Comments about Avenir Panorama Half-Watt Rear Bike Light - 2011 Closeout:
I commute year-round, which means I see a lot of after-dark (or before dawn) riding in the winter. I picked up a couple of these based on the reviews here on REI outlet. Honestly, I can't tell any difference between this light and the PB Superflash (even interchangeable mounting brackets). I ride with my wife fairly often, and the flash pattern and beam are consistent with the PB, which means I highly recommend this light. The only downside to this (and the PB) is that the focused beam is not terribly visible from the side, so make sure you have good reflectivity and perhaps a couple tail/side lights. However, it means that a well-aimed light is visible from a long distance behind you.

Comments about Avenir Panorama Half-Watt Rear Bike Light - 2011 Closeout:
This unit is knockoff copy of the Planet Bike superflash, but it is not quite the same quality. The superflash and Turbo Superflash is the gold standard for light weight highly visible tail lights. I own three of them! This Avenir unit is a cheaper knockoff. They tried to exactly copy the superflash, but the plastic feels cheaper, the LEDs are not focused as well. Visibility range is not quite as far as the superflash. But, being about 1/3 the price, this unit might be a keeper for a spare unit.

Comments about Avenir Panorama Half-Watt Rear Bike Light - 2011 Closeout:
The price was right, at [$] shipped, but with only two modes, this tail light falls short. The flashing mode is absolutely seizure inducing. Bad enough that I'd feel bad forcing drivers to watch it. The steady mode is fine, and this will probably end up on my helmet or bag in steady mode as a supplement to a more reasonable flashing light.I would only recommend this light as a secondary option.

does what I ask it to, which is not to get hit by careless drivers... so far so good.
