The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Classic Dog Pack - Medium:
Went on a 4 day, 20 mile backpacking trip into the Eagle Cap Wilderness. My dog Duke (lab) had to carry his food, 4 days worth, in his backpack. Duke does not like to follow the trail and is always going off trail through the brush. He put this pack to the test and rubbed it against rocks, swam in lakes with it, bushwacked with it and probably went 50 miles to our 20. Never had a problem with the pack coming out of balance, but I made sure each side had equal weight.
I looked at this pack and the deluxe version, and I was more than happy with the results from this pack. A good buy if you hike a lot with your dog.

Comments about REI Classic Dog Pack - Medium:
Good Pack. The girth strap could be more adjustable. My Australian Shepherd cross is definitely a medium size dog (65 pounds), but I had to take the girth strap all the way in as tight as I could, and it still wasn't that snug. I got a synthetic fleece seat belt pad and put it around the girth strap. Not only did that make it snug enough, I know from years of owning pack llamas that synthetic fleece is good material for girth straps. Not that I would have any concerns about the padding on the pack. It's just if you need to take up some extra slack, this works. I've attached a photo of that setup. All in all, this is a high-quality pack. It's made out of excellent materials and the construction is really good. It's really all one needs to enable the canine wilderness traveling companion to carry his/her food and supplies. I expect it will last a long time, and it's consistent with the high-quality I've come to know from REI.

Comments about REI Classic Dog Pack - Medium:
I am always hiking with my pup and figured she needed to start carrying in her own food and water. So now she does. The pack fits great, the handle comes in handy on some of the trickier sections, and the pack it self is really tough. Fits great, sits evenly on her back and doesn't shift much. Just make sure you have it fit properly on your dog.
I can't justify spending $25 or more on another pack when this one works great. Way to go again on another great product REI.

Comments about REI Classic Dog Pack - Medium:
After looking at many, many dog packs, I decided on this one because it had many of the same features as the Ruff-wear packs at a better price. So happy that we went with this pack. My 55 lb. dog LOVES wearing it when we go hiking and doesn't mind having it on at all. Even after an all-day hike, he shows no signs of irritation or problems with the pack. The only small issue is that the pack slides to one side or the other when not evenly balanced - but, I don't know that any design change would fix this problem. It has held up well and cleans up nicely in a washing machine.

Comments about REI Classic Dog Pack - Medium:
We use this pack at the beach, on hikes, at outdoor restaurants, on walks, etc, to carry our dog's water, food, clean up bags, and first aid kit. Sometimes I'll also roll up a jacket and clip it under the carry handle. This is our second pack and we've found it to be quite tough. The only downer is that sometimes the strap adjustment locks open up on their own, although the straps have never actually loosened up.
Recently we added a red CatEye (rut roh! cats!) "loop" rear bike light to the handle of the backpack for night hikes and walks. It's made for bikes, but works GREAT on the handle of this pack.

Comments about REI Classic Dog Pack - Medium:
This is a great pack. Big enough to fit water bottles. The strap system allows it to fit dogs with different waist sizes, which is great because it keeps the pack from sliding forward and backwards. My dog was bounding through the rocks and smashed the pack up quite a bit, but there was no damage! The handle is great for helping over obstacles. We hiked all day up Mt. Bierstadt and he showed no signs of irritation from wearing the pack.
Wishes: Waterproof. Tiny pouches/dividers for smaller items.
Great pack! Comfortable and plenty of room for whatever you need.

Comments about REI Classic Dog Pack - Medium:
This dog pack is exactly what I wanted. I have a 1 yr. old German Shepherd and the medium is just right, and also has room for growth. The pack is simple, but functions perfectly. It has a metal ring on top where the leash latches on, which is much better than a plastic one that other packs have. It has two belly straps, and one that connects the front belly strap to a chest yoke. My dog Molly has worn the pack with absolutely no problems. I initially put a water bottle in each side but it was too much weight for her (being a puppy and all). Anyway, Molly carries simple things like food, snacks, waste bags, and other misc. stuff that doesn't weigh much. I will carry her water until she gets a little older. I've had it for about 3 months with moderate use and everything has held up fine so far.

Comments about REI Classic Dog Pack - Medium:
Bought this pack for our medium sized hound mix and it worked out really well. He carried 2 liters of water and 2 baggies of dog food up a 4 mile/2000+ foot altitude gain hike. The three point buckle in the front made all the difference. Our old one would slide to the side no matter how even we packed each side. The metal loop on the top of the harness was sturdy enough that I didn't have to worry that he would pull so hard on the leash and break it.
Another plus; because he was carrying an extra 8 pounds, he tired out fast and didn't have to be leashed at the campsite...he was out like a light!

Comments about REI Classic Dog Pack - Medium:
I got this for my husky/lab puppy. Picked the medium hoping that she will grow into its as shes 9 months old and no where near full grown. She weighs about 40 lbs. The pack does not fit her yet but it is very close. With ever strap adjusted to be as tight as possible only the rear belly strap is tight, the chest one is a few inches away from snug. I put an equal amount of weight in each side and it rode nicely while she ran around despite the pack being to big, for now anyway. I have no doubt that when she gains 5-10 lbs it will be perfect.

Trigger is an off the trail kind of dog. We saw a rattlesnake so he had to stay on the trail. He felt so important with his pack on.
