Comments about Black Diamond Super Chute Rope Bag:

This rope bag is awesome for reasons that are not at first obvious.

I originally bought this bag because it had the largest tarp of all the ones in the REI store, I had seen that my friend's Metolius rope bag's tarp was simply not large enough to prevent the rope from spilling off and getting dirty. I began to dislike the bag because it seemed too big for the rope, and it has a bit of an awkward shape making it difficult to stuff inside a larger pack. It was also difficult to carry comfortably by itself.

Eventually I realized you could tie an end to the red loop inside it, flake it, then after climbing, tie the other end to green loop on tarp and push the tarp into the bag. When you go to the next route, just open the bag, and Voilà your rope is already flaked and ready to go, the end is automatically found (tied to green loop). Tying to the red loop is a great way of making sure you don't ever lower someone off the end of your rope. It is probably for the ease of storing a flaked rope that the Planet Granite gym in California gives out all lead ropes in one of these bags.

On my latest trip, we had to hike through bush and even cross a chest deep river. My friends all carried reasonably large packs and suffered (and they didn't even a rope+draws on them). I just took this bag with a 50m 10.5mm rope, harness, draws, and climbing shoes in it (it all fit just about right), and carried only the bag. It was reasonably comfortable carrying it on my back if you adjust the strap length. On the way back I fell while crossing the river and the bag landed in the water for a few seconds. When I opened the bag later, the tarp was a bit wet, but everything inside was 100% dry (I think it may be waterproof).

Comments about Black Diamond Super Chute Rope Bag:

This rope bag is everything I thought it would be. Spacious enough for my 70m, with room to spare. I like the draw string feature a lot, allowing to make the bag as small as i'd like. The tarp is perfect size to put the rope on, as well as change shoes, or take a seat on. Great product.

Comments about Black Diamond Super Chute Rope Bag:

I really like the design of this rope bag. The tarp is sewn in completely to the bag, so it all gets in the bag in the end.

You could add extra stuff to the bag, but I bought it for just my rope - everything else goes in another pack.

The only possible downside is the narrow shoulder strap. It really isn't a problem though if you just have the rope in there.

The bag compresses really tight and flat, so it fits well in another pack if desired.

Rope bags are meant to carry ROPES

Comments about Black Diamond Super Chute Rope Bag:

The bag is quite large, fits a 9.8mm/70m rope with ease so you could probably throw in some cord or slings for multi-pitch for simple crag packing... but i WOULD NOT recommend packing any other gear (such as metal objects) in with your rope.

Your rope is your lifeline, pack accordingly.

The best thing about this bag is the unique way BD sewed the tarp to the "bag" portion. Unlike other bags this bag has the tarp sewn the entire length of the end that rolls into the bag so when you fold the sides to roll your rope, it goes in just-right every time.

The material is very durable and it has a comfortable, slightly padded shoulder strap that is comfortable for short approaches. For the longer approaches it stuffs easily into any climbing pack because of it's "flat-rectangular" shape as opposed to the typical "ball" shape most other rope bags have to offer.

Comments about Black Diamond Super Chute Rope Bag:

This bag works REALLY well and is well constructed, I throw it around and it takes a beating well. It's simple to use and I like the way it folds my rope up and rolls out.

The big(and only) problem is the single shoulder strap. Its just plain uncomfortable to carry around. Granted I stuff it with my 70m rope, trad rack, water, and 2 pairs of shoes.

I have come to hate carrying just this bag for almost any distance as it just slides right in the way if your scrambling over anything or is just uncomfortable despite the padded carry strap. This would work if you only have drive up(as in directly to the base or your) cragging for all of your climbs but that is never really the case, is it?

In all i still use this bag but i have to carry another bag with backpack straps with this one in it.
