Comments about Outdoor Products Power Pack Glide Daypack:
I wish the interior had a lighter color so that it is easier to see what is inside
It is really easy to take out your laptop at the airport screening.

I used this backpack to carry my laptop and other electronic devices while traveling by air. The backpack fits nicely in the overhead compartments on the aircraft.
The padded handle on top of the harness makes handling the weight in the backpack a breeze.

Comments about Outdoor Products Power Pack Glide Daypack:
I bought this at REI back in March 2011 before I went to Sweden. I've carried this bag every single day since then and it still looks brand new. The organization in the front/outside pocket is extreme. It has a slot for a flash drive (big enough to fit my Super Talent Express RAM cache), 4 more mini-pockets for things like a camera, mouse, a cable lock, or whatever else you want to bring, and three pen pockets that I keep a pen, Pogo Sketch Pro, and window breaker in. That one pocket keeps me super-organized with all my digital gear.
The lower back pocket is where I kept my passport, and there is a pocket built into one of the straps which I kept spare cash in.
the side pockets are spacious, and you can still fit a 32oz nalgene bottle in the mesh pockets when the sides are stuffed full.
The main cavity is definitely big enough for a few text books, but I usually keep 1L of water, an REI compact umbrella and a Hiker first aid kit (overkill... but I have the room).
The loop design for the hanging loop WORKS. A friend tried to snatch this bag off my back and failed miserably.
The laptop compartment and it's built-in sleeve is slick for getting through the lame TSA checks a little less painlessly, too. It's easy to slide the pocket out for inspection and back in when you reach the end.
My entire bag weighs in at almost 15lbs with my iPad in it, and I can easily carry it around all day. My back can get a little sweaty, but the foam is pretty good at keep you cool and comfortable.

I've researched dozens of different backpacks and have owned many. My latest need was for a pack that was small and light for airline travel, provided storage for lots of tech gear, and had enough room for a nights worth of clothes in a pinch.
This pack fits that bill 100% and is less then half the cost of other bags I was looking it. appears well made and very well designed. It's nice looking and subtle enough to work for a business backpack in al black. After years of messenger bags I'm now going back to backpacks because of this bag.
The larger PowerPack get's all the reviews, but if you can get by with a few less things in your pack, this is the one to get.

Comments about Outdoor Products Power Pack Glide Daypack:
The laptop is contained in a mesh compartment with a handle, and quick release buckles that keep it from separating from the rest of the pack, great for the pain of TSA... Expletive...
I wouldn't want to use it for other purposes than carrying a laptop, even though it does have decent side pockets for water bottles and other quick access items. Has a few smaller compartments, the lined glasses one is great because it is on the outside, top. Has a small of the back padded pouch good for hiding passport or wallet that is protected from razor blade thieves. I've been using mine for a year and it is holding up well. My wife borrowed it and decided she wanted one too.

Comments about Outdoor Products Power Pack Glide Daypack:
I am definitely a bag collector - of all my gear I collect far more backpacks than anything else. I probably have 15 backpacks for all different uses - some get a lot more use than others - but despite them all, I've been looking for a good commuting backpack for years - one that fits everything comfortably and securely, without too much extra volume, organizes well enough that I don't need to dig to China to find my pens or powercords, and looks good enough to bring into work. I think I've found it with this backpack.
Just having transferred all my work stuff into this bag from my old one - a North Face Chatter - I find this organizes far better, even though the volume is less. It also fits much better on my torso, as it is not a long bag and I'm 5'7. My previous commute bag, a Deuter Futura 28, was great for bike commuting, as the airflow system would really keep the sweat from building up, but wouldn't fit my new 17" macbook pro without a struggle, and really limited my ability to hold other gear. Here, everything I could expect fits just perfectly, and there are other design features that really seem to make this bag stand out for the commuter.
The top of the shoulder straps features a handle grip, which is really very solid to grab onto and I'm surprised how improved this makes moving it around when it's off my back. The padding on the back feels great, but is not excessive. The water bottle pockets didn't look deep enough to hold my kleen kanteen thermos, but in fact work great. Best of all, there are pockets for everything, including a special felt-lined one for sunglasses, which makes an organizational freak like me happy. There are even a couple of pockets on the shoulder straps and one in the lumbar area for god knows what. I will have fun finding out.
The laptop organization is where this bag seems to really stand apart. I think the slide-out TSA function is a little gimmicky, but the protector itself seems well designed, protective and even ventilated, which will help when I throw my machine in while it's in sleep mode. I was concerned that a smaller profile bag would not hold my laptop, given my experience with the Deuter. But this bag actually fits it perfectly. I noticed the previous reviewer was disappointed with the sleeve, but my guess is the problem was the machine's thickness, not its length. Right now it's holding my laptop, notebooks, DSLR camera and camera bag, lunch, hat and gloves, thermos, powercords and a pen in every pocket. I could probably curl up my light jacket in there as well in a pinch. Better yet, I know where everything is and can pull out in a jiffy.
I considered the other, bigger Outdoor Products laptop bag, but really thought that was going to be too much for me, and I'd be back with a pack I could swim in. So far, this is working out really well. Extremely satisfied thus far.

Comments about Outdoor Products Power Pack Glide Daypack:
I use this backpack every day to carry my laptop from the office to home. I have not yet traveled with it; but when compared with other laptop bags that I have used for travel, this one seems well-built and organized for travel.
The back and straps are well-padded and contain mesh material, which makes the bag comfortable to wear for longer periods of time. The bag itself is sleek and professional looking for a business user (especially in black instead of blue). There are plenty of pockets, which make organizing a breeze.
The only con is that the laptop sleeve can only fit smaller laptops, which restricts the "glide" feature. My laptop with extended battery would not fit in the sleeve, so I removed the sleeve to store my laptop. Fortunately, it still has sufficient padding for my laptop, even without the sleeve.
Overall, this is a good backpack which I highly recommend.
