Comments about Palm Switch Semi-Dry Top - Unisex - '10 Closeout:
The plastic adjustable waist tabs quickly cease sticking and instead bend out from the waist. This results in velcro tabs sticking out 3 to 4 inches and interfering with every kayak stroke.
Furthermore, if you carry a tow rope/strap and/or a waist throwrope, the velcro sticks to the rope and results in unintentionally deployed ropes while in the middle of rapids. This is quite unsafe and, IMO, a very poor design.
Unfortunately, I didn't realize this until on a 9 day wilderness trip. By the second day I was forced to cut off the waist tabs.
And by the fourth day the right arm was consistently leaking. :-(
I can not recommend this product.

Comments about Palm Switch Semi-Dry Top - Unisex - '10 Closeout:
Not sure why REI has this listed as a semi-dry top. It has true latex gaskets at both the neck and wrists, not neoprene, glideskin or some other type of semi-dry top enclosures. Virtually identical to Palm's top of the line "Sidewinder" dry top, just not quite as heavy duty (or expensive). And yes, as with all dry tops, it IS hard to put on and take off, but that's the nature of the beast with dry tops. Helps if you have a partner to assist.
