Comments about Ocean Kayak Frenzy Sit-On-Top Kayak with Paddle:
After much research trying to find something compact enough to use when transporting in or on our 5th wheel on trips we tried the Frenzy only 9' long (our max was 8-9') and the Point 65 Tequila sectional boat side by side. The Frenzy OUTPERFORMED the Point 65 in tracking by a LONG shot! So much so, we took it back and bought another Frenzy, even though we have to work at getting both kayaks in the 5th wheel. We were so worn out with trying to fight the poor tracking ability of the Point 65 portability did not matter at that point. The Frenzy was stable, easy to carry with lots of handles, nice seat and price point which included paddles. The tracking was great, good maneuvering ability and speed was good for us, we are just into day, siteseeing and fishing uses. Paddling was easy too for us beginning recreational users. :) Great kayak for its 8-9' class! As for my seat getting a little wet, we have just purchased the scuffer plugs for the back by the seat, so hopefully this will solve the problem, which is not that much of an issue to us. We are very happy! Hope this helps future paddlers.

Comments about Ocean Kayak Frenzy Sit-On-Top Kayak with Paddle:
When I went searching for a boat a few years ago I wanted something cheap and stable. I did not know how much I was going to kayak, and I didn't want to put a lot of money into to find out I just did not like it. I fell in love with this boat and now go about once a week. I have taken it to the lake and the ocean. I like the ocean best as I can ride the waves, or just paddle out in the swells. There are no rivers nearby, so I cannot comment.
Comments about Ocean Kayak Frenzy Sit-On-Top Kayak with Paddle:
After watching my twin 8 year olds paddle our sit-in kayaks and kicking butt, we decided it was time we all had a boat. I spent quite a lot of time researching and comparing, and decided we'd try some sit-on-top boats for various reasons.
We already have 3 sit-in rec boats for myself, wife and oldest daughter (10).
For the little ones, we wanted ultra steady, no potential for getting stuck in them if they capsize with mini-monkies in them.
To try our hand at surfing some waves!
My wife and I took them out on the Assabet River for their maiden voyage two days ago. We were blown away by how much we liked the Frenzies! So much so, that we've decided the kids can have the Perceptions, because we're taking the Ocean Kayaks! We got them through REI after looking everywhere for them in a package with a seat and paddle.
The pros:
1. With the clip in seat, they are even more comfortable than our sit-ins.
2. I love the simple foot braces, allowing you to adjust your foot position as desired without having to fiddle with adjusting sliders, etc.
3. They float even higher in the water, and even though they are sit-on-top kayaks, they have a nice "pocket" to sit in.
4. Incredibly stable, almost impossible to capsize. I hear people dive off them!
5. They track just fine IMO, without too much left to right motion, unless you are cranking... and it happens with our Perceptions too.
6. We jokingly rammed each other to see what would happen, and they hardly moved, and definitely didn't tip. Good news if the kids or us hit something like a hidden rock, etc.
7. The keel line and short length helps keep it straight and allows for quick and easy turns.
8. Without the scupper plugs (at least on the river), barely any water got in the boat, and with the scupper plugs, almost no water, aside from water from our paddles and horsing around.
Cons:
1. They are pretty bulky, and harder for me to load and unload myself onto the roof of my Nitro and off again. They are only 4 pounds heavier than our Perceptions, but it feels like more.
2. The keel line makes it fit strangely on the Hull A Port racks on my car, and the 15' Thule straps weren't big enough to fit the boats! I had to thread them through the scupper holes to get them home from REI!
3. The handles on the sides seem like with any rough pulling would snap off, but only time will tell.....if we treat them well, I'm sure they will be fine.
4. Coming to shore with the keel line is awkward, because you end up tipping to one side as you beach it.
5. They are LOUD when there is any sort of current or waves. For the person on the kayak, it doesn't seem too loud, but when you are next to another Frenzy, you can hear it! The water slaps the hull when the water is anything less than glass.
6. They are not too fast.
Overall, even though there are cons, I was playing devil's advocate for the sake of the review. All of the cons are dealable.
I can handle the extra weight, and it's totally easy with another person.
I'm going to try a stacker with cradle stops for a better fit.
Will take it easy on the handles.
Will embrace the tipping when beaching.....good practice for balance.
Really not that loud, especially if you stop paddling. My wife and I snuck up to 2 swans by paddling gently and coasting right up to them.
Who cares about speed? I'm in it for the hang and fun, not the race. Humans tend to race through life instead of living in the now. Plus, if the kids use the Perceptions which are faster, we'll have a more even playing field!
Today, my friend Sean and I took the Frenzies out to Plum Island in Newburyport MA to try some ocean kayaking and surfing. It was amazing! This is where the Frenzies really soar, on the ocean with waves. We trekked out at the beach and hooked right to the wildlife sanctuary where beach goes were not allowed. We hit some great waves, and got thrashed by the surf! Some of the waves were so big, they totally spilled us on the beach, rolling the yaks over the top of us. We laughed the whole time, immediately going out for more.
The Frenzies turned quickly to catch waves that surfaced, and they were great trudging out through the surf. Very easy to get back on when you spill further out too.
Go get one, you'll be happy. For the money, it's a stable, awesome boat.

