Comments about Sorel Conquest Winter Boots - Men's:
I have the old pair of Conquest Boots and love them. They a Comfortable out of the box. A little heavy but not enough to worry about. I use these for winter Hiking and camping. I have taken them up to the Summit of Mt Whitney twice in
November/February snow conditions and feet stayed warm. Once to Summit of Mt San Antonio. Black Diamond Contact Crampons fit. I have never had cold feet and have woken up to frozen stiff boots, but after walking around in them for a few minutes I am fine the rest of the day. I never had any hotspots or blisters. They have never leaked water. I will eventually get a pair of mountaineering boots but because of these boots I am in no rush. These have never let me down. When these wear out I will buy another pair. Great boot just to have.

Comments about Sorel Conquest Winter Boots - Men's:
I am a mailman and I count on my boots to keep my feet warm and dry on my daily 10+ mile hike in Michigan's winter. After the somewhat painful two week break-in, these boots hit serious winter weather. I stress the break-in period is long and painful (perhaps a sign of a sturdy boot?), but the boot is very, very comfortable after they are broken in.
The first winter storm and my feet were soaked by midday. All night in front of a space heater and they were still damp. Perhaps they forgot the Gortex in mine, but these boots are anything but waterproof. I hosed them down with silicone, and that helped a bit. The 400 gram Thinsulate works fine in dry weather, but if you are trudging through snow? Better get some good gaiters.

Comments about Sorel Conquest Winter Boots - Men's:
This is only my inital impressions upon receiving the boots. They are being returned in favor of a different pair.
Pros: Seem exceptionally well made out of the box, very stylish in my opinion, and would likely be a fine boot for many.
Cons: Ingress\egress is not great. The boots don't really open up wide enough to insert your foot without pulling back the laces. They really need hooks for the top section of laces.
The major flaw in the design is the use of eyes all the way to the top -- there are no hooks for hte laces, which make things much easier generally and allow you to tighten up the laces in stages. When I lace these up, they slacken every time I pull the next higher section of lace. Cannot get them to fit snugly except at the very top (which is uncomfortable).
Actual weight of size 9.5 = 4.1 pounds, BTW.

Comments about Sorel Conquest Winter Boots - Men's:
This would have been a Five star review had the following issue not have been present:
Plain and simple, my snow hike was cut short by these boots, I am returning them today. These boots have an issue right at the ankle where the Leather overlaps between the top and bottom part of the boot. Where the stitching is creates a crease in the boot right at the ankle. This crease is extremely tough and cut into my ankle (literally right on the knobby ankle bone). I was on a 2 day snow hike and had to cut it short by about a day and a half. I did try the boots on around the store, but there are no inclines to walk up like there is on the trail. For those of you that are wondering, I was wearing a double layer of Marino wool hiking socks, and I still got beat up by these boots. I would pay the extra $50 and go for the Northface… which, is what im going to upgrade to today.
Pros:
• Soooooo warm… like my feet were an oven
• were buried 2 feet deep the whole time and my feet never once got wet
• Price would have been awesome had the boot not damaged my ankle

Comments about Sorel Conquest Winter Boots - Men's:
These are a good boot overall. I injured my ankle a year ago and my old boots did not support the ankle very well. This boot is very comfortable and required very little break-in. Very warm, very dry. Not that heavy (at least I didn't think so).
My only complaint is as mentioned earlier: the laces are very, VERY difficult to tighten because of the lace loops all the way up and the very slippery lace material that's used. This would probably be a very easy problem for Sorel to fix... which they should do immediately since it REALLY detracts from their otherwise very good boot.

Hiking in snow and wet conditions at Maroon Bells, Aspen, Colorado, they were dry, warm with great traction on the mountain face.
Two friends have already bought these same boots.

Comments about Sorel Conquest Winter Boots - Men's:
I read a lot of reviews that talked about difficult entry and sore ankles. They are true. The entry is difficult and there was one area that really irritated my ankle. I have only worn them a few times so I hope they just need to be broken in a little. Over all it is a stylish boot with good snow traction.

Comments about Sorel Conquest Winter Boots - Men's:
I can't speak as to the waterproofness of these boots as I have yet to see the snow or rain in them yet. I can however speak to the warmth and comfort, which is excellent. I've worn these boots for an extended period in 20-30F weather without feeling cold at all. I've also walked a fair bit in them and they are extremely comfortable.

Comments about Sorel Conquest Winter Boots - Men's:
This is my Third season in my current Conquests. From 4 day snowcamping trips in central oregon, to snowshoeing in the washington cascades, these boots have never let me down.
They didnt take much to break in for me, maybe 10 miles of hiking and they have been the same ever since. In my opinion it is very important to supplement the correct sock with this boot, as a thick winter sock is essential to happiness. I usually combine a Smartwool Trekking sock (heavy cushion) with mine for the super comfy factor.
Why am I only giving it four stars? Well there are a couple issues. The aforementioned "pinch point" that is in the front of the boot at ankle level, is a problem of lace tension. When I first got the conquest, I would crank them down too tight and they would start hurting. once i figured out the correct tension, its like wearing a boot length slipper! Getting your feet in and out can be difficult, especially if the boot leather is frozen overnight. After two seasons I added some Tectron Sno Seal since they were starting to absorb water. The Sno Seal made them Impervious to snow and water, and I bought it in REI Redmond.

Comments about Sorel Conquest Winter Boots - Men's:
The boot is great for extreme cold and it shines here and great for slushy wet stuff too. Where it runs into problems are in several areas. The upper part of the boot is far too rigid and there for does not allow the wearer to move their foot natuarally. I feel like I am wearing ski boots. The boot causes too much blistering for me too, shame since they cost [$] a pair. I took these boots out snow hiking on hard packed snow and they were awful causing me to stop half a dozen times to rearrange my socks and take the boots off to adjust comfort. I was told that these boots were amazing and they are comfortable but they are not designed for snow shoeing, snow hiking or even walking a mile to work and back on packed snow. It is rare to find a bood that has ease of access and although Sorel is known for their cold weather gear I would not suggest these to anyone else.
