Comments about Jetboil Zip Stove:
Purchased for my son to use backpacking / hiking. Used last weekend in 20mph sustained winds at 30 degrees, and it still boiled water for our meals faster than any other stove there. It is difficult to regulate for more controlled cooking or would have given 5 stars!
Service and delivery comments:
Ordered online and received within a couple days. Always fast, always accurate shipping from REI

Comments about Jetboil Zip Stove:
After 50 plus years of backpacking, I have to say I'm really impressed. I bought this stove to replace an older broken liquid fuel stove and I have never seen water boil so fast. It really is lightweight, powerful and efficient. I'm sorry I didn't buy one years ago. Don't let the price get in your way. This stove is terrific.

Comments about Jetboil Zip Stove:
I recently bought this stove after doing some research on a few different lightweight stove systems. I like that it's a complete, integrated system.
I used it for 3 days camping in the Utah (Wasatch) backcountry. It worked great and I had no issues. I used it for melting snow to boil water for oatmeal and freeze dried dinners. I'd definitely recommend the Zip to others.

Comments about Jetboil Zip Stove:
I have several stoves (gas and liquid), and 2 JetBoils, and while the JetBoil delivers fast boiled water, that's pretty much all it can do. If you are a boiled-water only cooker, this is the way to go. However, if you cook directly in it, it is hard to clean. Also, the stove is basically useless for skillet or other pot use. I range from day trips to week-long backpack adventures, and can choose which stove type I want/need. If you have only one stove, I would not suggest this unless you only wnat boiling water (it's great at that). It's tops at what it does, but it's a one trick pony.

Comments about Jetboil Zip Stove:
I used this on a walking trip I took from Gardnerville, NV to Seattle, WA. I never had any problems with getting it started. Boils water SUPER FAST! When everything it comes with is stored inside the cup, the size and weight are very manageable. I did find it difficult to manage the temperature however. If there was too much gas, the water would boil out of control and and start bubbling up out of it and all over the place. I found out the hard way that if the water is boiling very rapidly, when it spills over the sides, it will melt the insulation material around the cup right on to it. Very difficult mess to clean up. Luckily it didn't do any damage. I found it best to turn the dial just enough to hear the gas flowing, then light it, then maybe turn it up ever so slightly more, then turn it off when the water starts to boil. The video that I took, attached to this review, was my very first time using it. I didn't realize at the time that the bottom of the cup attaches to the top of the stove area. Instead, I set the cup on the part that's suppose to be used for small frying pans. DO NOT DO THIS! Use it correctly, and it's very stable.

Comments about Jetboil Zip Stove:
I do see the complaints about poor temperature control. I must say that the control valve is a handful until it has warmed up, then it's pretty stable in flow control. I used it this time only to boil water for making coffee. The Jetboil Zip did this in minimal time and my campsite neighbors at last weekend's Fly-In envied me for my fresh coffee versus the watered-down stuff they had at the breakfast tent. It's very stable on the included tripod. I used it only twice this weekend but I'm sure the 100g Jetfuel can is nowhere near being empty. Very efficient fuel burn.

Comments about Jetboil Zip Stove:
Jetboil's claim to fame was the all in one stove that boiled water quickly. This stove is a lame attempt to sell Jetboil's name with out any of the benefits of the initial awesome idea. There is no auto light and no heat indication. This translates to not being abel to boil water with the top on unless you want it to boil over and having to bring matches or a lighter. The only reason to buy a jetboil was these awesome features, with out them, all you have is an expensive colman stove with a dedicated cup that won't cook anything else but water. If you want to buy a Jetboil, don't buy this one.

Comments about Jetboil Zip Stove:
Used the Jet-Boil on my first backpacking trip and wow did it boil the water fast. didn't take long for the water to be ready to pour into ready made meal packets. It practically cleans itself as long as you just boil water. One con was that when you buy the fuel canister that fits into the jet boil it doesn't close properly. when you follow the instructions on how to pack everything including the fuel the lid doesn't close, so i have to use some para-cord to tie it shut.also the jet-boil has only one setting, high. if you try to simmer; the flame will go out, otherwise its a must have.

Comments about Jetboil Zip Stove:
I have the original Jetboil Backcountry Gourmet which came with the 8" frying pan. I purchased mine from REI a few years ago, in 2009.
This Zip stove looks to be the closest to mine, with the thicker, opaque black rubber lid which fits tightly.
It is quick and packs up very well. You have to buy a small canister which will fit inside it. The standard 230 gram canisters do not fit inside it.
I think the clear lid, wire knob, regulator and temperature indicator are fine bonuses, but I'm fine with my design. I do not know how the clear lids fit/hold.
The indicator can in no way affect the system, so I don't know what the other guy is crying about, boo hoo! The lid on will be more efficient and heat faster and you can see steam coming out and tell when it's about to boil, but not exact in low temps. The indicator is better, well nicer.
For weight, size and speed this is a great stove.
I see advantages in detached fuel canisters connected by a hose, but this is still great.
I recommend the 1.5L pot as the 8" frying pan holds the same amount as the cup.
Get a companion cup.
I can see a bonus in the Sumo size too, especially IF (I don't know) the other Jetboil cups and/or 230g canister fit inside it.
