stove base (sold separately) to stabilize it, and the cargo cozy (replacement pot cozy that also includes a spoon and fork, and stows them securely on the cozy) is a must-have item.
If Colin Fletcher had seen this, he might have been tempted to replace his Svea. It's that good.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Due to the type of fuel used do not use this stove in cold winter months
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This was a great buy, it heats water quickly, it's light, easy to put together and make work, flame doesn't go out when it's windy. Great to use in conjunction with dried food that says "just add water".
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
just a great product if you need to go light. a great alpine stove. efficient, compact, and light. cant cook gourmet meals but who has the energy for that in the alpine environment anyways? absolutely great for what its designed to do: boil water (or melt snow for that matter) fast and efficiently in a lightweight stove.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
First off, what a great design that the stove, fuel cartridge, and accessories can all fit into it's cook pot. We used it at 11,000 feet in Colorado and it performed well, but I would advise keeping the fuel cartridges warm before use in temps below 40 degrees farenheit. I much prefer liquid fuel stoves for winter use. My piezo ignition developed a crack in the body after a couple of months and failed to ignite the stove, but fortunately I always carry matches as a backup. I called Jet boil and they were kind enough to send piezo ignition replacements at no charge. Since then, I have never had a problem with the piezo ignition, but do take matches or a lighter as backup. I would recommend buying the stove stabilizer and alternative pot support accessory for obvious reasons (it all still fits in the pot!). I use this stove on short days hikes and overnighters only but you could use it on longer trips with ease.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Very efficient at 0.09oz of fuel per 8oz of water from 50F to boil. A light canister stove and titanium pot is overall lighter for extended weekend trips, but there is something to be said for convenience and the cozy substitutes as an insulated mug.
Improvements would be to make it lighter by fabricating their own burner instead of what appears to be a primus head, and titanium pot.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Great stove! If your just going to boil water for freeze dried, oatmeal, coffee or tea this is the unit.
You will want to keep a lighter handy though as the piezo will fail before long.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I love my Jet Boil. It works perfectly for what I need it to. I tend to use the freeze dried dinners and this thing boils water in a flash! I had boiled water and was eating by the time other members of my party have been getting thier various other non canister stoves to light. Matter of fact some even bought a jet boil after seeing it. It is a bit bulky but for me it is my stove and bowl all in one. I don't need to bring another bowl or plate. I have used it just above freezing with great results. Other have complained about the stability but it does not bother me. This is not the stove you want if you are going to simmer something. Overall if you are looking for a reasonablly priced, lower weight stove to boil water you cannot go wrong.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I have used many stoves over the years, from my dad's old Sigg to white gas stoves, to the modern canister stoves. This one by far surpasses any of them, in simplicity, ease of use, and use of space. It doesn't do a wide variety of cooking styles, but it has boiling down to a science. The speed and fuel economy are it's greatest points.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I spent a week with a Jetboil brought for our Desolation trip by a tentmate. I was doubtful on this peculiar setup, especially on fuel use. We used one can of fuel for a week of hot food and drinks. I didn't believe it! I kept shaking the cannister to check the level. The stove was easy to light, all the time. I didn't believe that would work either. I wrongly thought the plastic lid and plastic (?) pot cover would melt or fail. Wrong on the that count as well. It cleaned easy enough and the extra legs stabilized the setup. Our food was done quickly and easily all week. My stove stayed packed. This is our stove choice for the Muir Trail trip being planned and I don't see anything better out there. I recently sold a liquid fuel stove just to "justify" getting a Jetboil for me. The only improvement would be a self cleaning unit.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Great stove but first I must mention that the peizo sucks. I broke one when I was playing around figuring out why it will not light the stove. Had a new piezo igniter sent by the manufactore and I trimmed the tip to a sharp point. Now it lights in all temperature conditions. Don't know why the manufacture simply didn't do this. I love the fact that you do not burn your hand when holding it due to the sleeve. I have worried that the pot will tip over but that has yet to be the case. The one caveat is that you will need a long spoon to eat your food out of it.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I love the base JetBoil unit. It boils water in almost no time, it's light, and it seems to always just work.
If you're looking to boil water quickly, you won't find anything better than the JetBoil.
Its height can make it sometimes frighteningly unstable, but I haven't had mine fall over on me yet. JetBoil should consider including the stabilizer that comes with the pot support system in the base unit.
The only other downside I've experienced with this product is that it's concentrated heat doesn't work well for non-JetBoil pans. If you want to expand its capabilities to cooking more varied dishes for larger groups, you're forced into buying the very expensive pot and pan sets from JetBoil. If you intend to go this direction, your wallet might happier with another cooking system.
As with any canister stove, you can get away with cheap fuel at low elevations in warm weather, but be sure you buy the more expensive adequately pressurized verities for colder temperatures and higher altitudes. The beauty of the JetBoil is that with its specialized cup, it's so efficient that you'll use very little fuel.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
It was great to boil water for coffee on our backpacking trip. It was great all around.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
After seeing what a nice job this did for my friend on our backpack through the North Cascades, I decided to abandon my MSR pots and stove to get a JetBoil. It's compact light and does it all. Well worth the additional expense for weight and space savings and the quick boils. Awesome.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
best cooking stove I've use, have had 3 others but this is the best
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I used this for the first time on an overnight. A friend of mine had purchased one and highly recommended it, so I gave it a shot. The first thing that caught my eye is the amount of pack space this takes up. Because everything fits into the cooking cup, it is very efficient volume wise. When we got to camp, I screwed the gas on, turned the fuel knob to full, and lit it up. Worked first time. It is very audible, which I wasn't really expecting, but it didn't bother me. After getting the club locked on, which took a tiny bit of finagling, I filled it with water and started to cook. One thing you have to watch out for is that it will boil over if you don't turn it down once you get it ignited. This happened to me. After we got done eating, the cup was easy to clean up, but make sure you dry it out well or else the fuel canister will rust when you put it back in the cup.
All in all it was a great experience using the JetBoil PCS and I would highly recommend it.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I used the Wisperlite International for many years but switched to the Jetboil two years ago. A cooking system does not get any simpler nor lighter than the Jetboil: one cup, one burner, and one can of gas. All you need is a spoon. I use it for multiday backpacking, mountaineering, daily hikes. Nothing like a warm cup of noodles while resting next to a frozen lake during a winter snowshoeing hike. I do find it difficult to light, using the piezo igniter, when a non-Jetboil brand of gas is used and when the can is cold. The cup to burner connection is a bit sticky but can be easily adjusted to perfection. The plastic cup was hard to remove in the older version but the correct fixes were done on the new one. The (expensive) coffee press is a must if you cannot get up in the morning without a good cup of Joe. Once you go Jet, you never go back!
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I love my jetboil. I use it to make my coffee first, then boil my water for oatmeal. Breakfast in less than 5 minutes - at home or on the trail. I have not found anything I don't like about it yet. The cannister is travel friendly on flights to. A must have for a outdoorsmen or indoorsmen.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Wow, what to say about this stove. Well, I've had mine since the very first year they came out, and it's still going strong.
There have been a lot of changes over the years - the top cover has gotten more flexible, the piezo igniter seems to have gotten more fiddly, and a few other things. But mostly, this classic has stayed a classic.
Things I love it for include cooking freeze-dry-fare, desert camping (no liquid fuel to clog with sand), long trips (for fuel efficiency), and every-day use. I throw it in my bag during day trips while skiing just in case I want to make tea.
I love the fact that you can pick up the whole thing and move it while it's cooking. Nothing any other stove has offered me has revolutionized how and when I cook more than that one aspect.
I also love the fact that its so fuel efficient. I always bring too much fuel. The stove is downright miserly, and that's great.
However, in adverse conditions (wind, cold) the stove doesn't do too well. If you're melting snow for a group, forget about it. You'll never eat. You'll be cooking up to 12 minutes for the half liter of melted water. And when windy, sometimes my stove never boils.
But, since I can move the stove once it's lit, and it doesn't use up much fuel when it's on, I can experiment to find different locations for it to work, even if that means holding it in my hands and shielding it from the wind with my body.
How fast is it? Pretty fast. I've rarely seen a true 90 second boil time, but then again, I rarely cook in ideal conditions. It's faster than most stoves though, so that's something. Plus, it all packs up into a nice little package.

Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
Ignition failed 1st hike in Ushuaia, during very cold rain. I needed the hot liquid, luckily I had backup lighter. I think the ignition had mild condensation, and cracked the ceramic insulator, causing arcing and ignition failure. This was a terrible place to have such a critical item fail! Great item for typical Colorado posers (Weekend Warriors), but not for those who take off several months to hike, unless you carry a spare. As a lightweight hiker, I hate to carry so much additional nonsense.
Comments about Jetboil Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
This stove is great for any bear country camp areas. You can easily keep a clean camp with this since you only really boil water to add to dehydrated food or make a hot beverage. No dishes, no food smell and easy clean-up. Dehydrated food has come along way and this stove is excellent for people who don't want to prepare and cook meals. It also makes for a quick and hearty meal during a long day hike.

This is the most amazing compact stove that I have ever used. This stove really boils water at Jet-Speed. I have timed this out in the field on several occaisions and each time it boiled water in just about 60 seconds (1 cup). This is a very good stove for someone who is just going to be doing low to moderate altitude camping due to the butain canister. I packs up nicely and doesn't take up much space in the pack.
The only cons are that I don't think that it would be very good at high altitude and it is a little tall when set up and is a little top heavy when your cooking with it. I might buy the stabilizer accessory but you can get do with out it as long as you are careful.

I got to use this guy for the first time on a four day backpacking trip recently, and it worked great. Always carry backup matches, of course, as any piezo can be less than 100% perfectly reliable, but it heated quickly, was simple to clean, simple to pack, and the right size for two pepole. Even after three days of breakfasts and dinners, we've got a good amount of fuel left over.
It can get a little sticky to unhook from the base after cooking, and boil times are a bit longer than cited on the box, but it certainly was convenient, especially for the handful-of-times-a-year backpacker who doesn't want to fuss with the slightly more complicated gear.
