I bought these for an XTerra 15K. I trained in them on mixed road and trail. The upper is flimsy and my feet feel like they're moving around too much in the shoe, but if I try to cinch up the laces, the shoes are too tight across the top of my foot, and the seams on the outside of the ball of my foot rub on my foot.
Also for trail shoes, the mesh upper lets in a ton of sand, rocks and debris, so if I run on trails, I get a ton of stuff in my shoes. I've had Salomon shoes in the past that I was happy with, these not so much.
They are lightweight though, so they may work well in hot weather, if you avoid sandy trails they might work well.

Last year I had the Salomon XA Comp-Gortex, they were great for walking/running on even terrain, but not so good for loose and uneven terrain probably because I have a high arch and tend to supinate. The only issue I have with these shoes is that they're not available with GTX yet.

Bought 1/2 size smaller than normal and they fit great! The sides do feel a bit high, but once the run starts, the uncomfortable feeling disappears fast. I initially went for a GTX shoe, but walked out with these in hand. It's breakup season here and these shoes are very forgiving in the mud and snowmelt, so I'm extremely happy with my choice in these shoes.

I am a fitness instructor and trainer. Wearing these shoes is like walking on marshmellows!!!
They are soooo comfortable, light weight and yet supportive. I wear them 5 days a week and have no discomfort in my feet at the end of the day!
If they came in another color i would purchase another pair!

I do lots of trail walking in the San Gabriel Mountains. These shoes were comfortable from the start. I like the quick lacing system because my shoes stay tied the way I want from the start. They are lightweight, yet sturdy. Thanks mum for thr great birthday present.
