    I have owned or still own multiple Gerber knives, all of which have made me a huge fan. I wanted a folding knife with an assisted open and could not resist buying this very neat tanto folder.

    My first impressions of the knife were great visually, but poor functionally. I found it very difficult to start the assisted opening mechanism. After practicing and breaking it in, it is now easier to open. My biggest complaint with the knife is another characteristic of the opening mechanism. There is a vibration felt throughout the handle knife for several seconds after opening. This is caused by an engineering flaw in the opening mechanism. I find this extremely annoying, but more a nuisance then a functional problem.

    The knife's blade was sharp out of the box and is holding a blade very well considering the sub-par metal used. It is as sturdy as any Gerber I have owned and will continue to buy more. I can't say that I would pay the same price again, but would still recommend for others if it goes on sale.

      I really liked the design of this knife until I tried to open it and clip it onto my shorts/pants. The way they designed the blade opening knob/mechanism doesn't allow for a fluid opening motion. Once it makes it past the initial push, it swings open brilliantly, but it takes too much to begin. Also, the clip grips my pocket opening so tightly it feels like it is going to rip the seams on my pants when I try to remove it. I am going to return it for something with a smoother mechanism.

      The Gerber Venture is a great knife, but the steel quality was not as good as I expected...the deployment, lockup, and everything else was beautiful! THIS is still a great knife! i recommend it
