Comments about Light & Motion Vis 180 Rear Bike Light:
Yes, this light is very bright, but that's about it. It doesn't flash, which in my opinion is what gets drivers' attention. It just dims and brightens and the difference between dim and bright is so little, it mostly just looks like a steady light. I wanted to mount it on the back of a panier rack, but it's not meant to go on something horizontal unless you put it sideways. If you did put it sideways, the side amber lights would be pointing downward and upward and be useless, but the amber side lights are so weak they are pretty much useless anyway. This is just not worth the high price.

Comments about Light & Motion Vis 180 Rear Bike Light:
I've been using the Planet Bike Superflash for three years now, and it's time to retire the Superflash. The Light & Motion(L&M) Vis 180 is incredibly bright. The only taillights I've seen that could even compare to the Vis 180 are the DiNotte taillight systems and maybe the older NiteRider Universal Taillight system, both costing more than the L&M Vis 180. Check out the L&M website and click BEAM TEST for the Vis 180. The sample photo L&M uses to compare it's Vis 180 to the Superflash is accurate and not just a long photo exposure to enhance its brightness, the Vis 180 really is that bright. Other nice features are the glove friendly on/off switch and the locking pivot clip that allows for 7 different angle positions. Nice build quality compliments this light as well.

Comments about Light & Motion Vis 180 Rear Bike Light:
It only has two tiny LED's peeking out from small holes in a red reflective strip, but they are extremely bright and offer more than 180 degrees of visibility. The light and bracket feels very sturdy, one drawback though is you have to set the bracket to the flush position to remove the light. The amber light always flashes, I would prefer if it could be set to steady. The red light either pulses with maximum brightness, a dimmer bightness, on steady, or off (with the amber light blinking). I would like to see a dim steady for the red, but these are petty complaints. The charge indicator is four-stage, better than any I've seen on headlights. If you need a bright tail light, consider this one!

Comments about Light & Motion Vis 180 Rear Bike Light:
Here is another great L and Motion product!
Now, it will not blind those behind you. But, it is bright! It's not Di Notte 200 lumens bright, but it is bright enough for most!
I got rid of my battery powered Cateye Tailight for this beauty.
I like it a lot. Just holding in your hand, you can see and feel the superior L amd M design and manufacture.
Yes, it does flash. Yes, the red light is piercing.
This one is a beauty.
I use for mountain biking. This is a must if you roadbike.
Lightweight too.
Only possible drawback is the mount. Could be more secure.
A great product!

Comments about Light & Motion Vis 180 Rear Bike Light:
this is a great rear bike light. ignore the reviews that state L&M should've made the light with a rapid flash. studies have shown that when it's dark, it is easier for motorists to determine the distance between themselves and a cyclist with a steady or slow-strobing rear bike light. when i commute in the morning, i set it to steady on. when i commute home (still some daylight), i set it to slow-strobe. i ride with others in the morning and this rear light is the best i've seen compared to common rear lights such as the planet bike superflash (which i love and still use attached to the seatstay). sure, it's a little pricey, but it is worth it!

Comments about Light & Motion Vis 180 Rear Bike Light:
I've had this for a year and it is by far the best taillight I have found. Very bright and battery still is long-lasting. I mostly ride trails and use it a lot in Chicago winters, so it endures the worst of condtions. My only complaint is the quick-release which stopped working within days--cheap plastic which cannot stand-up to trail grime and salt. Not a big deal as I just remove the entire unit

Comments about Light & Motion Vis 180 Rear Bike Light:
Even as a driver, I find strobe lights annoying more than safe. The Vis 180's fading super powerful LED and wide beam pattern are eye-catching and help pinpoint the biker, which is hard sometimes with high rate flashing lights.
The pathway mode turns only the side markers, which is a nice feature for when you ride in a pack. And every light should have a low battery indicator. The Vis 180 has three steps: green, amber and red.
I've seen other riders using this light and the amber side lights are a lot more visible and helpful than what it seems when you hold the light on your hands.

Comments about Light & Motion Vis 180 Rear Bike Light:
My wife and I like to ride the tandem before work, which puts us in the dark for 30 - 45 minutes. I bought this light to use with a NiteRider MiNewt 250 headlight, which is also an excellent light. As it turns out, I am now using the Vis 180 all of the time as a daytime running light since it so incredibly bright. It does not flash, but the pulse mode draws plenty of attention. I think a flash mode would irritate drivers because the light is so bright. They are already irritated enough around here.
The Vis 180 comes with a frame mounting system and a micro USB cable. The mounting system uses a rubber strap that can be mounted to any part of the frame. It is very secure. The strap is marked to cut off the excess if you don't plan to move it to other bikes or larger parts of the frame. There is also a clip on the light that can be used with seat bags, trunks bags, belts, etc. The loop on our Topeak seat bag is thicker than the tightest setting on the Vis 180's clip, so I did a little surgery to separate the loop's layers and it works fine.
Instructions are not very informative on the packaging, but you can view a video on their website that tells you everything you need to know about the light. So far I am very pleased with the light and plan to leave it on the tandem for use all of the time, in daylight or dark.
Service and delivery comments:
I am always very impressed with the free shipping for REI members. If I order on Monday or even Tuesday, the item typically arrives by Thursday.

Comments about Light & Motion Vis 180 Rear Bike Light:
Super bright, and versatile. I use this on my bike. And when I have my child with me, it clips nicely to my chariot trailer. My wife also clips it to her belt on night walks. At night, the only light I really use is the amber blinking mode, its bright enough. Couldnt be happier with the perfomance.

Comments about Light & Motion Vis 180 Rear Bike Light:
This light is absolutely the best tail light I've purchased, one of my favorite features is that when I get to work I pull the USB cable out of my bag and plug the light into my computer to charge! This is my first Light and Motion product and it won't be my last!
