Comments about New Balance MT10 Minimus Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
Before purchasing these shoes, I tried out the Merrell Barefoot shoes. I ended up going through two pair of those because the inner liner kept peeling up and giving me even more blisters than I already had. Those shoes made my feet and heels bleed every run, no matter how long I tried to condition my feet for them. Because they have been reviewed so highly, however, I truly believe that the shoe you should choose depends on your foot shape.
The Minimus shoes are much better for my feet. They are high quality which is a huge deal for me, and they have an elastic skin and opening that allows them to fit your feet much more comfortably than the Merrells, which are built from a much less flexible material. Running in these shoes is tons of fun -- Great traction for trails and super breathability for the long, hot runs.
If you're a purist and think that 4mm is too much heel-to-toe drop for a "Minimalist" shoe, then maybe the NBs aren't right for you. From my experience though, the minimal drop in the Minimus is hardly noticible, if not even more comfortable. Just an all- around awesome shoe...and the black looks awesome!!

Comments about New Balance MT10 Minimus Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I'd been running in the Vibram Five Fingers KSO's for about a month prior to purchasing the NB Minimus, and wanted something a bit warmer for the winter and a shoe that is more geared toward the trails. I looked at the Merrell Trail Glove and found that while it had a bit more bang for the buck in terms of higher end material and features, it runs a bit narrow for my flat feet. I wear a 40 in the VFF's and a 9.5 in a typical running shoe. I decided to go one half size down with the NB Minimus and have been very pleased with the fit. They are extremely lightweight and despite not having a 'zero drop' like my VFFs, I'm still able to maintain good form in my foot strike. No blistering or hot spots yet and I've put about 12 miles on them in my first two runs.
Excited to log some more miles on these! Great minimalist shoe that really delivers on comfort and performance.

Comments about New Balance MT10 Minimus Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I have been running in Vibram Fivefingers lately, and Love them, but, I definitely need something "beefier" for certain trails and cities, so I decided, to go for the MT10. When they arrived I realized, that the size wont work for me. I use VFFs in 41 and usually used 10.5 running shoes (with half a thumb space), apparently by running in VFF my feet have grown a bit larger (my toes are extending). And now the MT10 in 10.5 feels small (less than half a thumb).
I will buy them again, but now I am wary if I should buy 11 or 11.5.
Anyway, these shoes are awesome (2 short runs in them), I feel as light as in the VFFs, I feel I am working out the same muscles, but I feel more protected, without carrying the weight of normal shoes. The movement feels unrestricted.
I´d like to see a little wider toe box so my toes are truly free. Other than that and the size mistake. I believe they are a great shoe!!

I After running in Vibrams for 9 months I injured my foot and was looking to replace the shoe but not the method of running. The Minimus is the perfect shoe for this transition. They protection from the ground but you feel enough surface to respond barefoot like. I run mainly on trails but these allow me to train on the road as well. Great lightweight flexible shoe.

Comments about New Balance MT10 Minimus Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I had to stop running a few years ago because the impact on my knees was causing too much pain. I then switched to the 5 fingers to promote mid-strike running that takes a lot of the impact away from your knees. The problem I experienced was that they gave me a lot of blisters and did not allow you to land on a rouge pebble without making sure you felt it.
I picked up these shoes and experienced all of the same good things as I did with the 5 fingers without any of the cons. I only run about 3 mile trips but from the start of wearing these shoes, they didn't give me any blisters! I have taken them on several runs and they are incredibly comfortable from start to finish.
NOTE: If you have not worn a mid-strike running shoe before, they do take a little getting used to. Much of the impact is taken away by your calves. This means if you are not used to this running style and you start to feel a bit of tightening or tensing in your calves then STOP!!
I didn't take the above warning the first time which made me unable to walk right for the next 3 days. If it's your first time, ease into this style of running shoe.
OVERALL: I love this shoe. Strongly recommend. They fit better than other mid-strike shoes that I tried on also. And they feel great. Make sure they fit to your fit snugly. You don't want the traditional wiggle room as with other shoes.

Comments about New Balance MT10 Minimus Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
The most disappointing thing about this "minimalist" shoe is that it isn't minimalist at all.It isn't a zero drop. But that's fine NB claims it is an in between shoe. But the thing that really kills it however is this weird arch support that's built into the sole. Why is this on a minimalist shoe?!
The arch support wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't in such a terrible place: directly in front of your arch instead of slighting behind it. The result is a really uncomfortable experience.
The shoe runs quite tall. So there is a noticeable gap on the sides of your feet which no amount of tightening the laces can close.
It might work for some. But if you do get it, order the black. The shape of the toe box and the funky coloring makes the silver model look like clown shoes.
Happy hunting.

After about 40 miles, the rubber tread started peeling off the bottom in multiple areas. They aren't a good design for trail running where you will encounter rocks. The openings between the rubber makes your feet very vulnerable to small rocks jabbing into your feet.

I stay fit with running, biking, resistance training, and tennis. I haven't quite gotten used to this type of minimalist shoe for road running, but I love the sparse, light feel. They're sort of like a martial arts shoe but with better traction.

I love this shoes. I even went and brought there winter runs for the colder Rainer days and love them. I just what to say that the people in the shoe department were excellent service rocked. When I tried the five fingers my toes would not work for them and the salesperson told me about the new balance and I tried them on and loved them. I am going through the two month break in time and it's hard to wear any shoe but the minimus my feet love them. Thanks you!

I bought these 1/2 size smaller than my usual athletic shoe -- b/c that's what the salesperson advised. Not sure I would do that again in hindsight. Difficult to know if I've stretched them out just yet. Works very well on my eliptical. Looking forward to trying them while on a car trip. Wouldn't recommend for everyday use (at least for me, just yet).
