Comments about Kelty Avocet 30 Pack - 2012 Closeout:
Mainly wanted to write a review so others would have some information that I didn't have when I bought the item.
If you are looking for a simple top loading backpack this is as basic as it gets. Perfect size for a travel carry on or day hike pack (I think the dimensions are a little off in the specs). Pack straps are sufficiently padded. Hip belt is just some webbing and sits too high on me so I think its best for stabilizing a load, not transferring any load to your hips. There is only one external pocket which is your standard lid pocket in a top loading pack. It does have a key ring clip to help you keep track of your keys in that lid pocket. There are no external mesh pockets which I typically use for water bottles but there is an internal sleeve for a hydration bladder. the advantage of this pack is that it is one large opening so you can fit bulky items in it better than a panel loading pack. I plan on using this for travel, day hikes, and day trips around the city where I want to carry bulky items like warm layers.
