Read More I've had this bag for about 6 months now. I've taken it on 13 day-hikes/trail runs and to Mongolia for 6 weeks this summer. While in the cities it was my daypack, and while in the mountains I used it as a stuffsack for my heavies to be centralized in my bigger pack. It works terribly well. Incredibly durable for a minimalist pack that stuffs into its own pocket. From stuffing it into another pack, under airplane seats, to the overhead compartment of a Russian city bus fitted with mud-tires for a 1400km ride across Mongolia it holds up even when not on my back. Another pro is the advantage of the small size - On my day hikes I find I've never brought anything I don't need. -

This was my first disapointment with their lines. I did return the product to REI and was refunded the purchase price WITHOUT question (yea REI)! -

Read More I bought this about 6 months ago as a bike commuting bag to carry my laptop and essentials. The compression straps help when it is lightly loaded (like with just my laptop and power cord). I just used it as a carry on and it carried two laptops and a large amount of clothing, about 3 shirts, two pants and a light shell jacket. This all weighed quite a bit and I was worried that the seams might give. However, I did not have a problem. The mesh pocket is good to keep items that you might want to see before you open the zipper (chapsticks, etc). The top pocket is perfect for things like boarding passes, passports, etc. I stowed my laptop (a thin 15 in Toshiba Protege) behind the foam pad (i.e. in the water bladder section) to allow me to access it easily when going through security. It worked perfectly. So, I give the bag perfect marks! -

Read More So, I technically own the standard Kompressor, but this is nearly the same. It is very light and the compression straps mean that it can pull double duty as a compression sack for a sleeping bag. I personally love that since it is still accomplishing something when not on my back. It needs to be packed right too. If you don't spread your items right, the compression straps will separate your gear into a right side and a left side. If one is much heavier or bulkier the pack can get uncomfortable. -

Read More I used this pack while guiding in NE oregon. I was in the middle of an 18 day backpacking trip and had to hike one of my kids out because she was sick and needed to go to the hospital. I hiked the kid out 6 miles one evening and handed her off to our support team. I went to pick her up the next day and she came back with a sleeping bag and some other extra gear that I wasn't planning on. I was just carrying the lid off of my pack and wasn't looking forward to holding her sleeping bag for 6 miles of snowy hiking. Fortunately one of the support staff had this pack and loaned it to me. It was great, I loaded it, and then strapped the bag to the outside. It definitely didn't carry like a frame pack, but it saved my bacon that day, and I didn't even notice it when I stuffed it in my main bag. I'm definitely planning on picking one up before I head out again. -

Read More Great pack. Love the external hydration/pad pocket. Feels well built. The 18L is a deceiving number. I grabbed some gear and did some comparison testing. I've crammed more things here than on my REI Flash 18, which I also own and love. In fact, I tested the North Face Verto 26, and I was able to get more things into this pack, despite the assumed lower volume. What I would prefer to see in future redesigns? Make the existing pocket smaller or get rid of it in favor of the traditional side pockets, and add some loops for attaching shock cord. Highly recommend it! -

Read More Great bag with nice features! Just as described. I have not had any problems with durability so far, but it's only been used about ten times with loads under 10 lbs. My only preference would be to have the mesh pocket be smaller, and have two open water bottle pockets on the side.
Read More I bought this bag for it's weight and advertised use as a climbing pack - I finally got a chance to lead with it and I was not pleased. For starters, the one day hike I used with it was miserable. With one layer, some snacks, and a nalgene I was unable to use the compression straps to tighten the load. As such, the carry of this bag was awful. Then, when I still gave it a fair shot and used it for leading, I was shocked to find that the shoulder straps have quick release mechanisms. The last thing I want when I'm struggling up a chimney or laybacking in a diahedral is to bump one of these straps and have the pack fly off my back. Also, as mentioned above, the pack loads so poorly that no matter how I adjusted it the pack hung below my harness. I think this bag might be good for casual outdoorsmen who aren't using it for any technical application. Otherwise, it's just too uncomfortable and poorly designed.
