Rated 5 out of 5 by from runner for 30 yrs..best shoes ever! My feet hurt to run because of heel spur and bunion. Someone suggested I try these shoes, and I am so happy I did. I love them! they have so much cushioning. My feet feel happy when i run. I've tried them all, but these are by far my fave!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from smooth ride Took the Hoka Stinson Evos out on the trails at Cougar Mountain for my first run in them - about 14 miles. It's true what they say...you can bomb downhill in these! I usually run downhill like a monkey studiously eating bugs out of its mate's fur, picking my way thoughtfully as I go. But in the Hokas I can run downhill more like Katniss eating her first rabbit stew dinner in the Hunger Games, ravenously tearing up the trail :-) My feet and knees gave no indication that I'd just run 14 miles on trail. I didn't roll my ankle any more or less that I usually do on trail. You still have to be careful of big rocks and roots of course, but I truly didn't feel the usual pangs from rocks underfoot and I felt really confident landing - even with the trails completely blanketed in fall foliage. I can't say whether the cushioning caused more leg fatigue going uphill - that is yet to be determined and I'll try to remember to come back and update. Background info: I typically run in Newtons on the road and inov8s on the trail - both are great - but the ultra distances really wear on my feet! And I thought these would be fun to try. I thought the Hoka Kailua sounded more like what I wanted - cushioned, low profile, more nimble - but they didn't feel like what I wanted when I got them on - awkward ankle fit and too narrow in the toe box. These Stinsons are wider and heavier - but today I loved them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I thought they could be... I have been struggling with plantar fasciitis for the last year. These shoes were bought in desperation, but boy, are they helping. I've doubled my mileage in the month I've had these and am starting to feel as comfortable on uneven terrain (trail running) as I did in my old trail runners. I use orthotics and normally have to order a 9 to accommodate them. In these, the 9's were too big so I think they run half size too big. The first time I put these on I felt like I had club feet walking on marshmallows. It was really odd feeling, but nice for my damaged foot. As others have mentioned the toe box has plenty of room. I found once I got the size right, I was able to dial the fit in perfect with the speed laces (although I was extremely skeptical and expected to replace them immediately). These are a godsend for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like powder-skis! I was extremely reluctant to buy the Hokas -- who really needs them? I like the feel of the trail underfoot! I'll fall off of them! They make me look like Mickey Mouse! Yep, all my friends are just pointing and saying, "told you so." They are a great shoe. First day out I ran 9 miles in them and loved every minute. Never thought a shoe could be "fun" but these are fun. Especially on the downhills -- they definitely feel like powder skis!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Extremely wide toe box. Normally I need to buy an extra wide shoe but these fit my bunions. Amazingly, friends with normal width feet also find the fit to be fine. I was suspicious to try the Hokas, thinking I'd not have sufficient trail feel and wobble around but they are stable and feel good on the trail. This is the first shoe I've been able to use in years without custom orthotics. They are sufficiently cushioned and yet stable to make up for the metatarsal support normally only offered by my orthotics. An odd looking shoe that is very expensive and won't even look "normal" enough for casual wear once retired from running, but even so well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe Since wearing this shoe my knee pain has disappeared. I was so skeptical that a shoe would make so much difference. I was ready to give up running due to knee pain and thought I'd try one more time to get a shoe that would help. It takes my orthotic easily and with this shoe I now have a completely neutral foot strike and no knee pain. I went from thinking I would give up running to running 35 miles a week with no knee pain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Amazing I could not have finished the 26 mile grand traverse trail run without these amazing shoes. I was the only one in my group without blisters or sore feet and toes. I had never trail run before, and it was simply amazing....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Good Shoe I have had my Hoka One One Stinson for three months. This is what I did to insure a good outcome. 1) If you have not had your foot measured recently and know precisely what size you wear, check the size of your most comfortable athletic or hiking shoe. I used my hiking shoe. Then order the Stinson using the EUR size on your shoe. The UK size may work but I found that the EUR is probably more correct. Do not order the US size as it is the least reliable at this time. This shoe currently does not come in wide. My husband wears a EEE size and this shoe simply was not for him. I wear a M or B so, I am perfectly happy. 2) Pay attention to Lacing. The shoe does come with a lacing system that requires some patience to master. The manufacturer provides a set of laces that are commonly used so that you can simply change laces. I find that I can customize my athletic shoes using the same strategy that I use for customizing my hiking shoes. Videos with recommendations for lacing hiking shoes can be found on the REI site. I used several of their recommendations to lace my Hoka One One and of course, my hiking shoes. You want to lace these shoes well and have a snug fit because when they fit comfortably on your foot they really improve your walking. Snug means that you do not want your heels to slide up and down in the shoe. 3) These shoes are light on my feet. I find that they help my posture and my stride is more efficient. My 18 minute mile is now a 16 minute mile. At the end of a five-mile walk, my walking muscles are not sore and my calves and achilles tendons stretch easily. I really like this shoe.
