[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our third Gregory Pack! I got this one for my son who wanted a day pack that was lightweight and included some specific features. He wanted pockets on the hip belt and a spot to stow his sunglasses. He has done two pretty serious day hikes with his new Citro - 9 and 12 miles. His verdict - the pack is so comfortable and lightweight that he hardly notices that he's wearing it. The pack is roomy enough for all his gear - extra clothing, camera equipment, and snacks. He loves that he can store his important stuff in the hip belt pack, and everything is easy to access. The hydration bladder is very easy to clean and hang up to dry, which is another useful feature. His only minor complaints - the zippered portion of the hip pockets are too small for his big hands, and the clip on the sternum strap is to small. These are minor details and in no way dealbreakers. This is an awesome pack. We have always been happy with Gregory products, and this is just another example of a fantastic design.
I received this pack in exchange for a review - that aside, I tried to be as unbiased as possible. You can find my full review on Dirtbag Dreams, but here are the cliff notes. For a month, this pack accompanied me in a variety of adventures from short fishing trips to summit pushes; I used it almost every day. The things I liked the most were the huge main compartment, the comfort and style, and the hydration pack. The main compartment is HUGE and more reminiscent of a rope bag than a day pack. You can stuff it full, but if you do it limits use of the outer pockets; try to refrain from stuffing it to the gills. Check out the picture of the Tenba insert for an idea of how large it is. I'm not normally big on style, but the spark orange version just looks snazzy. Additionally, it is a super comfortable pack to carry - even when stuffed full. The wide hip-belts help tremendously with distributing the load which is essential for steep hikes. The hydration pack is essential and eliminates the need to carry water bottles for day hikes; if you are doing light overnights, you can just bring a filter system. The biggest complaint about this bag is the lack of smaller "organizational" pockets. I typically like to have many small pockets to put all the loose things one collects; however, the ones Gregory has provided are too small. The top zippered pocket is almost too small for anything useful, and the interior mesh pocket suffers from the same issues. There are hip-belt pockets, but they are the standard size: small. I got around this by bringing organizational systems that I could put in the big compartment, but it would be a nice change for the next version. That... is pretty much my only complaint. The pack is very comfortable to carry which means I used it often, and the quality of everything is apparent at first touch. The hydration pack is essential and well thought out. I covered many more things in my full review, so check that out on Dirtbag Dreams if you get a chance. Over, I recommend it; 4.5 stars!
My first "real" backpacking pack was a green Gregory; so I was pleased to receive this green Citro for review. Out of the gate, there were many familiar aspects to this pack that I think speak to Gregory's high production quality including: solid buckle and clip plastics, really nice shoulder and hip straps, good durable fabric, a comfortable padding/ suspension system, and lots of cool storage features (more on that below). I used this for several day walks and hikes, with the longest being about 7 miles on varying terrain. Fit, adjustments: All of the pieces are here for the pack to be very comfortable, but it will take a little time to dial in the main adjustments points. Being a fairly average height and weight, I was surprised it took me at least 15-20 minutes to properly adjust the shoulder, and hip straps. Initially the sternum strap seemed to be far too high, but I later realized it is essentially on "tracks" that make it easy for you adjust up and down. Once dialed in, I barely felt it with a full 4L of water, extra layers, and gear! Packing, loading: I will say I was really impressed with the Gregory 3D Hydro system. It is my first time using it, and you can tell it was designed to work flawlessly with the Citro pack. It holds 3 liters, has a great carrying handle and drying hook, and just seems more solid and intentional than other water reservoirs I own. It clips firmly into the compartment closest to your back and stays there. The center zipper opens up to your main storage area where I was able to fit more than enough stuff items for a long day hike. I carried 2 extra layers including a thick water proof shell, snacks, flashlight, etc. You could probably stretch this to an overnight or weekend pack if you had a very compact tent or hammock and sleeping bag. Use: As mentioned above, once I made all adjustments, this pack was awesome to hike with. It didn't slide around, it didn't leave any pressure points or lead to fatigue. The sunglasses holder feature (pictured) is great if you live somewhere like me that has a lot of dense forest sections as well as sunny clear ares. I also really liked the two hip belt pockets as I was able to keep training treats for my dogs in one, and my phone/ pocket knife in the other. I was not crazy about the tube retention magnet system as despite my best efforts, it seemed to barely hold the bite valve in place. Part of this may because the tube exits on the left of the bladder, and then crosses over the right shoulder and down the right strap--so perhaps the tension was was causing it to pop off? Ultimately this was the only feature during use that really bothered me. Conclusion: Overall, I think many people will be very pleased with this pack. It is a really comfortable day hike package with an awesome water system, and I think it will hold up for a long time. The only reason I did not give this a 5 star review primarily comes down to getting it fit right being an average size, the water tube crossing the back of the body, and the weird bite valve magnet. These are not big things by any means, and I would certainly recommend the Citro if you are looking for a new day pack!

This bag is everything everyone says it is! It’s awesome and the go to bag for day hiking. I literally stopped looking for other systems after the first hike I took it on with the family. The way the bag integrates the bladder and sits on your back is awesome. Literally took it out for a 4, 8.5, and then 15 mile hikes in the first week and no complaints. You’ve still got well designed pouches on the sides if you want to use bottles so I just put an extra 1 liter in each in addition to the 3L bladder. Then the back has a buckle to open and stuff sack pouch on the outside which was awesome for snacks for kids to grab while we kept moving or bug spray/rain jacket. 10/10 would recommend this!
