The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Igneo Long Shorts - Men's:
I purchased primarily for recumbent cycling for sun protection of top of thighs and knees. The length is perfect for this as pant legs reach to middle of my knees. Material is smooth and doesn't chafe. The cargo pocket location on top of thighs also works well for this use. A lighter color choice would rate a fifth star because dark fabric is hot in the sun.

Comments about REI Igneo Long Shorts - Men's:
I love the color, the way these fit, and the two zipped front/side pockets. It's nice to find a longer pair of shorts - the inseam is around 14" - in a sea of shorts that are simply way too short.
I like mine to fit below the knee and these fit the bill. They're also water-resistant and stain-repelling.
My biggest pet peeves are:
1) There's only one back pocket on the right side. I always find that awkward and think they should have put pockets on both sides.
2) They need more colors. I'd buy more if they offered more than one colourway.
Can't have it all, I guess! If you're looking for a nice, longer pair of shorts that can hang with all the fancy brands, these are the ones you want. Not baggy and just the right length.
Now, can we get more colors (and maybe the missing back pocket), please? :)

Comments about REI Igneo Long Shorts - Men's:
I wear these when its too hot for my Prana Zion pants. They are long so they cover a lot of the knee. The spandex in the material makes them stretch. This is a huge plus for climbing. The nylon makes them breathable too. I will definitely use them for hiking as well.
The pockets are a little unique. Instead of having two large cargo pockets on the side, these shorts have two smaller pockets on the front of the leg. I personally like the placement.
Overall a great pair of shorts if you're looking for something to climb or hike in when its getting warm.

Comments about REI Igneo Long Shorts - Men's:
Nice looking pair of shorts. Comfortable stretch material, nice color.
The hand pockets don't seem to lay flat, needs a slight re design. Add some pull tabs to the zip pockets to access them easier. Easily snags, may not be tough enough for hiking, bouldering, et cetera, but it may fall back into place after a wash, will see soon.
Other than that, they are a nice short. Good length just below the knee. Slight water repellency.
A little revision to the base model, and more colors, keep the price just below the competition, and you have a winner!
As is, I wouldn't buy again unless on sale, or until those revisions are made and a few color options made available.

Does run a bit large, but overall very comfortable. Would purchase this short in additional colors if/when available.

Comments about REI Igneo Long Shorts - Men's:
Day 1 of these shorts I put them through their paces - 15 mile bike ride, 5 mile hike, helped a buddy move some furniture and then topped it off with a grill out in the evening. I haven't been so comfortable in shorts in a long time, and I wear them almost exclusively during the summer.
They were perfect on the bike ride, wicking moisture away and leaving me feeling comfy and ready for some immediate hiking. They were great for moving the furniture - I really liked the stretchy material, it definitely helps a lot to have that flexibility when loading couches up and down into truck beds. Finally, I felt like a champ at the cookout cause I didn't stink or look half bad. They might be a little pricy and have only one color, but if they're ever on sale or release more colors I'd definitely hop on and get another pair. Perfect shorts for all summer adventures!

Comments about REI Igneo Long Shorts - Men's:
I commute on my bike daily to an office with an Austin-casual dress code, which is to say that shorts are pretty common. My usual riding gear consists of loose and super-breathable workout shirts and shorts, which are a bit too casual even for our easygoing cube farm. Enter the Igneo Long Shorts: sharp-looking, super-comfortable, knee-obscuring, and breeze-permeable. They're a definite upgrade over the cheap and bulky cotton cargo shorts which have been my go-to bottom for years. Where the cotton cargos have a tendency to soak up sweat and allow it to linger (hence my preference for synthetic workout shorts for the commute), these leave me dry and comfy, able to march from my bike straight to my desk when combined with a Sahara Tech shirt.
A note on fit: they run big, which I appreciate. My waist measures about 46" around, but the 42" waist size fits comfortably without stretching too much to encircle my girth.
A note on value: these fine shorts do come a bit dearly (I snapped them up using a generous coupon and some dividend cash), but if they were made in more colors, I'd certainly consider invensing in several more pairs.
