Salomon XR Mission Trail-Running Shoes - Women's is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for Speed Demons I run. On trails. Up and down mountains. Small ones, big ones, snowy ones, dry ones, muddy ones, rocky ones, ones that are flat, have rolling hills or are really, really steep. These are great for walkers or hikers. Not for running. The traction is not great for any sort of speed, even a light jog on anything more than rolling hills. Switchbacks? Forget about running down them, and be careful going up if it's too steep or pebbly. You may slip. Especially if you tend to land on the balls of your feet, which is where this shoe's traction gives. If you're just hiking or walking, you will be very, very pleased with these. No rubbing, no blisters. I wore them on a 14 mile run on flats first time out of the box. They were perfect. Or so I thought. I'm just sad I waited to test speeding down hills. I'm back to my Soloman Speedcross 3s. Those are for speed demons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Took some break-in mileage With a prominent arch I chose these because they offered the most support, as much as I could tell from wearing them around the store. However, within a couple miles of my first run I could feel blisters brewing. I debated exchanging them before I put any more wear on but decided to try to wear them in because I hate shopping for shoes. Fortunately they did get better and I was able to wear them for a long distance relay with miles on dirt roads. I had one section of seven downhill miles and I still have my toenails! Looking forward to many more miles on dirt trails...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love them!!! I use these shoes for outdoor trail running, hiking all types of terrain, indoor gym use, cross-training such as metabolic conditioning, and when my feet are sore and I don't want to wear my normal work shoes for 12 hours of being on my feet, I wear these. I have a history of plantar fasciitis and usually put special insoles in my shoes. Surprisingly the insoles that come with the shoes are very comfortable and keep my foot aligned just right. I love these shoes and will probably continue to buy more when my current pair wears out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect fit for my feet I tried on over 20 pairs of shoes in a different store; the next day I went to REI and the salesperson took one look at my feet and gave me this shoe. It has a very wide toe box, which I need. With every other shoe it felt like the inner ball of my foot was hanging over the edge. Also has great arch support. Love the "no-tie" lace method. I've worn them for walking, running, and running errands & I love them. I'm no marathon runner, but they work for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing Last month I decided it was time to invest in some better trail shoes. I read great reviews about these shoes, and have had conversations with friends who LOVE them. I have narrow feet and high arches, and the helpful sales people at my local REI thought these would be the perfect fit. When I tried them on in the store, they felt great. Sadly, I will have to invest in another pair of shoes if I want to keep training for longer races. I really want these shoes to work, but I have used them on at least 10 shorter runs (5 miles or less), and I keep getting blisters on my heels and my arches. I can't remember any other running shoes giving me blisters on my arches! I think that these are great looking shoes, and the pull laces would be awesome for trail races, but I wanted to write a review and share that these are not for everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I use this for light street walking and trail walking. Amazingly comfortable. I am very happy with the comfort, support and looks of this shoe. Great traction and cushion to enjoy various out door activities. I am not a runner but these do feel light weight enough to were i would imagine a runner would be comfortable with these shoes

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fit - great comfort - great style I use these shoes when running on mixed terrain (pavement to trail) and I use the shoes for indoor work - indoor rowing, indoor body weight exercises (push-ups, lunges etc.). The shoes are extremely comfortable which is what totally sold me on the salomon brand which I have been wearing for years. I love the good arch support and the larger toe box. I really love the great colors and style too. These are GREAT shoes. The only negative I have is that the traction could be better. The rubber that the soles is made of is a little too hard and slippery for my uses. Indoors when I'm doing push-ups or whatever, my feet slide if the floor is even just a little damp (from sweat...). Outdoors, especially in cold weather or if there is a little patch of ice here or there, the shoes could have more traction too. But that's all. The rest of the positives really make up for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome shoes These shoes are lightweight but provide plenty of support for hiking and trail running. I normally wear a 9.5 in most running shoes, but bought size 9 in these for a perfect fit. Nice width, not too tight or too sloppy.
