    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Timbuk2 Hunchback Rack Trunk is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good, could use a few improvments This is a very nice rack trunk - easy to use and durable. My one complaint is the use of velcro to close the bag and to strap the bag on the bike. I feel like these features will be the first to wear out and could be better designed. I also find the tabs to attach the bag a bit annoying as it is difficult to line up the two strips of velcro between my fender and bike rack. There isn't a lot of room to line the straps up and I can't see what I'm doing! Other than that, very easy to use bag! I like how the whole top opens up, making it very easy to find things within the bag. It fits well on the back of my bike and meets all expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mom bag! :) So far I'm loving this bag (although I wish I'd known beforehand that it comes in red, too)! It's great for certain types of people (e.g. parents on the go in the neighborhood, whose kids throw all their stuff at your when you go to meet them at the school, or people riding primarily for exercise as opposed to commuting and stopping constantly to lock up the bike in sketchy neighborhoods). It may not be ideal for someone who wants to take the bag on and off several times on a daily basis because the strong velcro that straps it tightly in place from underneath isn't a super fast process (fast enough though). But if you plan on keeping it on there more often than not, kind of like those crates, only offering advantages over the crates, it's near perfect. It wouldn't be easy for a thief to bend down and remove the velcro straps underneath the rack. Possible though - especially if left in a remote area for a long time and even more so if you left it filled with things obviously! When I do small grocery trips I'm going to just stick the paper bag down in there since I use those bags to store my recycling anyway. I have two of the bright yellow waterproof Ortleib Backroller Classic panniers and I like that they come on and off easily but there's a loose clickety feeling that annoys me and they stick so far out on the sides. Good for grab and go situations though (and they'll work with the Hunchback if I need them to since they hang off the sides). I used to use a front basket but I recently felt I wanted to free up that space so I went in search of something to put on the rear rack - something that won't hang off the sides but will still hold quite a bit without looking huge when it doesn't have to. I thought I'd end up with one of those cool, streamlined "trunks" but they all seemed too small for some purposes. Then I found the waterproof Topeak MTX version that sits on top of the rear rack (similar to the Hunchback) but it was narrower than the Hunchback. I loved how shiny looking the MTX was but I didn't love that it forces you to buy their rear rack after which would be another $30.00. Even if money weren't an issue, I don't like companies that do that. There's no denying the convenience of sliding it on and off, but I tested it in the store on a rack and it seemed it might rattle a bit which is annoying to me since my bike's bouncy. I also just like a very tight, quiet ride, if that makes sense. I also considered the trunks that have side pockets that unfold into panniers but there was just something so simple, roomy and unpretentious about the style of the Hunchback. It also folds down tightly and straps shut with clips (not just velcro). It's sturdy and while not technically waterproof, it looks as if it would last quite a while in rain (plus the interior is made of a strong insulating material that isn't likely to let in water). If I were commuting in rain regularly and had something very important to protect, I might consider something that's truly waterproof but it would probably be a different kind of bag altogether, e.g. one for the office.
