Broken Dual Adjust Waist Band Buckles
I used one of the Gear Aid 2 in. buckles as a replacement for a REI day pack waist strap buckle that broke after 25+ years of use. The Gear Aid replacement broke after 3 hikes. The tines on the Gear Aid buckle are very thin and do not appear to be capable of withstanding the mechanical strains associated with cinching a pack waist band. Stronger and heavier buckles like the original ITW Nexus - Fastex North America ones are needed for day pack waist strap applications. In addition, the current buckles on the website of U.S. manufacturer ITW Nexus (Classic SR 101-0200) appeared to be heavier built than the Chinese Gear Aid replacements. I would recommend finding a better source for replacement buckles than Gear Aid such ITW Nexus or the SGH Pro Extra Strength (military grade) series.
I can now use the chest strap on my JanSport!
Perfect replacement to lost buckle set on my old JanSport back pack from the 80's.
The buckle of tomorrow today
Wow, this buckle does it all! It holds my hip belt together and then releases when I push on buttons that make it release. A true modern marvel. What will they think of next?
Easy perfect replacement
The replacement buckle is perfect and easy to attach. BTW, the buckle measurement = the width of the strap, which I wasn't totally sure about until I received the buckle. I slammed a car door on my backpack's hip belt buckle a couple of years ago. It's a good pack, but was thinking I'd just replace the whole pack since tying the hip belt wasn't a great solution.
DIsappointed
Fit well, but broke Day 1 (mile 3) in a backpacking trip. Unacceptable, really.
REI came through!
I had a barely used back pack from another major outdoor retailer which became unusable due to a broken waist strap buckle. That store does not sell replacement buckles. I ordered this one, (the buckles come in standard sizes), and it fit perfectly and my back pack is like new!
Backpack replacement part
Recently bought a backpack for a trip overseas from REI I had always heard great things about the customer service I had an issue almost immediately with a backpack with buckle came off completely and was lost but Backpack still functional and used it through the trip called REI and they immediately sent out a replacement part with an apology at no charge they were amazing customer service friendly and helpful there everything that they reported to be The backpack was amazing completely waterproof performed great and now with its belly band buckle it's awesome
Replaced missing waistbelt buckle on backpack
I bought this to replace the missing buckle for my waist belt on my backpack. It works fine and it might as well be the original buckle. I'm glad they be able to use the waist belt with my backpack now.
Broke at mile 12
First hike....the buckle broke after 12 miles of backpacking with a 45 lb pack.
Fixed
Bought this item to repair my pack. Easy to install.
