Soleus GPS Draft Bike Computer - 2013 Overstock is rated 2.75 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wasted opportunity I bought this GPS half off some time ago. I was surprised by it being so deeply discounted being such a recent launch. After a couple of weeks using it I can see why. They propose a simple, no gimmick, product. The problem is that the user interface simply makes no sense. First, you have to active the GPS on every mode you use it. For instance, if you hold a button for a couple of seconds, it reads "GPS ON" but then you go to Bike mode and it blinks "Indoor", so you have to turn it on again (and every time you go to bike mode). As an occasional rider, I just want to know my speed and how much I rode. I assumed it would start measuring both automatically and pause when I stop. It doesn't. You have to go to the Chrono mode, start the chronograph, then go back to Bike mode and start the GPS again. Given that the GPS seems to turn itself off so often, I assumed that I didn't need to do anything once I was done riding my bike. Wrong again. The battery completely depleted in about 24 hours. I searched a forum and they said I had to hold the button that turns the GPS on/off for a couple of seconds so it turns itself off. By doing this, now it lasts many days in stand by mode. And also the manual is almost useless. How could they make something they claim to be simple so complicated? They have the chance to solve these issues, and improve the unit, with firmware updates. I asked them and they said they will. I hope it happens.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from hard to use Counterintuitive, seemingly random operation. Awful, nearly impenetrable instruction manual.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple to use, Works great It's inexpensive and works. No wires to worry about and easily transfers from bike to bike, just need to buy mounts. I like the optional Bar Fly mount from Tate Labs. The only concern is accuracy; during a recent 50+ mile ride, I think it was .2 miles different from Strava and the top speed was off by .4 mph. But it's so light and affordable, it's GPS for the masses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No issus Got this and was skeptical based on some of the reviews. After getting it and setting it up (for those that have problems understanding manuals this might be a problem), I was ready to go. First trip out did not start the GPS, and when I got back there was of course no data. The Barfly mount arrived the day after the GPS. Once I was able to mount it, and properly see the screen I was able to tell when the GPS had synced. As mentioned elsewhere, it does take a bit to get the GPS fix, but once it does, it was no problem starting, stopping and saving my data to upload. The software has to be downloaded, which is a cost saver, but as 3.5" mini cd's are stupid cheap they could have tossed one in. Overall, I am very satisfied with the device, the way it syncs to Strava, and overall ease of use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than I expected Ordered this and was skeptical at first based on other reviews. Once I got it and the bar mount, I followed the directions, and had my user data setup, then mounted up and went for a ride. Took my Android and used the Strava app for it to compare, and they were close based on how long each was open while riding.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not easy to use I was skeptical due to buy due to some comments but finding a lightweight compact gps unit for the stem was too tempting. It comes with a mostly useless set of instructions. When you search for comments/user experiences there just aren't any. I manged to find the full manual on the manufacturer website but even with detailed instructions I couldn't get it set right. It may just be me as some have had success but after much frustration I finally returned this product. Disappointed b/c I really wanted to use it for touring.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Difficult to use based on the price I thought this would be a great entry level GPS unit for my bike but its been so difficult to figure out how to use it that I'm not sure I'll ever be satisfied. There is absolutely nothing intuitive about the interface, and the "detailed" instructions, which I had to download from the internet, are poorly written and difficult to follow. I'll keep trying and maybe I'll figure it out sooner or later, but its already taken more time than it should have.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disapointed Sorry I bought it regardless of the discount. Tired of trying to get help from Soleus on why STRAVA linking is so difficult even though Soleus advertises that it works with STRAVA. I'd only recommend this product to someone I wanted to play a gag on..... or someone I don't like.
