Comments about Mammut Goblin Rock Climbing Shoes - 2010 Closeout:

loved these shoes at first, very sticky and aggressive. after only a couple months of climbing once a week, the rubber had worn so smooth i could not climb with them anymore. the velcro straps are so long you are constantly stepping on them. they do not hold their size well.

Comments about Mammut Goblin Rock Climbing Shoes - 2010 Closeout:

You won't find a better shoe for under a hundred bucks. I bought these as an upgrade to my first shoe (Evolv Defy) when I started getting more into bouldering. The sensitivity of the sole, combined with the down-turned last provide the sensation of "grabbing" the holds with your toes, a huge advantage on the steeper problems.

The only issue I have with the Goblin is that the Vibram rubber (which is great) is only on the front half of the shoe. While the heel isn't Vibram, I can't say I've slipped on any hooks yet, so this isn't a huge deal for me. I've heard complaints about the heel from others but, functionally, I haven't noticed a problem.

A note about sizing: The sizes listed on the site and on the side of the box are the EURO sizes. I wear an 8.5 (US) street shoe and ordered a 7.5 in the Mammut (which equates to an 8.5 US). These things run small; I wouldn't go more than a half size down from your street shoe.

Comments about Mammut Goblin Rock Climbing Shoes - 2010 Closeout:

My favorite shoes have been La Sportiva Katanas. These Mammuts stack up very favorably against them. Maybe even better. It's a shame they're discontinued, but you can't beat the close-out price. Size-wise, I wear a size 10 street shoe, wear a 41 Katana and a 9.5 in the Mammut.
