Comments about Gregory Maya 18 Pack - Women's:
This is a good-sized pack. It holds my 3-liter Platypus Hydration Bladder, and still has room for a light jacket, lunch, and a few other essentials.
It's very comfortable on my petite 5'1" frame, and the hip padding is in just the perfect place! The nylon webbing of the belt can be stuffed into a little pocket on the hip padding if you don't want to use it.
The 'black' of the Black Orchid is a much prettier dark grey in person.
Two things would make this perfect for me: 1) the zipper openings would come down further, making it easier to access the nice roomy interior. 2) The odd 'media' pocket at the top would be eliminated and the interior would start higher up on the pack.
I really like how the tops of the shoulder straps and the hip belt moves & flexes with you. It will make this a perfect pack for me to use while biking or skating outside.
I'm petite and have a short torso, and this pack fits me perfectly! Women who are significantly taller than me should be careful and try this pack on in person before buying.

Comments about Gregory Maya 18 Pack - Women's:
My sister gave me this pack since I've got a small frame (5'3") and have had a surprisingly hard time finding a truly comfortable day pack. This one is great; lightweight and really comfortable, even on extended hikes. I had no trouble packing a rain jacket, lunch, water, and extra snacks (and there's room to spare). Love the waist strap pockets -- great for sunscreen and a small point and shoot camera. I intend to use it daily on an extended photo and dive trip to the Florida Keys later this summer.

Comments about Gregory Maya 18 Pack - Women's:
Being only 5' tall it's been hard to find a daypack to fit me. I've now found it. The mesh pockets are even big enough for my nalgene bottles. It has the padded waist belt I've been looking for. I'm a very happy day hiker now.

Comments about Gregory Maya 18 Pack - Women's:
I was looking for a pack that could work as both a day hiking bag and something water resistant that I could use for commuting to work by bike - this is the perfect pack! While it does NOT fit a 15" laptop (the pack isn't wide enough at the top), I bring a 10" laptop to work, and with a puffy laptop case and the wall charger there's still a ton of room to spare. There are also so many compartments for wallets, keys, etc. that I don't have to put anything besides papers and my laptop in the main compartment. This bag is also incredibly light and very well padded for such a small bag. I'm 5'6" and about 120 lbs and it fits my frame perfectly - it can also strap on tight so that it doesn't bounce at all when I'm biking (I might even use this for running to work). I should mention that although this pack IS water resistant, in the rain I would recommend putting it in a dry bag for commutes by bike anyway (because of sensitive electronics).

Comments about Gregory Maya 18 Pack - Women's:
I am 5'4" and had a tough time finding a day pack that was comfortable, lightweight, and that could fit a good amount of gear. This bag was perfect! It is extremely comfortable on the shoulders and around the back. Gregory did a really great job designing this day pack for a women's frame. The material is also great quality. I had originally purchased a Camelbak, but returned it (bad fit for my petite size). I purchased the black ink color, which is nicer than it appears in the photo. I've used this to carry my laptop and light clothing as a city commuter. I also plan to take it on the 4-day Inca trail hike (we will have porters to carry other items).

Fantastic pack to strap on for an impromptu run home from work. Holds a lot and stays tight to your body w/o moving around. Straps are phenomenal and adjust to your individual fit! Love it!

Comments about Gregory Maya 18 Pack - Women's:
I love this lightweight little pack. I'm petite (15" torso, 27" waistband), and it sits very well on my frame. It expands to fit my camera (DSLR), extra lens, tablet, small water bladder, extra water, light jacket, granola bars, pen and journal in the main and side compartments, and lip balm, cards, cash, keys, dog bags and phone in the waist band and "media" pockets. There's also a little velcro attach-y thingie on one shoulder strap that I usually use to keep my water hose mouthpiece easily accessible. The pack is well balanced, launders easily, and is nicely rugged, especially the zippers.
I initially bought it as a minimalist day-pack and biking backpack. I've since also used it for urban day-trips, work, bouldering and hiking with my dog, sleepovers, an emergency gym bag, beach trips, car camping, etc. Its incredible utility is the reason I'm strongly leaning towards a full-sized Gregory travel backpack. Between the two, I'll should be set for almost all travel.
My only (minor) gripe is that I would like for the the zippers on the main compartment to come down an inch or two more so I don't have to wrestle my camera in and out of the pack. Other than that, the entire pack is very well thought out.

Comments about Gregory Maya 18 Pack - Women's:
I bought this for my 7 yr old daughter for overnight hiking. That was my fault. The pack is definitely a day pack. LOVE the options on it. A lot of configurations and a loop that if you pull it I have no idea what it does (but I am pretty sure it was a good thing). However it is smaller than I thought (again my fault) and I had to trade it in for a bigger one. Definitely a well made pack though. The only thing I would of liked to of seen on it was straps on the bottom to strap things exterenally ( like a hiking air mattress)

Comments about Gregory Maya 18 Pack - Women's:
My old day pack had the right size, wide and short, but not enough compartments, and no water packets. It is hard to fetch things from my old day pack. Since it's short enough, I can wear my half-moon shaped camera bag around my waist, below my day pack. Gone are those days when I could find read-to-wear stuff that fit me. Nowadays everything is so long. Gregory Maya is longer than my old pack. But it probably is the shortest you can find in today's market. (It took me three days to search the internet.) It is a bit too small. But I managed to squeeze in all the essentials, which include: wool gloveswool hatparkathin jacketcashmere sweatergoose down vestsandwich boxI have a $5 24 oz bottle from [@]. It fits in the side pocket. I can buy another bottle, then carry 6 cups of water. The bottle does not fall out when I bend down. I probably will not be able to fetch the bottle myself, since I shortened the strap, and there is barely enough room for my arm to move. But I always hike with my husband. He can grab my bottle and give it to me. At least I don't have to grope all over my pack for water.I am not using any of the inner pocket. The outside has a mesh pocket which I use for my parka. The top has a small pocket which I can use for toilet paper, whistle, chap stick. But it's too small to even store a granola bar. I give it 4 because it is not perfect. I wish it was wider, shorter, with a bit more capacity. But in today's world, this is the best a petite woman can find. By the way, I can carry my camera under this Mayo pack. But since it is longer than my old pack, my camera bag sits on my buttock. I hope it does not make me clumsy in climbing or descending. If someday I can find a CONVENIENT way to carry my camera inside the pack, I probably will buy a bigger bag and not worry about how long it is. But I doubt it will happen.
