I bought them by mail and have to send them back because they are too big. Too bad, because they seem really well made.
They measure at least 2 inches bigger in the waist than the stated waist size. This is all too common now, but not universal.
My suggestion to REI: insist that suppliers inform you of the size equivalence (i.e., "size 36 waist for brand X euals waist size 38 inches") or just measure a couple of samples in evey batch... and inform us of the result!
