Comments about Chaco Updraft 2 Sandals - Men's:
I really like this upgrade to the chaco sandal. It's light and moves well on varied terrain. Most important to me was what feels like a slightly wider heel cup. The original chaco z/2 really chafed my heel, while the new updraft doesn't.
Downsides? Well the plastic can rub your ankle at time. If you're hiking on uneven terrain it can even blister. After you get used to that it's no big deal other than the fact that the plastic piece squeaks constantly as you walk. Definitely not your sneaky sandal...

Comments about Chaco Updraft 2 Sandals - Men's:
These are really wonderful outdoorsy sandals. I'd recommend them to just about anybody. The only downside (and this is likely because it's my first use of Z2 sandals) is that they rubbed the sides of my feet for a while and I had some pretty gnarley blisters for a while. As soon as my skin toughened up around that area I have not had a problem, so just be aware it will take some breaking into!

Great shoe all around. Ocassional rock get in and can be uncomfortable but they are easy to get out. The staps also rub until you break them in well. Very easy to clean and ultra durable.

Comments about Chaco Updraft 2 Sandals - Men's:
I liked the light weightness of these sandals, new style and look. But, after wearing a pair off and on for the past few months the sole is starting to separate. I had to mail order as REI didn't have in stock when I purchased. So, was unable to try on before purchase. When they arrived ,they were a little on the small side for my normal size 10. And pull strap to tighten was very short and hard to get tight.Nice to look at,but not long lasting.

The first use I got out of my pair was disc golfing and this course was hilly. I went down my first hill and the plastic part chafed against my ankles and it was irritating especially when blisters developed. I've taken it on many expeditions and the best uses for these are kayaking, scooter rides and they are also great at lectures. The new pattern looks great, I like the arch on them and I like the green color. I've found that if you clamped down with your toes it helps the plastic not chafe against your ankles. If they did away with the plastic piece and used rope instead then I would love it. Otherwise, just stick with a z2.

Comments about Chaco Updraft 2 Sandals - Men's:
First off, I like the fact that these Chacos are lightweight. They have a great sole pattern (which could be used on the more traditional chacos).
The bad part is that ankle piece that connects the heel strap and the main strap is plastic. This plastic piece scraped and brusied my ankle when I was in more technical terrain. I just got back from a road trip to Big Sur where I went on some minor hikes on the beach, (rocky terrain) and ended up with with three cuts on my left ankle and two on my right. Even days later, I put on bandaids but the ankle itself was brusied and hurt to use them.
Thankfully REI has a great return policy, so I'm going to trade these in for a regular pair of Z2s.

The side parts at the heel are plastic not rope like other chacos, this has caused me a few blisters. I would have preferred the rope.
They are super lightweight which is awesome!
But when I was at a local outdoor store I was told you cant get these restraped! I havent confirmed that, but I thought the point was to buy a pair of chacos for life then get them restrapped if need... Just something to look into
