Comments about Keen Westport Shoulder Bag - Women's:
Bag was gift from children. They chose based on color, pockets, reused materials and Keen brand name. (My Keen sandals are my favorite go-to shoe)
The hopes of several sized pockets would accommodate my needs to store/carry several diabetic supples ( meter, glucose tabs, juice box and granola bar) in addition to my everyday purse supplies.
PROS: I like the lightweight material and durable recycled materials. Was easy to wash; warm gentle wash and tumble NO heat dry. No complaints regarding rips, tears or faulty zippers. I also like the adjustability of the shoulder strap, which allowed for a short length to carry the bag under my arm.
CONS: Useless pockets causes main storage clutter. 2 large outer side pockets appeared as option for iPhone and gum/Chapstick. However, the shallow, wide side pockets aren't deep enough to have my iPhone sit vertically and too wide pockets doesn't secure the phone in the pocket. (My phone also has an Otter Box tough case cover. Without the case on, the phone could sit in pocket horizontally, but pocket may still be loose fitting for phone) as for gum, Chapstick, etc, again the loose wide-shallow pockets didn't keep the items tucked in. Often my little items would spill out upon setting bag down. I abandoned the outer pockets and stored those items inside the main compartment.
The front hidden zippered pocket was not big enough for my phone w/case or my checkbook wallet. I used for Chapstick, gum and glucose tablets.
The backside smaller pocket had an elastic opening to keep smaller item/s secured. This pocket, if designed for a phone, is way too small for a common smart phone size. If user is using an older compact flip style phone, this pocket may work. I could not use this pocket.
Inside the bag, there is a sewn zippered pocket into the bag liner. This pocket is standard sized and easily held smaller items such as beauty compact, tweezers, sm tissue pack and Swiss Army pocket knife.
There is an elastic webbed-cargo style pocket sewn into one side-end of inner compartment. This easily held a full sized juice box and granola bar.
There is a sewn in key lanyard with carabiner. I've always found the key lanyards to be a challenge for me on all my bags, as the intention is to attach keys for easy find and toss back into compartment. But I've always found the keys would migrate to the bottom of bag buried under the larger contents, not making key retrieval an easy process. I did not use the lanyard, but didn't expect too either.
The open large compartment easily held my glucose meter, checkbook wallet and other random loose items that gathered. Problem was, when needing to grab an item, I often had to remove the other contents too. This was quite a hassle each time at the register. I realized I benefited from bags that had compartments/slots separated to organize and keep neat. The large compartment quickly became a big collection pile, definitely not organized!
I believe the soft sided style of this bag also contributed to the collection pile. This is a typical hobo-style bag with no rigid sdes.
In the end, I tried to make the bag work for my needs, but did return after 1 month use. I advise going to the retailer before purchasing, and trying on the bag with your purse contents inserted for a best assessment. REI has always been accommodating with try-on and filling bags, luggage, etc with contents while inside the store for a best fit, as well as the store return policy is subperb. I rather spend a few dollars more at REI on a product merely due to the return policy.

Comments about Keen Westport Shoulder Bag - Women's:
I am using this as my everyday handbag, it's my second Keen bag. Love it. The pockets inside are awesome. They have redesigned the outer pocket on the back for a smartphone (confirmed by emailing Keen) and the Velcro strap has been replaced by an elasticized band which holds my phone super secure and doesn't snag on my clothes. The interior of this bag is mad practical. Strap is pretty and sits nice on my shoulder. The base of the bag is structured in such a nice way. They really put attention into the little details that make the difference between this and other bags out there. Love the color and fabric also.

Comments about Keen Westport Shoulder Bag - Women's:
This is my every day purse. I love the organizational opportunities, the phone pocket and the key fob. It is lightweight, attractive, and versatile. I did add a 1" velcro closure to each of the 2 outer side pockets to ensure that items would not easily slip out. So now, for me, it is the perfect bag in which to tote my stuff.