Comments about Ocean Kayak Frenzy Sit-On-Top Kayak with Paddle:
This is the first kayak I have owned and I definitely researched it before the purchase. It's been great so far just paddling around the lakes and rivers in Missouri, it's darn near impossible to tip over. One of the lakes I was paddling on had quite a bit of wake from passing boats and wave runners but this kayak just rides it out pretty smoothly. I cannot wait to actually take it out on the ocean one of these days. It may not track as well as other kayaks and be a bit slower but it maneuvers easily. I think it's quite durable although I did already tear the rear strapeye apart when I had it tied down to my vehicle. No issues though as I called Ocean Kayak customer service and they sent me out the repair part at no charge.
It is light enough for me to carry by myself for very short distances as it's an awkward carry. I'm only 5'4" but I have no issues loading it on top of my small SUV all by myself. It's size/shape (not the weight) make it awkward to load by myself and I just lay a towel down to avoid scratching the vehicle and hoist it up fairly easily.

This is 100% the BEST thing i have ever bought. It was such an incredible deal too! (Well i got mine on sale here on the REI website) It's really worth the money.
I researched the Frenzy Ocean Kayak for 2 years before buying it, and let me say... i wish i bought it sooner! The size & stability is AMAZING. It's wide, but not too wide. it's extremely stable as well. The color is a very vivid one, which will make spotting the kayak very easy. It's a very cool little kayak! It's reccomended for beginners, like myself.
As it is an ocean kayak, you can use it in the oceans or lakes, etc. It's a sit-on-top, so you wont sit inside a hole like a classic sit-in kayak. It's very comfortable, and the molded-in foot wells are really neat! (When you're paddling, your feet can press on them giving you more speed & stability) Very hard to tip into the water. There's two storage areas in the front and back with removable bungee cords. They can hold a lot of day-trip things. I RECCOMEND THIS TO EVERYONE WHO LOVES THE OCEAN! If i could rate it 5 million stars, i would!
The paddle is very nice and stable, and the oversized grips are very neat too. The seat is padded and gives you a lot of support. Without the seat, you'd be extremely uncomfortable in your kayak!

Perfect for the beach or bay - places with a little to a lot of "chop." Very sturdy (will not tip) and very easy entry. For the price this is overall, a good boat. Also, up until this year, the Frenzy didn't come with a paddle... now it does!

Comments about Ocean Kayak Frenzy Sit-On-Top Kayak with Paddle:
Used this kayak on the ocean and it worked great. Felt really stable even in some moderate waves, and tracked exceptionally well. The seat is really comfortable and gives great back support. I really like the size - big enough to feel solid and stable, but small enough for a female to carry short distances. The only down side was the scupper holes in the seat area, combined with a relatively low sitting seat area, allow water to pool in the seat. Not very comfortable to sit in a pool of water, but I'm sure some scupper stoppers will fix that problem.

Comments about Ocean Kayak Frenzy Sit-On-Top Kayak with Paddle:
Great kayak for a beginner or recreational paddler. Salt water bay with a moderate breeze was no problem - super stable, not even the slightest worry of tipping or wave breaks. The foot rests were great. The chair is exceptionally comfortable with great back support. The paddle felt light but sturdy and I liked the ovalized grip. Manuerverability seemed great to me, and I sometimes struggle with keeping a longer kayak on target.
