Comments about Mountain Hardwear Freeride Shell Bib Pants - Men's:
I had been wanting a pair of bibs after skiing deep powder and ending up with a wet mid layer so I ordered these from REI with high hopes. Most all of my Mountain Hardwear™ equipment has served me well and I was looking forward to another high quality product. Unfortunately when I tried them on I found the fit to be completely wrong. The pant legs are very wide and loose fitting, and yet the chest is so incredibly small I was barely able to zip and snap it closed. When I did so I could not take in a deep breath without the fabric constricting the movement. In my mind the body type for this pair of bibs is a bodybuilder who only works his legs. For an appropriate fit you need to have a tiny ribcage. I am 5' 10" and 175 pounds. I don't consider myself to have a barrel chest but according to Mountain Hardwear™ I apparently do.
Everything about these bibs looked perfect. I have little doubt they would have served me for years if they had fit. My wish is they would have put some elastic on the top to help it fit more people. I ended up returning them and purchasing a pair made by Arcteryx™.
