Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet Kayak:
Was looking for an inexpensive first kayak after renting every summer the past 2 yrs and this kayak covered all of my 'must haves'. Ready to retire and this is fun to use plus lightweight enough for me to carry. Best part was I didn't need a roof rack as it fits in my dodge caliber with seats down. I can close the hatch and go. High sides keep me dry when paddling. Love, love, love it.

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet Kayak:
After seeing that it won an award, I wanted to try out this little boat. I have paddled about a dozen different rec yaks under 10 feet, and this one is probably the worst. The plastic is thin and not well finished; I worry that it would puncture easily. Tracking is worse than it needs to be, even for a short boat. Other options like the Perception Swifty or the Heritage Featherlite 9.5 are a much better use of you money.

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet Kayak:
This Kayak seemed the answer to both size and weight. Waiting for over a month to get it.
The washer issue apparently was addressed as the seat in this unit did not fall apart.
After having it on the water in a calm protected creek it was a major disappointment.
Heed the comments made by others about it's lack of tracking. Having set a course down stream paddling was stopped to see how the kayak would float. It aimed right for the bank and slowly drifted around and headed backwards down the creek.

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet Kayak:
I bought this a few months ago, never having been in a kayak before, so I have nothing to compare it to. My requirements were that it should fit in the back of my Chevy Tahoe and I should be able to load, unload, and generally manage it by myself. I made the modification to the seat webbing suggested by other reviewers, and have had no problems. I bought a good lightweight paddle [...]So far I've only been out paddling on local lakes and reservoirs with calm water and small waves, but I feel safe and stable. I'm not hardcore - my trips are usually for about an hour and I'm more interested in the scenery than covering huge distances. I'm enjoying my new summer sport immensely, though, so I'm very glad I bought this kayak.

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet Kayak:
I have a bit of experience with sea kayaks and recreational kayaks and I'm new to whitewater (1 year). I bought this kayak for a complete beginner because it was cheap. Not a bad kayak for the money. It has a slight inherant yaw instability which makes it difficult for a complete beginner to paddle straight. It's not as bad as a whitewater kayak, but I wouldn't recommend it for a new paddler. (She now greatly prefers my OldTown Otter which will stay in a straight line) The boat seems to be cast a little thinner than others, but definitely strong enough for a recreational boat. I really like the paddle holder on the side. There are better boats out there, but it's a nice boat for the money.

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet Kayak:
Love the ease of transporting this kayak because of it's smaller footprint. It's also easy to carry by one person but with two people carrying it, it is easy as pie. I use this primarily on placid lakes so it has good maneuverability. With the wide opening, it makes it easy to get in and out. Stability issues are nonexistent. The only drawback was the paddle keeper plastic piece that holds it to the kayak broke within the first 2 minutes of me attempting to use it. I really enjoy paddling in this for a beginner and hope to gain expertise with paddling in this kayak for many more trips to come.

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet Kayak:
Not sure how this was ever an award winning kayak. I gave it one star only because zero wasn't an option... This is a very very very VERY slow kayak. Also, it doesn't track. More than half of your paddling effort is trying to keep it in a straight line. Don't even try to keep up with anyone else in your party that has a longer boat, because it won't happen unless you are Superman. The drag is horrible. I just finished a 10 mile paddle and my arms, back, and legs were completely gased, something that has never happened before in any other boat I've used. It is going to trashed, I wouldn't resell/give this away because it would be cruel to whomever received it. There is one good quality in this boat, the seat was pretty comfortable. Not exactly enough of a good quality for a recommendation to buy though. Do yourself a favor and buy something longer. If this is the only boat you can afford, save your money for a couple more months and invest in a longer boat.

IF YOU KNOW HOW TO PADDLE THIS BOAT TRACKS AMAZING...NOT QUITE AS FAST AS MY SCIRROCCO CURRENT DESIGHNS BUT IT STILL ZIPS ALONG JUST FINE..TURNS ON A DIME...I CAN WHIP 180'S WITH NO FEELING OF FLIPPING....FOR THE BEGINNER ITS A BLESSING....MY LADIES FIRST USE IN A KAYAK WAS IN A COMET AND SHE SPED AROUND VASHON ISLAND(WA.)WITH NO PROBLEM....I STILL HAVE NOT GONE OVERBOARD SO I ONLY WONDER IF ITS AS EASY TO RENTER AS MY LONGER BOAT??

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet Kayak:
Fits in my Honda CRV - I'm a beginner and before I bought the emotion I read the cons about Slow and Poor Tracking - It is a bit slower than longer kayaks and it doesn't always hold the tracking but it works great for my use.. because the sides come up higher than most kayaks I bought a longer paddle - made it much eaiser!! love my new toy..

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet Kayak:
First thing to say, is that it is not a matter of "if" the seat strap is going to break, it is a matter of "when". For me it was the second trip. As another review said, instead of getting stranded mid trip without a seat back, GET TWO THICK RINGED 1/4 INCH WASHERS TO PUT BETWEEN THE STRAPS AND THE NUTS BEFORE YOU USE THIS KAYAK. 20 cents from the hardware store will save you lots of grief.
Besides that this kayak gets the job done. Miraculously it fits inside my Scion Xa (don't have a topper). I have a hard time keeping this straight, but perhaps that is my poor paddling form. I use this on a very calm lake.
