by fromMeh. I purchased this jacket recently, and after one wearing, I am returning it. First, the pros: QUICK, free shipping - I ordered this on a Wednesday afternoon, received it on Monday morning. Removable hood Accurate fit - I am usually an XS (5'4", 115#) and this jacket fit perfectly It appears to be waterproof or at least water-resistant, as claimed It's not loud (that crinkly kind of loud) like some rain jackets are - probably because the fabric is a looser polyester Now, for the cons: The quality is lacking - from the moment I pulled this out of the bag, I felt that it was more like the type of quality you get from the North Face outlet - not horrible, just a little 'off'. After one wearing, I noticed that one of the snap buttons on the front had detached itself from the fabric - which just confirmed for me that this jacket is NOT worth the price. I don't know if something has changed between the 2013 model and the 2014 model, but unless you are getting this at a discount and/or using a gift card (both of which I used), it is just not worth the price. The tag indicated that this jacket is 'breathable'. With a full nylon lining in addition to the outer polyester (HyVent?) shell, this just felt like a little sauna when I had it zipped up and was walking around, so I'm skeptical about the breathability of this particular jacket. The jacket is pretty sparse as far as details go - this might be a 'pro' for you, but at this price I expect more pockets, at the very least. It's kind of a boring jacket, to be honest. The belt is nice (and is in fact one of the reasons I purchased this jacket), but it does not 'cinch' and stay - in other words, the fabric is so slick that you cinch the belt and it immediately loosens unless you also tuck the long end of the belt back into the waistband and pull it tight. At this price, there should be a belt that actually BUCKLES. In short, this is just not the quality that I expect from the North Face - at half the cost this might be a decent jacket, but only if the snaps stayed in place longer than one day! I wouldn't recommend purchasing - at the very least, see it in a store before making a decision.