When I decided to invest in a good quality hiking backpack, I started researching different brands to make sure I find the perfect bag for me and my husband. I can't begin to tell you how amazing the Juno and Citro bags are!!!!!! First, I absolutely love the universal measurements for men and women, you dont need to worry about this at all! the fit was perfect for both me and my husband. the straps are adjustable at the hip, shoulder and back making it perfect for everyone. I decided to go with the 30L because I needed a bag I can use for any sort of hiking no matter the length or difficulty of the hike The size was perfect, I can put all my essentials and still have room if I ever decided on taking extra things, like a towel, water shoes or even extra clothes the weight difference between the 30L and smaller size was not that significant to me. They really thought about every detail on this bag!!! you have a place to set your sunglasses, and your poles which was amazing!!! i didnt feel the weigh of the poles on me at all the bag comes with a water bladder which was a plus!! the bladder was amazing, we had no issues with it at all, no leaking and easy to clean. We hiked at Mt Rainier and it held great, there were some rainy days and the bag held it self well, it's not water proof (they dont claim it is) so I do recommend getting a raincover but the insides werent soaking with water. I love this bag so much and I do recommend it to anyone! amazing bag!
I need to preface this review by stating I am not a backpacking expert and have just recently started to go on hikes that require more gear, thus how I ended up with this marvelous product. I had been researching online a good backpack, wasn't even considering the hydration pack option, just a simple(ish) backpack. While I was still in the research stages, I ended up being contacted about writing reviews in exchange for a Citro 30 H2O. I jumped at the opportunity and I now have a better backpack than I knew I wanted! The idea of having an added hydration pack is a wonderful bonus! Water bottles can present various challenges while hiking, biking, or doing other activities- so hands free hydration is better than I imagined it would be! The hydration system is easy to use, simple to clean, and holds a generous amount of water. All of that AND it is not uncomfortable! My biggest concern with this backpack was the amount of straps (though I understand they are intended to give comfort, I had not experienced this previously). The straps on this backpack are perfectly placed so it gives the whole load a lighter feeling. The waist straps are adjustable and have small pockets on the strap to hold the extra strap length or some little items- this is a REALLY cool feature to me. This backpack is WAY more than a means of carrying hydration! It has 10 different sized pockets including the one that holds the water. There are small pockets, there are many easy to access pockets, and there are a couple more hidden pockets. The only thing that I would note as different, not necessarily bad in this case, is that the color blue is much darker in person than what shows on my computer screen. The color blue it IS, is very nice :) Overall, I am extremely happy with this product! If you are new to backpacking and are not sure if you want the addition of a hydration element, I say go for it! This is a great product and I have no hesitations about using it every time I hike.
Been using Gregory Citro H2O 30 for 2+ weeks, with three trips, two mountain hikes with 15+ miles, 4000 feet+ elevation gain, and one regular city terrain walk. From all perspective this is by far the best dayhike pack I have ever owned. Simply no negative bullets I would give, the following are the good characteristics I have realized: Space: the pack offers plenty of room, sufficient main and side pockets. My old packs were very limited over the compartment for water bladder, this one however, even after you fill in the bladder completely full, there is still lots of room over the bladder compartment, that still allows you to put more stuff. Multiple pockets really help your trip to be better "organized", i.e. I tend to arrange the main one for my mid-day lunch bag, and I could even fit in additional energy drink and fruit! On side pockets, there would be frequently used energy bites, snacks, and maps plus hand sanitizers/sunscreen cream. Very convenient during a long trip, and especially beneficial while we are still in the Covid pandemic period. Comfort: I extremely lover the suspension, and the ventilation system from your back with tons of holes. On one of my trips the weather was unusually hot (86 degree in January) with strong sunshine. Of course I sweated heavily, however, I did not feel any uncomfortable around my back area or super wet, all thanks to the great air flow still going around over the ventilation system. When I put on the pack, shoulder, side straps are easy to tight, adjust - the more I use it the more I feel this would be just a "mini version" of Gregory Baltoro, which has already earned its fame over the years. The waist belt touches my body gently and evenly, without leaving any painful "marks" after long time of tightening. External support: as just said, all straps pretty much functions similarly to Baltoro, I was able to tighten and strengthen the entire pack according to amount of stuff I put in. External straps help to carry more stuff, such as bottle, or heavier gears like trekking poles, crampons/spikes etc. Very beautiful exterior appearance too, look into the picture below where I had it over the middle way of my trips on the trail, and over the mountain tops. Strongly recommend this pack to anyone doing serous, especially long distance (12 mile + maybe) day hikes.
This bag is exactly what I was looking for! Supremely comfortable carrying ~20lb on a 17 mile/4400ft elevation hike. All of the features are thoughtful and the hydration reservoir is second to none.
This was my first Gregory and I was really excited to try this pack out. Gregory is a well respected name in packs and I hike basically every weekend but this pack was a disappointment overall. I do like the way the packs storage compartments are set up but the suspension system is not nearly as comfortable as my other packs. What REALLY drives me nuts are the zippers! They are not smooth and almost feel like they get stuck on the fabric but they aren’t binding at all. Just poor quality and poor design. Gregory might make some good stuff but I won’t be wasting my money on any of its packs again. There are plenty of other great brands for the same price point that make much much better packs.
