          These shorts are great if you are slim person. I'm 5-11 and weigh 150lbs so they fit me pretty good. A little on the snug side, but the material stretches a bit, so they are really comfortable for me. I like the length as they are just below the knee. I always have trouble finding long enough shorts.
          I wouldn't recommend these shorts are long rides, but short 10-15 mile rides, these have been pretty good. The padding included on them is nothing compared to your higher end shorts like Dakine or Pearl Izumi, but for commuting or short rides, it's enough.
          Only grip is the pockets. They are very shallow. Would be cautious putting an iphone in the pocket on a ride.

          Background: I own a lot of different shorts from Fox, Pearl, Dakine, Zoic, The North Face and Royal Racing.

            Padding completely inadequate and almost an afterthought. The short itself is fine, yet as far as a cycling short it is no better than a hiking short. I'm returning my pair.

            Got kudos from friends/family re: the stylish plaid. These wear/feel like regular casual shorts... no waddling around avoiding the pad. So as weekend bike trip wear - perfect. Front pockets are a bit small, but rear pockets are large. Belt loop in back designed to hold U-lock actually works. Coolest feature - single reflectorized threads are invisible in daylight, but glow when lit after dusk.

                  Tried them on in the store and you can see the stiching around the pad on your rump. Granted nobody should be looking down there but looks like you sewed a Maxi pad down there. Went with the ZOIC Grove instead. REI had a ood idea but final priduct fell short.

                  Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
