Comments about Byer TriLite Wash Station/Stool Combo:

When I got this as a gift, it seemed a little silly. But, these days I'm doing less backcountry camping and more car camping with groups, so why not, right? Oh my goodness, I can't tell you how wonderful it is. It makes it so you can really get dishes and such clean. It's a wonderful convenience, and really cut down on the time it takes me to clean up after a meal.

Comments about Byer TriLite Wash Station/Stool Combo:

We just returned from a 2 week Canadian Provincial Park and Montana car camp holiday. I added this at the last minute and was pleased at how useful it was. It sets up easily, is a great design for the camp dish washing chore and conserves water. It also is an easy carry to the gray-water drains found in bear country parks.

While it is constructed of very tough materials, be careful with knives as one puncture will ruin the integrity until repaired. TBS, a couple of self adhesive patches included in the kit would be a great idea. Also of negative note is the flimsy and unreasonably small carry bag. Should be a mesh/nylon bag to assist drying and definitely bigger!

It is a tripod leg unit so position the side with 2 legs under the wash pouch as this uses more water than the rinse.

Overall though, a great addition to car camping

Comments about Byer TriLite Wash Station/Stool Combo:

I saw this and had to have it! Mainly because I wanted to say "I camp with EVERYTHING including the kitchen sink!!" =) But really it is a great accessory to have if you are able to add another item to your gear. It can be a doozy to get the wash basin on and off the stand, but with an extra pair of hands (or concrete bench) its doable.

We heated up some water on our butane stove (not boiling) and mixed it with cooler water since I was unsure how the basin would work with hot hot water. It held my 9" skillet just fine and was easy to clean. The basin dried out quickly in the sunlight and I had no problems with the webbed "footing" being too wet (but I did towel off the dishes a bit).

The only slight problem I had was the skillet had been used to cook bacon. We wiped out the grease as much as possible, but we still had some to wash off. The grease that did get into the dishwater didn't want to come off/out of the basin. I had to wait until we got home to take it inside and clean it out thoroughly.

Also, the "seat" attachment that comes with the unit is not made for a very wide tush. It might be okay in a pinch, but not something I will be using on a regular basis.

I wish the carrying bag was a bit larger. It is difficult the wrap the basin back around the legs/stand and get it all back in the sack. Sometimes the combo to get it all in the sack is down right puzzling, but I made do.

All in all a really nice product and great addition for car campers!

Comments about Byer TriLite Wash Station/Stool Combo:

I've had this for a few years now as a way to get the wife involved with backcountry camping (she doesn't like a mess.) We didn't use it much at first since it's a little larger and heavier than expected, though not unusually so. Once we got better at hauling loads on our bikes, it became standard equipment that makes camp life easy and more bearable from a cleanliness perspective. The wash station holds quite a bit of water and makes it easy to clean, rinse, and dry (separate slots for each) after a hearty meal on the trail. It's just plain useful to have a bunch of soap and rinse water handy as well for impromptu clean-up purposes.

Setting up requires practice as others have noted, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy. I'm tall and haven't noticed the height issue, but it is a little difficult to clean and dry. But frankly, you do it once at the end of the trip with a hose and it's not a big deal. Would definitely purchase it again.

Comments about Byer TriLite Wash Station/Stool Combo:

I read the other reviews and was looking forward to this. I bought it to go with my new REI camp kitchen.

First off, the clamps the the sink unit should fit in are angled to best fit the small seat. It took two people to pull on it to wedge the sink unit on the clamps. (the clamps do not adjust or shift) This means to fill the sinks, you have to carry the entire unit to the water source as well as take the whole thing to dump.

Second, it is only as tall as a standard chair. So to use you should be kneeing on the ground. OR place on the seat of a picnic table. Except that the legs are spread too far to fit on the seat of the picnic table, so it dumped on the person sitting next to it, ooops.

And lastly, the center drying section drains directly over the web center, so when done, you have to dry that part off too.

It will be returned if it does not cost more to ship back than I paid for it.
