Comments about CRUD Roadracer MK2 Road Fenders:

I added these fenders to my 2011 Trek Madone 3.1 so that I could use it as a commuter. My bike has the pre-threaded fittings for fenders that other products utilize for a very stable installation, but this product is designed to work with higher end bikes that don't have those features. The installation is a bit dodgy because of this and isn't very precise. The instructional video on the product website even has a step that basically says "if it doesn't fit, cut part off with a hacksaw and try again." After getting them on, however, I have been very impressed with their performance. They keep the water off of the bike and me, aren't bulky or heavy so carrying the bike onto the train isn't difficult, and they look great.

Comments about CRUD Roadracer MK2 Road Fenders:

Installed these on my Specialized road bike with 700x23 tires. The install was easy when following the video from Crud's site, but the plastic screws and nuts are complete junk. The screws on the stays aren't even long enough for a tight fit, which means the adjustment constantly slips, causing the fenders to rub. The nuts were actually popping off at times.

I like the coverage of these fenders, but I would never recommend these due to the flimsiness of the entire setup. These are definitely going back. I guess I'll try the Raceblades next.

Comments about CRUD Roadracer MK2 Road Fenders:

Installed on a 2012 Specialized Sirrus Limited (hybrid), 700c x 23 tires. They've been on for 400+ miles, and 4 months at the time of this review and I'm satisfied with them. They took a few hours of patient fiddling around to get them to fit, clearances are very tight on the bike. To my surprise, they've stayed in adjustment and I've not had to make any adjustments since the original installation. Pay heed to the 5mm minimum clearance specification between the tire and frame/fork/brakes. There was a little over 5mm clearance on my bike and the fit was still very tight. They do make noise when the tires pick up bits of gravel and scrape the insides of the fenders. The plastic nuts and bolts supplied are weak and I replaced them with metal ones, painted black with black nail polish. The fenders keep the bike clean and I spend the least amount of time cleaning this bike, as compared to my road bike and mountain bike. Although it's dry here in Arizona, I ride a greenbelt that's heavily watered in the summer and the pavement is always wet.

Comments about CRUD Roadracer MK2 Road Fenders:

These things work great. They are not rigidly anchored and so every now and then you have to pull out on the stays so they don't rub BUT the rubbing is very very minimal and quiet anyway. Even though I leave these on all year (hard to take off) they don't make your bike look bulky and also are pleasing on the eyes.... Anyway the only con I have is the complete lack of CLEAR instructions on how to install these babies. While it is easy, it is not straight forward which parts go which way and what not. I advise all to watch the video on UTube and just take your time. Anyway I highly recommend these to those who ride long, fast and are particular about the way things look on your bike...

Comments about CRUD Roadracer MK2 Road Fenders:

I used to race road bikes many years ago, and if I had these perhaps I wouldn't have gotten burned out when I did. Those years of training in the rain took thier toll, and fenders that would fit a good road bike where hard to come by. I don't race anymore, but still commute, and I put these on one of my road bikes for my wet rides here in soggy Portland, Oregon. Installation was pretty straight forward, and best of all, THEY FIT! It seems obvious that whoever designed these road race bikes as well, and overall, the design of these is brilliant. There is a tiny amount of tire rub, but nothing that will slow you down. I cannot think of a way that these could be improved, and I am really good at finding flaws. If you are a serious roadie, or just a commuter that rides a fast bike with minimal clearance, these are the way to go!

Comments about CRUD Roadracer MK2 Road Fenders:

Quite possibly the best road bike fender on the market. The roadracer mk2 is an outstanding product, offering supreme protection against even the worst conditions.

Crud have really thought about how to maximize coverage whilst keeping the fender light, inconspicuous and tough.

The coverage of the roadracer is so good, they're as good as full frame-fixed fenders. Yet without making your bike look like a hybrid commuter special.

Fitting is easy, although takes a bit of fine tuning, the instructions are clear and simple, so you won't have a problem.

All round excellent product, and highly recommended. Much much better than the usual 'race blade' type of fender, which simply don't compare.

Great idea and they really keep water and road grime off your bike and out of your shoes.
BUT it's really hard to stop them rubbing. I bus/bike commute and the bus rack always shifts them enough to rub.
Easy to put on, the video was useful, but I'm a Brit so understood the presenter!
I'll be returning them and putting SKS Blades back on (why didn't I buy a bike with braze on's!)

Comments about CRUD Roadracer MK2 Road Fenders:

I have a Cannondale Six Carbon 5 road bike with 700x23c tires and no braze-ons (eyelets) for fenders. After extensive research and review-reading, I opted for the Roadracer Mk 2 and waited excitedly for them to arrive.Well, it all went downhill from there.[...].Then I saw the instructions -- the worst I'd ever seen. It was just a single sheet with lousy diagrams, no parts list, and was more a simple list of "dos and don'ts" than actual instructions. I had to figure out how to connect the (many) parts together through trial and error, and I'm still not sure I did it right. I saw the video on their website and it helped a bit, but the guy was hard to understand and the photography was sub-par; it was fast and shot from distance and there was no way to see the parts up close.3 hours later, after a lot of experimentation, curses, zip-ties and tape, I finally had them fitted perfectly -- no rubbing, no sounds, structurally secured via the various clamps and ties. Phew. Then I took 'em out for a test ride.Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhrrhrhrhrhhhhhhhh.That couldn't be right, I thought -- was they ALREADY rubbing? It was a simple fix, fortunately; I just bent the plasticky rear fender up some more using brute force. It seemed to stay in place.A few minutes later, I went down a hill... rrrrrrrgrGrGrGrgruck-uck-uck-uck-uck-uck-uck. Little pieces of gravel from the road had gotten stuck between the tire and the fender; the minimal clearance had trapped them there and they were grinding nonstop.I tried clearing the fenders out, tried loosening the ties and bending them upwards for increased distance, even sawed off part of the front fender so it wouldn't keep drooping into my tire... still didn't work.I eventually gave up, out nearly four hours of my time and a good chunk of change.3 stars instead of less because they seem protective enough and would probably be great on a bike with additional clearance, but they completely failed on mine. I plan to give them to a friend (who has smaller tires and hopefully more clearance and will report back if that changes anything. But me, I'm done with 'em. They're not worth the trouble and the lousy, lousy instructions.

I ride daily and these fenders really work to keep me and the bike clean in this wet Seattle weather. The fenders fit cleanly and securely around my wheels; they are light weight so you can hardly tell they are there. The deraileur cover is unique and works. I am extremely happy with these fenders. Highly recommended:)

Thanks goes out to Dave at REI in Alderwood Mall. He installed them for me at no cost. Then when I saw him at the store a few weeks later he remembered me and asked how the fenders were working out. Bravo on the customer service!!!
