Comments about CatEye TL-LD 570 Reflex Auto Rear Bike Light:
The brightness is average but will not wow you except in the dead center of the beam. Definitely bright enough for good visibility at night, but will not grab attention from a half mile like some other new lights can. The angle of good visibility is very wide.
The weakness with the mounting hardware is that the 2 nuts for the rack bracket are nylon. Those pieces could be replaced by the user with standard metal locknuts and matching bolts for a bomb-proof installation. The seat post mount is identical to the ones I have been using with earlier CatEyes for about 15 years which have been rock-solid, even with off-road use on a hardtail mountain bike. My lights have never fallen off, gotten loose, or gotten jolted or bumped out of adjustment. Impressive.
The motion sensor works well. The light sensor activates the light at the beginning of twilight. I prefer to be able to run my lights in daylight. It would be simple enough to defeat the light sensor by covering it with tape, if desired. The switch is very firm and must be held down for a second to turn on or off.
Aside from the Auto feature, the light is good but not outstanding. The auto feature is valuable insurance against forgetting to turn it on. I'd like to see Auto on more lights. This is a light you could mount on the bikes of your kids or spouse and know they will be protected even if they never think about turning it on or off. That is the killer application for this product. Let's face it: if you buy a light and install it, you are safety-conscious enough to turn it on manually when you ride. It's the people that would never buy it that would benefit most from the Auto feature. I am giving it 5 stars for the unique and valuable auto feature. Without auto, it would be 3-4 stars.
Because of the reflector, it also provides some visibility if the light is not working (dead batteries, switched off, etc.). Also available in a white front light version so you could install passive protection all around.

Comments about CatEye TL-LD 570 Reflex Auto Rear Bike Light:
The mount to attach this light to a rack is horrible. It has plastic self-tapping nuts and metal screws, so it's impossible to tighten and it won't last. The seat post mount looks OK, but the rack mount is useless.
You can't simply turn this light on. It only has Off and Automatic. So if traffic is crazy or the day is overcast and you want to turn on your safety light, you can't. And you can't adjust the light sensor. I commute pre-dawn and sometimes this thing won't stay on, and the sun isn't really even up yet!

Comments about CatEye TL-LD 570 Reflex Auto Rear Bike Light:
Good, versatile mounting. Looked really elegant on the rear rack (even some riders who think reflectors are uncool might agree). The reflector, with US & overseas market approvals, sends more light back than any of the other light/reflector combos out there. That was the good news. The light output was a major surprise and disappointment, both in brightness and light distribution. The "bright central light" was a tightly focused spot. With not much light elsewhere. Think about it- auto & motorcycle taillights are not spot beams. Way substandard compared to even one LED on the TL-LD 610. A disappointment compared to the 10 year old VistaLite Nebula 5 it was meant to replace.
Some of the attention lavished on trick flashing schemes should have gone into light output.
Never did get to try the light/motion sensor.

Comments about CatEye TL-LD 570 Reflex Auto Rear Bike Light:
For with this device, the manufacturer decided to use one button for everything: power on/off, 5 different flashing modes, special store demo mode. It is a pain to turn on/off without changing some other setting. This model also has a daylight sensor and movement sensor that can't be adjusted. I would prefer to have a simple on/off button period. It is nice to have the choice of flashing modes, but that could be a setting located under the removal lens - how often will you change this? I dislike the daylight sensor, as I prefer to have a flashing tail light at all times on the busy roads, even during daylight hours. I dislike the motion sensor, because if I am stopped waiting at a traffic light at night, I do not want the light to turn off. I do not have a problem remembering to turn off the light at the end of the ride. LEDs do not use much power. My life is worth changing the batteries a few more times, if that is what it takes to be a little safer.

Comments about CatEye TL-LD 570 Reflex Auto Rear Bike Light:
When looking at this light head on it simply looks amazing. It has a very large area that is very visible. The patterns are very attractive and make me feel that I wont get hit by a car, unless someone just doesn't like me. However, when you point the light at a wall, there isn't much illumination going on. I compared it with my PDW Superflash 1000 and the light from the Cateye was completely blocked out. I think the combination of the two will do just fine and make my wife feel safer about my commutes. The large flashy patterns definitely draws attention; you just can't use it as a flash light.

Comments about CatEye TL-LD 570 Reflex Auto Rear Bike Light:
All descriptions by CatEye says and shows a rear rack mount is included. Therefore adaptable to recumbents as well as seat post bikes. One can use it for motion activated daylight use by placing black tape over the light sensor inside the battery case. Very convenient for safe riding on rural roads with lots of shadows.[...]

Comments about CatEye TL-LD 570 Reflex Auto Rear Bike Light:
Light has great visibility especially off-center with multiple flash patterns. I use this for city commuting year round. It outperforms other rear lights I've used because of the reflector which allows greater side visibility in traffic than other lights that are typically best when viewed straight on.
The auto on function is a bit finnicky and I use the on/off button manually.

Comments about CatEye TL-LD 570 Reflex Auto Rear Bike Light:
A super bright light and the reflector makes it legal. I often ride with panniers so I can only attach a light or reflector to the rear of my rack. This single unit satisfies both the legal requirement for a reflector, plus adds the extra safety of a bright flashing light. Comes with several options for mounting, including a rack bracket - perfect for my application. The light turns on and off automatically based on the ambient light level and the motion of the bike. No more dead batteries because I forgot to turn it off.
