I was very impressed with these. I've been an avid barefoot runner for years, but trail running presented problems for my bare feet. These are the best Vibram Fivefingers I have used for trails and hiking in general. The traction is unparalleled. The built in rock plate has saved me from bruises on many occasions. I won't wear anything else if there is mud or loose terrain. Vibram out did themselves with these.

These are great!
However I have learned from running the Sandia mountain trails here in Albuquerque, if you don't wash them "very frequently" the dirt and sweat mix from trail running will make the fabric in between the toes stiff and will consequently wear and tear making a hole.
Other than that these are the best trail running shoes I have ever come across.

Im an avid runner whos been using the VFF shoes for nearly two years and most of my miles have usually been on streets, sidewalks and generally smooth paved areas. Recently my co-workers have been suggesting that we take part in the various trails in the local area just to expand our scenery. Of course the selected trails all seem to be covered with the biggest stones that NOVA has to offer (slight embellishment). My Bikila's or KSO's arent cutting it to say the least so back to R.E.I I go in order to protect the feet. The helpful sales representative was extremely patient and knew just what I needed. The Spyridon's gave me the necessary cushion i needed over rough terrain to comfortably allow me to do what I do.
Great investment and a definite must have if rocky terrain is in your forecast.

Love them, takes a few weeks getting used to them but after that I never want to take them off. Were great for a recent float trip. I use them for my scooter shoes as well (49cc Scooter). Also, nice for hiking or trail walking/running.

I just walk in my Foot Gloves. I wear a 47, and found them to tight across the top of the foot and I hated the strapping system. I decided to cut the strap off, and they now feel like my foot is in a glove they fit perfectly. Truly the most comfortable sports shoes I've ever worn. Just bought a second pair.

I already own a pair of KSOs, Treks, and TrekSports and have been barefoot running on rugged trails for over 1 1/2 years in my FiveFingers. Unfortunately, the TrekSports don't quite give me enough protection on really rock trails when I'm running long distances. The Spyridon was built specifically for trail running, so I couldn't wait to try it out. I did a 4 mile trail run on mixed terrain this morning and love them already! They feel better on the rocky parts of the trail, yet still feel very light and flexible. I can't wait to put more miles on them.

Favorite model of VFFs released in the last three years!
I love my VFFs and feel that with the molded mesh 'rock block' in the new Spyridon models it increases the activities I can do in them. They feel more protective than the KSO without sacrificing what I love about them, the ground feel! Greatest mix of both yet!
Fit: I have a slimmer, more low profile foot, and this non-laced Spyridon model fits my foot perfectly. After being disappointed with the fit of the Spyridon LS that was released about six months ago, I was super excited to find that all the fit issues I had with the LS were addressed in this model. Those familiar with the Five Fingers should know it fits like the KSO, except the upper is thicker and has less stretch than the KSO. If you have a high volume foot or a wider foot, the LS would be a better choice. But for those in love with the standard KSO fit and want a little more 'rock block' than the KSO offers, this is THE model! I look forward to the other color scheme and plan on getting another pair.
