When I opened the box, these looked like works of art. Upon close inspection, the extreme quality of materials and workmanship are evident. I have been hiking and backpacking for over 30 years and have not seen or experienced a boot of such high quality and performance. Fit, of course, is personal. My partner and I have VERY different feet and these fit us both like a glove with no modification. No other shoe or boot has ever worked for us both without modification. The toe box is slightly larger than most other boots, and this has proven to be both comfortable and performs well. My partner usually has to order women's wide, but this was not required with the Mauria. I do not typically wear wide shoes or boots, and these work perfectly for me, too. Out of the box, the boot flexes easily and also provides comfortable, firm, and stable ankle support. One could wear these out of the box on a rigorous day hike with no problem, in my opinion, though I am breaking mine in. These boots deserve respect. Out on the trail (or off the trail), the traction and lateral performance is ideal. This is the best boot I have ever worn. They are like wearing a slice of heaven. They are expensive, and we compared them to EVERY boot in this price range. We took our time with them all. No other boot came close. If you are shopping in this price range, these boots should be on the "must try them" list. If you are not shopping in this price range, these boots should be on the "must try them" list.
