First day with these and felt they were worth a comment - I hike and needed a good long distance comfortable strong shoe - From reviews this won by a long shot -

First on in the store and I almost returned them - very high arch combined with rounded to outside soul felt very tippy - that feeling went away - They are also very tight -

Walked a few miles in them this morning and the large arch feels less of a problem - still there - but not uncomfortable - Perhaps I changed my stride because they felt less tippy - Still tight, but change in sox will help. The tightness now feels like more support than problem.

I will post next month when the shoes and I are done in Joshua Tree - the craftsmanship is great and the shoes feel very strong. Grip of the bottom flexes with things and seems to grab wet rocks very well.

A hard working shoe is many components and this shoe is great on quite a few of these levels. Thanks to REI for a great return program that lets me try these out before having to decide forever.

Would I recommend these to a friend - yes - I did and two friends are ordering theirs today based on my feeling that these will be great shoes.

Had to size up full size. Have hiked about 200 mi on AT with them. Good cushioning and protection. Shoe has very high arch which has proven to be a problem for my knee's and I've had to stop using them. If you use high arch shoes, these might work for you, but size up

Comments about La Sportiva Electron Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:

I live in Boise, where we have a fantastic network of rocky, sandy and fairly rugged trails in the foothills. I have put maybe 60-80 trail miles on these shoes and can say they are the best trail shoes I've ever owned.

I have unusually narrow feet, and these shoes are able to squeeze around them like a snug glove. If you have wide feet or a very low arch, these may or may not be as comfortable on you (I just don't know). I think my arch is low to average and at first I had a little arch pain with these. But the snug fit makes these shoes perfect for rocky trails since they stay firmly in place if I come down awkwardly on a stone. Traction and cushioning are fantastic for a shoe this light.
