Osprey Kestrel 32 Pack is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome and versatile day pack! My first real experience with the Kestrel 32 was a 3 day trip to Las Vegas. I know that doesn't sound like much of a test for hiking gear, but it was a very good opportunity to test it out. The Kestrel 32 is perfect as a carry-on backpack for air travel. And I was able to pack it with 3 days worth of clothes, toiletries, and personal items. The waist, sternum, and compression straps were very helpful in carrying a full load in long lines at the airport. And the adjustable, padded shoulder straps were very soft and comfortable. The panel loading is also useful as you can get to many items in your backpack without having to take everything out. Unlike top loading backpacks. It also rained on that trip, but not enough to open up the built in rain cover. But the backpack itself did a great job of repelling water from a drizzle to a light rain. It also held up very well with being thrown through x-ray machines and tossed in the trunk of taxi cabs. I've also taken it on several day hikes since then, and the Kestrel 32 is just as useful and comfortable on day hikes through the mountains, as it is on the Las Vegas strip. NOTE: The Kestrel 32 comes in two sizes, S/M and M/L. The S/M only holds up to 30 liters instead of the full 32 liters. Just an fyi if you like as much storage as possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is there such a thing as anti-gravity? I had an old daypack that I thought was comfortable, but I might as well believe in anti-gravity after extensively using the Kestrel 32 for a month. I prefer using large hiking daypacks for my everyday activities because they can carry large loads comfortably, and other types of packs are simply too small or not comfortable enough. I take my daypacks on long hikes, but I also use them to commute on my bike daily. On any given day it'll haul my laptop, groceries, or gym clothes, in rain or shine. I just can't believe how comfortable it is and how gear and supplies simply disappear into the pack. It has nice attachment points that I happen to use for my rear bike light and my bike pump. I know it's meant as a outdoor pack, which it also performs beautifully, but it's also delivers as my daily workhorse. I do have a few things I wish was different about the Kestrel. One, for 32 liters it seems al littler smaller than I expected and wanted, and I know there are larger Kestrel models but I prefer panel loading above all. The hipbelt is almost too big for me, and I own the small/medium size, so this pack might not be so good if you have a slim figure like me. Finally, I wish there was at least one more pocket to better organize the daily accessories better. These complaints are relatively small compared to comfort and versatility of this pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amesome day pack and summit pack!!! Purchased this Osprey 32 about a year ago. Have used almost weekly since for day hikes, peak bagging and snow shoeing weather permitting. My previous daypack was very comfortable with good capacity, but started to wear out. The Osprey 32 is a great improvement over my previous pack. Rides quite comfortably with a 20 to 25 pound load (hipbelt makes all the difference). Features I particularly like are the contoured back panel (fits me like a glove), stow and go trekking pole attachment works as advertised (great for switching from trekking to scarmbling and back as needed), numerous and well thought out exterior pockets (I find the hipbelt pockets are particularly useful for items I need quick access to). Very good day pack or summit pack. Minimalist crowd might find it useful for short backpack trips but may be a little short on capacity.
