It worked. We did a little hike up to Nordrum Lake and the trail was overgrown and wet. These kept me dry until I started sweating. All in all if this had been just for a short hike I suspect they would have served the purpose better. My goal was to buy small, lightweight, packable, waterproof pants and that goal was achieved.

These pants aren't fully waterproof, but handle my 30 minute commute to work when its raining. Much longer and I have a feeling the rain would penetrate. They are definitely NOT breathable, quite the opposite, they create a sauna like atmosphere and would be good for fighters trying to cut weight ahead of their next bout! But what do you expect for the price? If you want quality, breathable material, you'll need to pay three times this amount and get Gore-tex.

i thought these would be ok for over lightweight pants/shorts. i ordered a size up and they were too small even without pants on underneath.
the material felt cheap and sticky just sitting in my house. i returned them before they got a field test.
