I wore them for a two week long rafting and canoe trip. I wore them everyday on the water except they didn't fit into the kayak. They were only comfortable when I wore socks, I just used thin silk liners so that the shoe didn't rub sores into my foot. And the sand can still get into these which makes it more uncomfortable. I wore them because they were more secure than saddles and have good grip.
Some of the stitching started coming apart after about a week but it didn't get worse and no hole actually formed, so I decided not to return them unless I found a way better product. Then, just using them around the house and yard since they are easy to slip on/off, the lace pull string system broke on one of the shoes. I seem to be unable to fix it and now see other parts of the lace that looks to be wearing out. Now I will return them and try something with finer mesh and hopefully mo durable.

I've used these about 10 times for kayaking including short walks to the water. I use them with my orthotics, which fit well. Water drains very well, which is a major plus for boating. They also have excellent traction on sand, mud, and rocky water edges. They dry quickly as well. They do let in small rocks, I think mainly because of the open construction of the step down heel. I prefer my hiking shoes for hiking.

These shoes fit great, but I bought them to keep rocks and coarse sand out of my shoes while kayaking. They keep rocks out but the mesh is too large and coarse grains of sand get into the shoe. This is basically the same problem I had with Keen sandals except with them I'd get rocks in my shoes.
