I headed out to the East Coast to hike the 250 miles I skipped on the AT from Hot Springs, NC to about 60 miles north of Damascus, VA. I averaged just over 27 miles/day. So, I think it's fair to say I put these puppies to the test. The only two negative things I have to report is that the laces seem to consistently come undone (yes, I tried multiple tying techniques) and the way the heel is designed it completely ate my achilles/heel area...the heel design is too high and created some nasty blisters. If you're not doing big miles it might not be an issue with the laces and if you're use to a high heel then it shouldn't be a problem. I've been wearing Brooks running shoes for years on my thru-hikes and they have a much lower profile. With that said, I can honestly say that take away my two complaints and these shoes are bomb proof. I was very impressed with how they handled the heavy rain in several thunderstorms and all GTX shoes are going to sweat but these seemed to breathe quite well. The traction was fantastic and they are very light weight. They are not stiff at all, so no breaking in period is required. Except for the heel blister issue I did not have one other blister with these shoes, which is amazing considering I didn't do all that much training before I left. Also, after 250 miles these shoes had very little breakdown, meaning they were still like new. Overall I was impressed but will not be buying North Face trail shoes again.

Tried a pair of North Face Double Track out this weekend. Excellent cushioning and pronation control, fit well on my flat, narrow feet. Unfortunately two problems are preventing me from keeping these shoes. The heel is excessively built up, such that you feel the heel strike forcing your foot into position even when attempting to midfoot strike. Also these do not vent well. My feet were burning up after only 3 miles on pavement. Have not taken these on the trail and will not be, as I will be returning.

These are my go-to every day kicks that double as my trail runners/lightweight hikers. I recently took up trail running since moving to the Northwest, and I've gotta say, my feet have never been happier. Water resistance makes them easy to clean the mud off. TNF definitely hit a homerun with these. I seriously want to buy a couple more pair for when these wear out (if they ever do). I've had mine for 6 months, worn almost every day, plus a couple runs/hikes per week, and you can barely tell. Tread still looks brand new and it seems like the entire shoe is scuff resistant. The only con I can think of is the price tag, but if they last a full year at my current usage level, I have no complaints.

i use these for work and they are perfect. i walk around 12-15 miles a day and the feet have never felt so good and the goretex is nice when it rains. they are very true to size also. i am very happy with these shoes.
