Comments about Solo Camping Lighter:
As several others have written, this lighter does not light reliably. When it does light, the flame is very small and weak. If you turn the flame adjuster knob, all the butane leaks out. It's not a dependable product, so I returned mine. Too bad-- it's a great idea--just poorly constructed.

Comments about Solo Camping Lighter:
I just used this to light the stove for every meal for two weeks in Baja, Mexico for two weeks. We were coastal sailing (sailing a small boat and camping on the beach on the Sea of Cortez). It worked reliably, even in fairly high winds during a Norte (three day wind storm). Sometimes the piezo ignition clicks and the flame doesn't light, as with most lighters: you just click again and it usually works. The extendable neck was great for reaching the MSR Whisperlite's fuel bowl. With the neck pushed in it packed well so it conveniently fit in a little pouch with our kitchen essentials. I have not tried this lighter at mid or high altitude but it was great at sea level.

Comments about Solo Camping Lighter:
The extension tip is very handy for lighting stoves, charcoal, etc. However, the flame adjuster does not work correctly. I tried adjusting it for a larger flame. But if turned too far, it sprays out the butane fuel. The flame will only light if the adjuster is turned all the way +. And even all the way +, the flame is too small and even a slight puff of wind blows it out. Mine does light reliably and works okay indoors.

Bought this to keep in car camping gear. We camp at about 11,000 feet and this lighter didnt work well at altitude. Stick with storm proof matches.

Comments about Solo Camping Lighter:
I concur with the negative reviews already written: difficult to use the switch, does not consistently light. It seems to work 1/2 the time at altitudes to about 10,000 ft, then above that it fails completely. I confirmed that there is gas but the spark does not light it. Turning the knob to max or min flame makes it worse. This was my second after retuning the first for the same problems.

Comments about Solo Camping Lighter:
I bought this product because of its extandable flame which would be awesome to light propane camping stoves and grills. I filled the unit with butane, extended the flame nozzle and clicked the igniter and, wham, it lite on the first try! I thought, wow, this is going to be my go-to lighter for camping trips and to light my wood stove at home. Then I decided to adjust the flame according to the instructions. The lighter promptly expelled all the butane I had just filled it with!!!! Not only was that dissappointing I suspect that it could be somewhat dangerous. Obviously I will return it. Too bad.

The flame is totally useless. It's disappointing this product even made to the shelves.

Bought to replace my recalled Soto lighter. May light 1 out of every 25 times you click the ignitor. The smallest puff of wind will blow the flame out every time. A simple $1 Bic lighter works far more better than this. Would give it 0 stars if I had the option! Will be returning!

Comments about Solo Camping Lighter:
I returned the Soto Pocket Blowtorch, which never made it into the field before it stopped working, and exchanged it for the Solo Camping Lighter. It was easy to fill and lit easily. The flame extension feature should prove useful. The Soto was a piece of garbage, I hope this lighter is an improvement.
