Easily swallows my 17 inch laptop, and has protected it admirably though long trips, bike rides, and varied weather conditions. As an added bonus, when this pack is loaded with a 6lb laptop, a change or 2 of clothes, power adapter, computer junk, books, and energy bars, it's heavy like bricks but comfortable once I heave it on my back. A small caveat is the built in biner hook is somewhat small, but I love this pack
