This Fan/light worked well till the recharge batterie pack died unfortunately it was the first night at only 2am in the morning and the temperature was still 89 degrees out n humid. I wanted to buy the plug pack for the fan but was not available so my options were D batteries or the recharge pack we brought both just to be on safe side. The recharge pack died the first night after less then 3 hrs of fan only use and the second night the D batteries went in about the same amount of time and yes the batterie pack charged for about 27 hrs before we left for the trip and was used the same night. Needless to say it was returned when we got home.

We used the fan in our large family tent to add a little extra air movement while camping at the beach. It was better than not having it, but I just wish they made a fan that had more power or ability to create a breeze. The light is wonderfully bright and makes the tent like being in a room in your house at night. We were able to change, give everyone a tick check and get into bed just like at home.

I'm not sure about the mechanical aptitude of the previous poster, but the magnetic clip system was extremely easy, as well as sturdy to use. I never read any of the instructions, yet had zero issues. I do, however, agree that the floor stand fold out, needs better range of adjustment, which is why I gave this 4 stars and not 5. Overall this is a great product.

I have only used this fan on a single three-night camping trip. The batteries have yet to run out of fan-juice. While not as powerful as an electric fan, if you need a light breeze to keep you from sweating your guts out, this will do the trick. I used 4 D batteries, but Coleman's rechargeable pack may give you even better results.

The fan can sit up on its retractable stand, or it can hang from a built-in hook and magnetic clamp. The magnet is strong enough to hold the fan without fear of it crashing down onto your sleeping companions. And the 4 D-battery-filled fan isn't too heavy for a tent wall to hold up.

I hung mine from the top of the tent, using the magnet. It hung a little over 4 feet above ground, and the breeze was still strong enough for me to feel it. If you get any closer to the fan, you can really feel the wind.

The built in light is more than bright enough to fill an entire tent - even on its dim setting. You can effortlessly read a book or give a shadow puppet performance to anyone sitting outside. And if you forget to turn the light off when you undress, you can really give them a show.

Mine may have a defect in it, but it was a little rattly sounding when hung up. It is nearly silent, though, when used sitting up on its stand. There is something about hanging the fan in a horizontal position that makes a light grinding noise that isn't present while the fan is sitting upright.

Contrary to the product description, the fan contains 4 blades, not 6. Collapsible stand has only two positions: about 70 degrees and folded; thus, very limited adjustment of the direction of the air flow while in standing position. The fan comes with a magnetic plate and hanger which I could not figure out how to attach to the fan -- maybe those can only be used with a power pack, but I have not tried that. The fan has only Hi, Low, and off speeds (no reverse). So, when hanged from a ceiling, the fan will be pushing the (hot) air toward the ground, rather than drawing the air upwards toward the roof vents. I consider the air flow pretty weak, even on the Hi setting: dripping hot sweat in 100 F (38 C) and about 80 % humidity and holding the fan 2 feet (60 cm) from my face, I could not feel any breeze. Lastly, the fan lasted less than six hours on Hi setting (died off some time during the night) using four D batteries. I did not use the LED light at all. So, don't know if it's useful.
