Rated 4 out of 5 by from Work Great Once You Get Them On I added these fenders to my 2011 Trek Madone 3.1 so that I could use it as a commuter. My bike has the pre-threaded fittings for fenders that other products utilize for a very stable installation, but this product is designed to work with higher end bikes that don't have those features. The installation is a bit dodgy because of this and isn't very precise. The instructional video on the product website even has a step that basically says "if it doesn't fit, cut part off with a hacksaw and try again." After getting them on, however, I have been very impressed with their performance. They keep the water off of the bike and me, aren't bulky or heavy so carrying the bike onto the train isn't difficult, and they look great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk - Not Recommended Installed these on my Specialized road bike with 700x23 tires. The install was easy when following the video from Crud's site, but the plastic screws and nuts are complete junk. The screws on the stays aren't even long enough for a tight fit, which means the adjustment constantly slips, causing the fenders to rub. The nuts were actually popping off at times. I like the coverage of these fenders, but I would never recommend these due to the flimsiness of the entire setup. These are definitely going back. I guess I'll try the Raceblades next.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not last long I was very excited to get these fenders and they installed very quickly. I soon noticed a major flaw in the design. They attach and secure with rubber bands! Umm how long do you think that will last? They almost lasted a year before they broke. Fenders are now worthless. Two on one side broke and even though others are good I have to take the entire front fender off because of those two little rubber bands. Also they piece together with plastic screw and nut which fell off somewhere and I lost the splash guard to both front and back fenders while riding. Luckily they come with 4 so I replaced them and this time used metal screws. Neat design but's it doesn't last long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty darn good, with tiny flaws I have had these for three years. I ride in town, a 7-mile commute, on an entry-level road bike (the Novara Divano that takes 700x25 tires.) The good: - Easy to install, at least on my mildly serious road bike with biggish tires. It took about an hour. - Very lightweight. - Durable enough. I have kicked them, twisted them, etc. and they bounce back pretty well. I did manage to break the eyelet at one end of a front stay doing something dumb, but enough of the eye remains that I can still tighten a screw in it. Crudproducts offers spares of everything on their website, but prices are in pounds. International shipping looks like it is free though (!). - They keep the water off. Maybe people know this already, but fenders help keep grit out of the chain, chainrings, cogset, etc., especially the front fender. That saves on wear and tear, maintenance, etc. The front fender covers about 30% of the wheel, the rear about 50%, which is not the most available but more than many other options. - They look cool (to me). The stays are slender and curve gracefully. They have almost a biomorphic look. The fenders themselves are long but narrow, and wrap closely around the tire. Nice. - The mounting method (a combination of nylon screws, zip ties and rubber elastic rings) is pretty secure. As with any bike product, you will want to wrap any contact points on the bike frame with tape, to protect the paint. The fuzzy rub strips are a great idea, but on my bike, the wheels don't even touch them, so there is zero drag. The bad - Little bits fall off sometimes. Nylon screws (actually bolts and nuts) do not hold tightly, and you can't use ordinary threadlock with them. So after a few years I had a screw holding the rear fender against the frame, and another holding the tail extension on the front fender come loose. The first caused a little rubbing in back, and the second made me lose the tail extension (the kit comes with two spares.) I got new nylon screws anmd nuts at a hardware store for a few bucks. To keep them from unscrewing, I left one long, and the other I trimmed it and softened it with a lighter, and pressed it with a spoon to make a little mushroom head. Now, every time I top off the tires, I I check and hand-tighten all the screws, which takes 8 seconds. You could also use stainless steel nuts and bolts, with threadlock. That's it. Other people have had trouble with gravel getting caught between the fender and tire. I haven't had that, but I have had leaves get caught in there, but that is not a big deal, and it happens with any road bike fender. What this means for me is that I can use my nice fast road bike with drop bars for commuting about 9 months a year. It seems like manufacturers are slowly recognizing the need for a quick commuter, but even now they typically use flat bars, which I hate. With fenders, a rack and lights, my (wannabe) racecar becomes an everyday ride. Which is cool.
