          Comments about REI Clothesline:

Despite some negative reviews, I have to say that this clothesline has not dissapointed me. In preparation of an extended trip to SouthEast Asia, I tested this in my bathroom for two weeks. I hung dresses, skirts, jackets and underwear from this with no problems. Didn't try jeans as I would not travel with them anyways.

I used the velcro straps as the suction cups did not always stay in place. Thinking the type of surface has a lot to do with it as it worked fine for me in tiled bathrooms but not concrete walls. Based on some reviews, I will be taking some nylon cord too, just in case this products breaks - hopefully it will last 3 months of constant use.

            Comments about REI Clothesline:

When I travel around, I normally handwash a little clothing every day so a clothesline is essential. This clothesline is very low quality and I regret not just bringing a cord of nylon rope. The problems I've had:

1 - The elastic cord dettached form the end piece after a few uses while I was trying to attach the suction cup. This is inevitable since the only way to prevent the line from sagging too much is the try to keep it taut and stretch it out.
2 - To keep the line taut, you need to extend it quite a bit. Usually longer than reasonable for most hotel bathrooms as one side of the line will extend bath the bathtub area and not have a smooth surface on which to attach
3 - Also, the suction cups are not strong enough to hold the line if it's stretch more than a little causing the line sag once you put a couple of articles of clothing on it.

In summary, if you're just trying to dry socks, then this clothesline may be useful. But for any other articles of clothing, this product is worthless. Save your money and just buy some cheap nylong cord.

                Comments about REI Clothesline:

Was heading to Eurpoe for 2 months. Rather than buy the Rick Steves clothes line I opted for the REI. It pulled apart on my first test, so I had neither to take on the trip. The rubber braid had potential, but it seemed like it was glued onto the clips, which are plastic. Can't see how the suction cups could hold up anything over a few ounces. The Velco idea has potential, but as a whole, the system, as is, is just junk. Not even worth returning at this price.

                Comments about REI Clothesline:

As the description says, this product is intended to be used in a six foot bathtub. In international travel, it's pretty rare to have one of those. I stretched this clothesline back and forth across my tiny European bathroom and hung my clothes on it- a half hour later the rubber broke and my clothes were on the floor. However, I'm not returning it, since the suction cup and velcro anchors work well; I'll use some nylon cord and make an adjustable (and reliable) clothesline.

                Comments about REI Clothesline:

This kind of clothesline is indispensable to me both traveling and at home. Traveling, I use it to dry clothes in hostels and cars, and to set up a bed screen in dorms using a sarong. At home, I eschew electric dryers for about half of my clothing, so two days a week my bathroom and closet are strung with one of these babies. I slip the hangers between the two elastic lines so that they all don't slide toward the middle with the weight. The suctions cups aren't going to hold for the weight I use it for, so the anchors are crucial.
This length is really not sufficient. Please make one that stretches to six feet or more. With the longer length, you can double it up for smaller spaces or create a clothesline that stretches around the inside perimeter of a vehicle. I hate having to buy outside of REI for the longer product.

                  Comments about REI Clothesline:

We traveled for 3 weeks in England and Italy (2 weeks were on bikes). We washed our bike shorts and hung them to dry on this clothesline daily. It was easy to set up in our hotel room and held the clothes securely. The suction cups don't always stick, so it's nice that the loops on the end are there.
