Comments about Shimano 105 PD-5700 SPD-SL Pedals:
I moved from Mountain Bike Cleats/Shoes to a Road Bike Pedal/Shoes because I was getting a hot spot in my left foot using the smaller cleats shoe attachment surface.
The new pedals/cleats provide a larger platform and the hot spot has disappeared. I can now easily go three hours using these Cleats/Pedals where I would need to take more breaks off the bicycle Pedals using the MTB Style cleats.
I could have tried a one sided platform pedal alternating with the MTB Cleats, but ability to make round circles and bicycle with more efficiency instead of changing to the non-cleat side and back again helped me decide.
I traded the ability to walk easily in my MTB shoes for the solid ride platform of the Road Bike Pedal/Shoes that lets me ride farther with less foot distraction...
I find the engagement and disengagement of the different cleats from the pedals require about the same effort.

Comments about Shimano 105 PD-5700 SPD-SL Pedals:
Not only do I commute to and from work, but I also cycle avidly around parks. The 105 pedal set is simple to install on both the bike and shoes. The adjustability of the clips (force needed to clip-out) is what I like the most because of my weak ankles. Excellent investment whithout a single negative

Comments about Shimano 105 PD-5700 SPD-SL Pedals:
I had Crank Brothers Candy pedals that came with my Road Bike. The CB Candy pedals are nice pedals but after having some issues with hot spots and my feet going numb, I decided to get traditional Road Pedals.
The Shimano 105 pedals are nice pedals which alleviated some of the issues that I was having. But, I did have some issues with the pedals. One pedal continued to Click and it was driving me nuts.
I relubed the pedals and the clicking would not go away
So i returned them. The Pedals are nice but I just experienced some issues but I would still recommend

Comments about Shimano 105 PD-5700 SPD-SL Pedals:
After using toe clips on my road bike for about 6 months, I decided it was time to try clipless pedals. I'm so glad I did, and I will never ride without them again. The Shimano 105's were a perfect entry-level pedal: not too expensive, but also easy to use. The system was really easy to adjust to, and I have yet to fall over or be unable to unclip when I needed to. The only thing I've had trouble with is clipping in since the pedal is only one-sided, but it just took some getting used to.
I'm using them to commute and for club cycling this summer, and I couldn't be more excited to ride my bike.
